Time Travel: The Noble Family-Chapter 1347 - 552: Wanting
Three days after the wedding, it was time for the return visit.
Zhou Yue had someone send a message, saying that Lian Dongfang had agreed to let her bring Zeng Dazhuang on the visit. Deep down, Yuehuan didn’t want to return to the Lian family, but considering the peculiarities of this era, a woman with a family to rely on is better than without.
During the visit, Lian Dongfang did not show up, and it was Tingyi and Tingyuan who hosted Zeng Dazhuang. Zhou Yue pulled Yuehuan aside for a private chat.
Approaching noon, Zhou Yue wanted Yuehuan to meet Maternal Aunt Su, but to her surprise, Yuehuan politely refused. She really had nothing to say to Maternal Aunt Su. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
In the afternoon of the return visit day, Chenghong was brought from the countryside to the Capital City. Chenghong felt a bit scared looking at Zeng Dazhuang, as Zeng Dazhuang reminded Chenghong of those frightening prison guards.
Yuehuan held Chenghong’s hand and said with a smile: "Call him Dad."
Chenghong used to call Qian Tu "Father" and never used the more rustic term "Dad." Chenghong hesitated for a moment, but under Yuehuan’s encouragement, he finally called out softly: "Dad."
Zeng Dazhuang responded with a smile: "Good." This stepson looked gentle and cultivated, though a bit too frail.
After meeting Chenghong, Zeng Dazhuang said to Yuehuan, "I have some matters to attend to outside, so I might not be back for dinner."
Yuehuan saw Zeng Dazhuang off and returned to the room, noticing Chenghong standing there with his head down. Yuehuan held Chenghong’s hand and said, "If you have something on your mind, talk to Mom." Before remarrying, Yuehuan had visited Chenghong at the manor and discussed it with him. Chenghong was neither opposed nor supportive.
Chenghong remained silent.
Yuehuan gently embraced Chenghong and softly said, "In two days, we’ll leave the Capital City for Hunan. From now on, Mom won’t be separated from you."
Chenghong suddenly looked up and asked, "Mom, are you really taking me with you?" He had been worried during this time that once Mom remarried, she would no longer want him. Even though Yuehuan told him she wouldn’t abandon him, he still feared.
Yuehuan laughed and said, "When has Mom ever lied to you? In a couple of days, we’ll be on our way, and once we reach Hunan, Mom will send you to a private school." Although Chenghong wouldn’t be able to take the imperial exams in the future, Yuehuan believed that a child should still receive a good education.
A smile finally appeared on Chenghong’s face: "Okay."
The next day, Zeng Dazhuang took Yuehuan and Chenghong to the Earl of Pingyang’s Mansion, to bid farewell to An Zhichen and Yueyao.
An Zhichen, knowing Zeng Dazhuang was coming, specially took half a day’s leave. The two men conversed in the front yard, while Yuehuan took her son to the back yard to chat with Yueyao.
Yueyao, seeing Yuehuan’s radiant appearance, understood everything. But looking at Chenghong, Yueyao asked, "What’s wrong with this child? He looks much thinner."
Yuehuan laughed and said, "This child has been worried I won’t want him anymore, so he’s been eating poorly and not sleeping well, that’s why he’s so thin now."
Chenghong felt a bit embarrassed. Last night, his mom kept him company until midnight and only returned to her room after he fell asleep, and this morning his stepfather’s attitude towards him was the same as yesterday, not upset at all for his mom spending more time with him. Therefore, Chenghong’s anxiety eased a bit.
Yueyao could understand why Chenghong was so worried. With the Qian family gone, Chenghong only had Yuehuan as his biological mother. If Yuehuan abandoned him due to remarrying, he would truly become an orphan.
Yueyao smiled and said, "Don’t worry, your mom won’t leave you. But you need to be filial to your mom when you grow up, understand?"
Chenghong quickly nodded and said, "I will definitely be filial to Mom in the future."
Gu You led Chenghong away, and Yueyao spoke some intimate words to Yuehuan: "Your brother-in-law still has no children, you must not delay on this matter." If Yuehuan could give birth to a robust son for Zeng Dazhuang, her position would be completely secure.
Yuehuan’s face turned a shade of red, but she knew Yueyao said this for her own good, as this era places importance on lineage. Moreover, having a son means a firm footing, and she can speak with more confidence: "Hmm." After giving birth to Chenghong, she didn’t have more children, not because she couldn’t, but because she didn’t want to. Now, without that concern, Yuehuan decided to have two or three more children, as having more children provides support when they grow up.
After seeing off Yuehuan, Xiang Wei smiled and asked, "Madam, you advised Yuehuan to have children soon, what about you? When are you planning to have another?"
Yueyao was no longer opposed to having more children either: "Such things should happen naturally!" Whether it happens or not, she wouldn’t force it. After all, with three sons already, she needn’t worry about the lineage issue.
