Timeless Hunter: Blood Of Old-Chapter 35: Beserk
He decided to try it, he shot a mana arrow, the ogre kicked Oriana away then bent it upper body to the side to dodge.
Akaris focused and tried to sense his connection with the arrow, it was there but it was faint.
He failed to redirect the arrow, then he suddenly felt a terrible feeling. The ogre raised its sword which shone with black light.
" Shit." He cursed and used future sight then dodged to the side. A crescent blade slash passed through where he was before.
It left a long trail on the ground. He felt sweat fall down his face, if that had hit him he would’ve died immediately even with mana skin.
The ogre ignored him and turned towards Oriana. It raised its sword above its head and held it with both hands.
He knew what was coming and in her current form there was no way she would be able to dodge.
He shot a mana arrow for the ogre’s eye but it slightly tilted its body but he had already released another.
’ Please please please.’ he gritted his teeth and willed the arrow to change trajectory. The ogre dodged, the arrow was about to pass by its face.
Time seemed to slow down then the arrow changed trajectory, it was a slight change but it managed to graze the ogre’s cheek.
He did that in one second but that second allowed Oriana to breach the gap and slash the ogre with her claws.
Three red marks appeared on its neck but its endurance must’ve been high because her claws failed to deliver any significant damage.
Noticing she was now in a predicament her body changed but the process was not fast enough.
Akaris had to buy her time so he shot an arrow straight for the ogre’s face forcing it to dodge only for the arrow to pierce its shoulder.
He was starting to get a hang of changing the trajectory of his arrows even though he felt it was still hard.
Oriana’s body changed then she twisted her body dodging the ogre’s sword swing which drew a large gash on the ground.
The shockwave alone still managed to push her away, in her normal form she was much lighter than her bear form.
A tail and tiger ears grew on her body, she went on all fours and growled, Akaris tried to sneak attack with another mana arrow but failed.
It was as if the ogre had eyes at the back of its head. It raised its sword and blocked the arrow.
Then sent a kick which split the air at Oriana who had pounced on it. She twisted mid air and dodged the kick.
It followed with a punch that shook the air, its fist was larger than her entire head and the force behind it was like a speeding truck.
If the punch landed it would break her bones, but dodging mid air would be hard, fortunately she was not fighting alone.
An arrow pierced through its back, it tried to block with its sword but he changed its trajectory at the last second.
( Archery has reached level 15, archery has reached level 16.) When he received those notifications he grinned.
He felt his mind clear and information flowed into his mind. Ways he can control his own muscles to maximise the effect of his bow.
How to pull the bow correctly but most of all he learnt how to pull the bow string, how to angle the bow and arrows to shoot a curving arrow.
This meant he no longer needed to use his will to change trajectory since that literally gives him a headache.
He followed the instructions of the knowledge in his head, his arrow broke through the sound barrier.
A speed he could only follow due to his extremely high perception and hawk eyes being active.
The ogre swung its sword to deflect the arrow. The arrow shot to the side then disappeared.
Akaris realised his foolishness, this technique can cause the arrow to curve but it couldn’t suddenly change its trajectory.
Meaning the trajectory can still be predicted, however using the first method seemed to put a strain on his mind.
The ogre ignored him and turned to attack Oriana, its body suddenly glowed with a red aura.
He recognised this aura from the bear and knew things were getting serious. However he did not expect what happened next.
The ground beneath the ogre’s feet shattered but instead of attacking Oriana it lunged at him.
Its body turned into a blur even to his heightened eyesight. The next moment it was right in front of his eyes with its sword raised above its head.
Akaris used future sight immediately, he saw it cut him in half from the head down. He tilted his body to the side, the ogre missed him then shifted and swung ity sword horizontally.
He bent backwards allowing the sword to pass above him, he used that opportunity to throw his sword in the air.
He fell on his back and rolled dodging its stomp which shook the ground leaving wide cracks.
Akaris managed to cut his future sight into even smaller fragments. To him there were two ogres.
One which attacked a split moment before the other, that way the future was always accurate regardless of his actions since the ogre wouldn’t have time to adjust.
After stomping the ground it followed with a wide sword swing, he knew he couldn’t dodge even though he saw the attack beforehand.
Blood flew, the ogre paused and looked back and saw a kobold stabbing a katana to its back.
It glared at the small creature with rage then backhanded it. The poor echo flew back like a ragdoll and rolled dozens of metres away.
However it managed to buy time, Oriana appeared, she descended from above with her claws brandished like glowing daggers.
The ogre ignored Akaris which allowed him to retreat. He drew his bow and watched, it punched Oriana and sent her crashing dozens of metres away.
He got ready to face it but it didn’t pay him any mind and focused intently where Oriana was.
She stood up growling with her her body leaning forward and arms dangling, she coughed up blood, a deep fist print was visible on her stomach. A red aura rose and surrounded her body like a blazing flame, her eyes turned red.
" Berserk." He whispered.
