Chapter 43 - That seemed to settle Yun-tae's worry

They got Yun-tae's name printed on the white kitty cat's belly. It was so cute and Yun-tae said he would treasure it for life.

One thing was because that was what Kang-woo used to admit he was adorable and he handed it to him with his own hands.

"I'm so happy." Yun-tae announced as they made their way to the car.

"And I'm starved." Chin-hwa muttered. "Let's go to Cal'Air, Kang-woo." He said and Kang-woo nodded.

"Alright."

"Cal'Air? What's that?" Yun-tae asked.

"It's our favorite restaurant."

Cal'Air was the restaurant their family usually went to when they wanted to eat out. Well, in fact, it was their family restaurant since Woo-bin ended up buying the restaurant after Chin-hwa remarked that it was the best.

It was a really fancy restaurant and had different floors based on the status of whoever was dining there.

The ground floor was for average eaters who could not afford the very expensive menu, the middle floor was for rich people, and the top floor was for VIP, and as the family of the owner of the restaurant, Chin-hwa was definitely a VIP, same with Kang-woo.

The eating setting was adjusted by Woo-bin after he saw that average eaters would never be able to afford the menu and taste such delight. So, he adjusted the pricing, and though the quantity was less, it would allow them to taste such a refined palate.

He almost went as far as changing the name to 'Chin-hwa's Diner', but little Chin-hwa was able to stop him at that time.

"Wow, it's so huge." Yun-tae exclaimed after just seeing the exterior. "Wait, isn't this going to be expensive?"

"You don't have to worry, I'll be paying, remember?" Kang-woo said but that did not put Yun-tae at ease.

"Still. This is nowhere how much I spent on the coins." He said and then Chin-hwa wrapped his arm around his neck.

"You worry too much. Let me tell you a secret." Chin-hwa said and whispered, "It's a family restaurant so we're not actually paying. We're putting it on our family's tab so don't sweat it."

"Family... Restaurant? Whose family?"

"Mine."

That seemed to settle Yun-tae's worry.

"I'll make sure to thank your family for the meal when we get back." He said while they headed in.

"Maybe next time, since we won't really see them before we head back." Chin-hwa said and Yun-tae nodded, understanding the whole thing.

Since Hae-won was in heat, there was no telling when they would get to see them. And who knows? Woo-bin and Baek-Hyun might just go into a rut as well.

As they entered the place, Yun-tae's eyes widened. He stared at the crystal chandelier in the middle of the ceiling, illuminating the place and adding beauty.

The interior was breathtaking and he got lost, staring when Chin-hwa tapped him.

"Hm?"

"We're going to the top floor." Chin-hwa said, pointing towards the elevator.

"Alright."

They headed towards the elevator, and thanks to not being 'neatly dressed,' there were eyes on them, and the average eaters mocked them.

The average eaters weren't exactly average since they needed to at least be able to own a car before coming to squander on food at a pace like Cal'Air.

"They don't look rich. Do they think they can afford the bills on the next floor?"

"They'll get sent back right away, I'm sure of it."

Yun-tae was a little uncomfortable but Chin-hwa and Kang-woo were unbothered.

"Just ignore them." Kang-woo said. "They tend to judge people based on their dressing."

"Then, were we supposed to dress up first before coming?"

"It's alright. We never dress up when coming." Chin-hwa answered and pressed the elevator button. He smiled at Yun-tae. "So, don't worry."

The elevator took them to the top floor with Chin-hwa discussing what he would like for dessert.

"I'll have the cone special." He said. "Yun-tae, you'll have that with me, right? I know you'll love it since you also have a sweet tooth."

"Well, I guess so." He said, but he wasn't all that excited about it. For one, he felt like a novice, and coming to such an expensive restaurant for the first time, he didn't know what to do.

Chin-hwa and Kang-woo came from wealthy families. Their parents were conglomerates, so it was understandable that they felt comfortable coming to such an expensive restaurant.

But even then, he couldn't understand why they decided to go to a third-tier university when they could easily get into a top-tier one with their connections and brains.

Even though Chin-hwa's grades were average, he had a hunch that that was him going easy on himself because he did not want to stand out.

Given the awards he saw on Chin-hwa's shelf, he knew he was a very smart kid. It was no wonder he was able to help their group when they had assignments. They got great scores at the end of it but he would always come out average.

He never found it suspicious in the past but after getting to know him better, he finally understood that all that was on purpose.

Kang-woo had gone to the States, so maybe he went to a top-tier university there, so what was he doing back at a third-tier one?

He was confused about what these two were doing. What were their life goals?

Kang-woo would probably inherit his father's company but for Chin-hwa, he had no idea. What did he plan to become in life?

When they asked him about it, he became dazed, staring at the distance, as if trying to visualize his future. And then he would say,

"I can't see it. I guess that's for my future self to decide."

It was like he had no motivation, no aspirations, and was just living and going to school for the sake of just going.

It was sad and he wanted to know why.

"We're here." Chin-hwa announced, jolting Yun-tae out of his thoughts.

Yun-tae gripped his arm. Just what was Chin-hwa feeling and what were his thoughts on his life?

Would he one day get fed up and decide to give up? He did not know enough to come to that conclusion but he hoped that that would never be the case.

Chin-hwa always looked like he had a lot on his mind and was shielding away from everything in fear of getting hurt, he presumed.

Or rather... He was already hurt and didn't want to add to it.

"Hwa," Yun-tae called and Chin-hwa turned his head to look at Yun-tae.

"What is it, Yun?"

Yun-tae smiled and suddenly hugged him, wrapping his arms around his neck.

"You're so precious."
