Clara Philips' face turned pale, then blue, then nearly black. That little brat kept implying she was just a servant in the house, and she hated it the most when Aurelia said that.

So what if that woman was pampered? She was still a short-lived ghost, and now the mistress of the Shaw Family was her, the one enjoying all this was her.

Thinking of this, Clara felt much better. She dared not say this in front of Balthazar Shaw, because she still had to play the understanding stepmother who was being troubled by her stepdaughter.

"Aurelia, why are you at the hospital too?" Clara asked.

Aurelia raised her eyebrows.

Seeing Aurelia didn't want to talk, Clara exclaimed, "Could it be you're not feeling well somewhere? Looking closely, you seem too haggard. Did something happen that you're busy worrying both me and your father?"

Aurelia squinted slightly. She indeed didn't want to tell Balthazar about her being stabbed. Balthazar's health was not good, and besides, she was fine now. It would only make him worry unnecessarily.

However.

Clara took it upon herself to bring this issue to light.

Was she trying to dig a pit for her to fall into or intentionally trying to upset her father, making his health worse?

Aurelia pondered, wondering how to respond. Suddenly, the door was pushed open, and a man dressed in a suit, noble and cold, walked in, his expression calm, exuding a sharp wolf-like aura from head to toe.

Jovana Shaw's eyes suddenly lit up. As Mason Nightshade walked in, her eyes were glued to him, unable to move away. Mason was too outstanding, so brilliant that it was impossible not to notice him. Such an excellent and charming man, she desperately wanted him, so much so that her heart ached.

Balthazar Shaw froze, staring in astonishment as Mason Nightshade stepped in. Why would Mason come here?

His gaze subconsciously turned to Aurelia, seeing her puzzled face, which inexplicably made him feel relieved.

Under everyone's intensely curious gaze, Mason's expression remained unchanged as he quietly explained, "I have business at the hospital, and heard you were hospitalized, too. I used to be married to Aurelia, so visiting is only right."

Balthazar's lips pressed tightly together. If anyone else had said this, he might believe it. But coming from Mason's mouth, the credibility was less than ten percent.

He looked at Mason, lips tightening and face solemn, "Thank you, Mr. Nightshade, for coming to see this old man, but since your relationship with Aurelia is over, and you've divorced, there's no need to dwell on who's right or wrong anymore. Mr. Nightshade is a generous person, I assume you wouldn't nitpick over such matters with a woman, would you?"

Clara's eyes darted between Balthazar and Mason; was there something going on between these two?

Mason was not oblivious to Balthazar's true meaning, and his face didn't change, "Between Aurelia and I, we never fuss over such things. But if she gets implicated by someone, I won't hold back."

Balthazar's expression shifted, after a moment, he exhaled trembling, "That would be best, however, Mr. Nightshade, today is a family gathering. It's not right for you to stay here, so I won't keep you."

Balthazar was delivering an eviction notice.

Mason didn't get angry, instead he looked at Aurelia, "I have something to discuss with Aurelia. Aurelia, shall we step outside for a chat?"

Aurelia met Mason's eyes and paused, instinctively realizing Mason had been here for a while, and must have overheard quite a bit.

Did he enter to help her out?
