Tokyo: My Superpower Refreshes Every Week-Chapter 462 - 460: Chitose is Getting a Promotion Again_1
After hanging up the phone, joy flooded Jack’s heart, and even the corners of his mouth curled up.
He had been ready to be stripped of his position as CIA branch director. He might even have lost his authority over the special task force, becoming an early-retired agent.
But what he hadn’t expected was, after going through such an ordeal, he hadn’t been removed; he still sat firmly on the branch director’s throne.
The condition was that he had to handle the Mitsui Family affair well. He must arrest all those involved.
Jack knew everything about the six major consortiums’ residences and their family members’ homes; even their defensive arrangements were crystal clear to him.
Therefore, he knew that capturing the current Master Mitsui would be no easy feat.
The Master alone had fifty bodyguards, each agile and well-equipped.
From guns to hand grenades, to bulletproof vests, tactical helmets, and more, they were armed to the teeth.
Those bodyguards were fully equipped according to special forces standards. Relying solely on his agents to arrest them would be suicidal.
Jack also didn’t trust operatives from the Operations Division to assist him.
The incident with the Director of Intelligence had shown him that the other three directors were unreliable. They might just kick him while he was down at this juncture.
The only people he truly trusted were his special task force members.
Jack dialed Morimoto Chiyoda’s number.
BEEP. A lazy voice rang in his ear, "Unlucky Chief Jack, have you been removed?"
"Morimoto, I have one more chance!" Jack’s tone was filled with excitement, and he paid no mind to her teasing tone. He relayed what John had just told him to Morimoto Chiyoda. "Tell me," he asked, "how much longer do you think I can last?"
"Keep your position for as long as you can. Just keep providing information about Dio, and resolve this incident, then there won’t be any problem."
Her words spurred Jack’s excitement further, and he asked, "Any new information?"
"Yeah, just now, Dio killed a Godzilla in the Sahara Desert and obtained a sapphire-like object from inside Godzilla’s body.
Initially, it’s presumed to be a combination of monster energy and soul."
Having just finished working out, Morimoto Chiyoda sat on a chair and voiced her hypothesis, "Last time it was Antarctica, this time the Sahara Desert. Some places with extreme environments, inhospitable for human habitation, seem to attract those large monsters. This indirectly proves the theory that harsh environments weaken the world’s barriers."
"I see."
Jack pondered the point and carefully broached, "Morimoto, can you lead a team to arrest the entire Mitsui Family?"
"That’s something I shouldn’t be handling." Morimoto Chiyoda shook her head. After all, the Mitsui Family was one of the six major consortiums. If they fell, and the other five couldn’t handle the CIA, could they not handle her, a mere Police Director?
"If you won’t take action, there’s no one else I can trust."
"Don’t panic. I think you can get the Phoenix Academy and the other five major consortiums to do this. Tell them it was the Mitsui Family who was behind the trouble this time. After dealing with the Mitsui Family, no one else will have any issues."
"But if they conspire together and deliberately leak information to Mitsui, what then?"
"Don’t worry. I think it’s not just the Mitsui Family’s problem this time. You can take a firmer stance. Say that if the Mitsui Family is eliminated, the matter will end there. Otherwise, it’ll be a case of mutual destruction."
Morimoto Chiyoda leisurely proposed her ruthless plan.
Capital’s unity serves to preserve itself, but when this unity itself signals danger, they would crave freedom more than anyone else.
"The more guilty they feel, the more they’ll strive to get this done. They definitely wouldn’t want the Mitsui Family to fall into CIA hands alive. Then, have the operatives from the Intelligence Division put every Mitsui Family member under surveillance. This is a chance to make amends for past wrongs. I believe they’ll work hard to monitor the Mitsui Family, while operatives from the Operations Division encircle them from the outside. With a three-pronged approach, we’ll ensure no one from the Mitsui Family escapes Tokyo."
"That makes sense!" Jack slapped his thigh and revisited an earlier point, "Morimoto, I think you should take the position of Director of Intelligence. Don’t be too quick to refuse; if you don’t take the position, someone else will. Think it over carefully."
"Hmm, I’ll think about it."
Morimoto Chiyoda’s attitude wasn’t as decisive.
Jack let out a sigh of relief, hung up the phone, and pressed the button to call his secretary, "Yuzuki."
"Chief Jack, are we discussing severance pay?"
"I haven’t been ousted!" Jack replied irritably. "Hurry up and notify Phoenix Academy Kochou, Iwasaki Yizo, Yasuda... Tell them the Mitsui Family has undeniable responsibility for what happened at the Mount Fuji Base, and have them arrange for the capture of every Mitsui Family member."
"Alright, I’ll talk to them right away."
"Remember, make the language stern."
Jack reminded her of the tone to use, hung up, and then dialed the currently highest-ranking agent in the Intelligence Division.
At the same time, he picked up the landline to call someone from the Operations Division.
His ability to remain branch director was at stake. He was putting everything on the line to avoid retirement.
"If the Phoenix Academy doesn’t want to experience the fate of the Japanese zaibatsu right after World War II, they’d better make sure not a single Mitsui Family member gets away. No matter how good an ill-suited tool is, it has to be tossed into the trash can."
A cold voice transmitted from the other end of the phone. Kochou’s expression turned especially somber; these were unfounded accusations.
She knew clearly that the informant from the base was an employee of the Yasuda Family and had absolutely no relation to the Mitsui Family. The CIA had likely targeted the Mitsui Family because of their frequent changes of family head. The new family head’s talent might surpass that of his immediate two predecessors, but he was far inferior in terms of reputation and connections. Consequently, while the Mitsui Family’s financial power hadn’t diminished much, their status and authority had been substantially reduced. The new head’s network and connections weren’t enough to make people willing to risk saving him. He was simply too young.
"I know."
Kochou hung up the phone, and soon another call arrived.
"Kochou, did you receive the CIA’s notification?"
"Yes, I did." Kochou answered Iwasaki Yizo’s question, rubbing her temples. "Given the situation, we must clearly show our intentions to the CIA, that this matter has nothing to do with us."
"Since you say so, then we have no choice but to do it."
Iwasaki Yizo sighed, seeming very reluctant.
Kochou sneered inwardly. She had no choice; these were words she had to say. The Phoenix Academy wasn’t one of the established, deep-rooted local powers like the six major financial conglomerates; it had risen rapidly only with the MacArthur Family’s support. Faced with the CIA’s threat, Kochou had to show her stance. She couldn’t afford to drag things out like that old fox Iwasaki Yizo, who could wait until she lost patience. Rather than face that outcome, Kochou preferred to handle this matter decisively. This also indirectly gave Iwasaki Yizo a way out, allowing him to abandon his concerns and cooperate swiftly. Even as the storm loomed, Kochou’s mind remained calm. Unswayed by external factors, she meticulously considered each step. She believed her own schemes hadn’t been exposed; the CIA’s actions were simply Jack trying to find a scapegoat. Honestly, Kochou hadn’t considered such a possibility, yet she had to admit her opponent had blindly stumbled upon the truth. If she had nothing to do with this, she could have stood tall and refused the CIA’s blackmail. However, she truly couldn’t withstand the kind of thorough investigation Jack would conduct if he was determined to leave no stone unturned. Mitsui absolutely could not be allowed to live.
Her eyes turned icy.
The situation outside must be chaotic, Morimoto Chiyoda thought with a hint of regret, not possessing Tianyan and thus unable to freely observe things happening beyond her sightline.
After hanging up the phone, she stretched lazily and then went to the bathroom to clean herself, soaking in the bathtub.
Morimoto Chiyoda quietly pondered Jack’s invitation.
Jack’s foundation was too shallow. Once he left, his successor as branch director might not be so obedient. Sigh, it looks like I have no choice but to reluctantly take on the role of Director of Intelligence. I don’t want someone listening in on all my calls in the future. The special task force in the CIA had the privilege of not being wiretapped, a concession Jack had tacitly approved. If he left, many things would become complicated. When Jack calls again, I’ll agree to take the director position.
Morimoto Chiyoda soaked for a while before getting up, drying her body with a towel, then wrapping herself in a bath towel and opening the bathroom door.
The sound of the front door opening was heard, along with a loud shout, "I’m home, Chitose!" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
The door closed. Aozawa took off his shoes, placed them in the shoe cabinet, and looked at Morimoto Chiyoda standing in the hallway.
Her dark hair, still damp with water droplets from her recent bath, framed a face with cheeks tinged pink, as enchanting as the evening glow on the North Bar Beach of Chiba Prefecture.
The bath towel was white, her skin even whiter, seeming to transform the light into liquid flowing over her shoulders.
"Chitose~"
He quickly tried to pounce forward.
Morimoto Chiyoda swiftly dodged. Her right foot pressed into his side, pinning him against the wall. "Cool it. Take a shower, soak in the bath, then go to sleep."
"Eh, aren’t we doing it today?"
"Not today," Morimoto Chiyoda casually replied, retracting her leg and heading to the bedroom.
Aozawa sighed and went into the bathroom, using cold water to wash away his body’s heat.
Morimoto Chiyoda closed the bedroom door and let out a sigh of relief. Good, I’ve successfully maintained abstinence for a second day. My goal is once every seven days. On that one occasion, we can revel in pleasure until I pass out, but it’s absolutely not allowed on other days. Firstly, for my body’s sake, and secondly, still for my body’s sake. Given Aozawa’s brute strength, he’s not just an ordinary bull; he’s the Bull Demon King from ’Journey to the West.’ I know I can’t handle that every day. Besides, just once or twice wouldn’t be enough to fully satisfy either me or Aozawa. Honestly, I never thought I’d be the one getting drained.
She locked the door, put on her nightgown, and prepared to sleep.
