Chapter 619: Chapter 619: Trapped!

A figure suddenly dashed over!

Before the wall collapsed, he embraced Aurelia Shaw and rolled twice on the ground, but the wall still grazed the man’s back.

Mason Nightshade let out a muffled groan, tightly shielding Aurelia Shaw with his arms, completely protecting her under his chest, leaving no gap for her to get hurt.

Even knowing she couldn’t be injured, Mason Nightshade still felt a pang of worry, nervously looking at her curled up in his arms, trying to soften his voice as he asked, "Are you hurt?"

The familiar voice sounded in her ear.

Aurelia froze, disbelief rising as she lifted her head. When she saw that familiar handsome face, she was momentarily stunned, a rapid flicker of an emotion she didn’t even recognize passing through her heart.

His handsome face was smeared with dirt, his forehead injured, blood trickling down. In the night, only those black eyes shone brightly, and Aurelia clearly saw her reflection in his dark pupils.

She originally thought she was doomed.

Aurelia’s heart pounded fiercely, unsure if it was from brushing with death or something else. She opened her mouth, her voice escaping beyond her control:

"Why... why are you here?"

"Were you hit anywhere, arm, leg? Head? Where does it hurt? Aurelia, answer me!" Mason Nightshade seemed not to hear her question, his handsome face taut, eyes sullen, even his tone was heavier.

Aurelia numbly shook her head.

Suddenly remembering something, she quickly snapped back and pushed aside the fallen bricks on Mason Nightshade, helping him up with genuine concern on her face: "Are you hurt?"

Mason Nightshade grasped her hand that reached for his back, gripping tightly, striding forward with her in tow.

"Let’s get out first!"

They had barely taken two steps when another tremor shook the ground. Out of the corner of her eye, Aurelia saw a shadow crashing towards them, pulling Mason Nightshade’s arm to yank him back, instinctively shielding him. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Mason Nightshade was unexpectedly held back by her.

But he quickly reacted, instinctively pulling her into his arms and stepping sideways with a broad stride.

Boom! The wall collapsed, a heap of bricks crashing onto where they had just been standing.

Mason Nightshade’s face turned so dark with anger it could drip ink, but before he could scold her, the ground suddenly collapsed, and the two fell in. Mason Nightshade’s arms never loosened around Aurelia, ensuring she was unharmed.

Aurelia felt they hit several times, but she felt no pain. She opened her eyes to see Mason Nightshade’s firm jawline, the remaining sliver of moonlight shedding light on his face, obscuring his current expression.

"Mason..." Aurelia called out to Mason Nightshade, the heartbeat thumping against her ear letting her know he was alive, but she wasn’t sure if he was injured.

Receiving no response, Aurelia swallowed and softly called him again, "Mason."

"Shut up!" A deep voice rumbled from the man’s throat.

As he lowered his head, Aurelia saw his murderous, angry gaze.

"Why did you dash in front of me just now! Do you know how dangerous that was! Do you have no instinct to avoid danger?"

Aurelia hadn’t thought much, "Just now, you protected me too."

"It’s not the same!" Mason Nightshade growled with anger, his voice somewhat weakened.

Aurelia frowned, "There’s no difference."

In fact, she didn’t know why she acted so impulsively earlier; protecting him was almost instinctive, without much thought, nor considering the danger involved.
