Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Kobolds

That thing was huge, with a wingspan of around 20 metres. Each flap of it wings generated heavy winds.

It stats though terrified him, ’ Wait, did I just see it stats?’ from his understanding, his inspect was too low level to see the stats screen of something that powerful.

It was peculiar but that did not matter right now, the fact that something that powerful was on Karon meant things were bad.

It was at least a field boss, it would’ve been worse had it just been a normal monster. He decided to move away.

The gates were opening from every direction but most monsters that came out were weak goblins and kobolds.

There were of course evolved versions of each group like hobgoblins but they were all below level 10.

He jumped off the roof into the forest, he jumped from tree to tree moving deeper into the city.

He had already reached the peak of what he can achieve right now, if he wanted to grow further he needed to get a class.

To get a class he needed an abyssal anchor, he had no idea what that was nor where to find it.

However he figured it was at the centre of the city, important thing are always at the centre.

He stopped, down below were a group of kobolds lazing about. They were tiny scaled creatures that looked like dogs.

They were just as ugly as goblins, red in colour with giant bat like ears and a canine looking face.

Not fierce like a wolf, more like the face of a dying do but entirely covered in scales. They stood about 1.4 metres tall.

He used inspect on them,

Kobold ( common)

Level 6

Strength:11

Agility:12

Perception:8

Endurance:14

Vitality:10

Will:2

Spirit:1

The others had relative strength as well except for one who stood at the back.

Kobold Knight (uncommon)

Level 9

Strength:20

Agility:18

Perception:14

Endurance:28

Vitality:18

Will:4

Spirit:2

This must the kobold equivalent of a hobgoblin, it was strong but it endurance is what surprised him.

To be honest he shouldn’t have been considering they were covered in scales, he was almost certain this thing was stronger than a normal goblin.

It leaned on a tree and was eating the leg of a horned rabbit. It was larger than the others and wielding a long wooden spear.

Akaris pulled his bow, an arrow formed in just over a second and he released it. It pierced through the air faster than sound.

The poor kobold Knight had no chance to react before it pierced through it head killing it immediately.

( Killed level 9 kobold Knight, experience gained, player has reached maximum level for his rank, experience cannot be contained.)

The other kobolds were caught off guard and stood frozen. Another one dropped dead, they finally reacted but he killed another just as they turned.

They saw him and lunged, only three of them remained. They were short and slow to him, too slow.

He finished them off quickly but not before one of them shrieked loudly, he knew this would draw the attention of others.

He left their corpses there, they were useless to him anyways and ran to another tree a bit further.

He hid behind it leafs and branches, a few seconds later more kobolds showed up, they looked around with their large bulging eyes.

This group was larger with over 15 kobolds, behind them stood four who were as tall as grown human adults.

They were all knights, he figured he should start with them first. He drew his bow and concentrated on the one who looked the strongest.

He was about to release his arrow when he stopped. ’ Why the fuck am I doing this, it’s not like I can gain experience anymore?’

This was just unnecessary risk, he dissipated the mana arrow she hanged his bow on his shoulder.

He jumped off the three into the next one and left but things didn’t go according to plan.

He suddenly saw an arrow flying straight at him, to his eyes the arrow was not moving that fast but it was fast.

Faster than any normal arrow short by a normal human. Still not fast enough to hit him.

He ducked behind the trunk of the tree and the arrow pierced into it. It vibrated but did not fall off.

It had pierced quite deeply into the tree, he peaked and saw the kobold Knight with a bow pull another arrow.

He pulled his own bow, it fired first, unlike him it was using normal arrows and it drawing speed was faster than his mana arrow forming speed.

His arrow formed and he shot his arrow at it, his mana arrow was much faster than it own arrows.

However it appeared they were ready, the largest and strongest looking of them stood forward with a huge iron shield.

Akaris grinned, they underestimated his mana arrow, it can easily pierce through some iron shield.

He could already see the shock in their eyes when the big ugly bastard dies with his shield.

Clang, sparks flew as the sound of clashing metal echoed through the forest. " The fuck."

He couldn’t help but curse, the shield lit up the moment the arrow hit it and deflected his arrow.

He felt danger and jumped into the next tree, the branch he was standing on exploded into splinters.

The arrow that pierced it was glowing with purple light the same way his arrows did when enhanced by mana, except his are blue.

This caught him by surprise and he used inspect on them and realised they were very different from the other knight.

They were all uncommon like the first one but each one had a spirit 9 and above meaning they can use mana.

They also looked smarter than the first one, he now understood what the system meant by monsters can be of the same grade but differ greatly in strength.

This was a perfect example of that, he knew these guys would be hard to deal with as long as the shield kobold was still standing.

So he became his first target.
