Chapter 235: The dying planet

Jin returned to his mother, and they both walked over to the hole in the ground where the nexus energy was pouring out. Depending on the planet, nexus energy can be expelled like this in order to nurture the world, but the planet has to do it on its own, not be forced into doing it.

"Find any useful information?" Jessa asked, staring into the hole.

"Yeah. The planet has been fighting against these people for the past four months and has finally lost. That’s why it called out to me. However, judging by how much nexus energy the planet lost, I can confidently say that the planet is dying."

"What?! The planet is dying?! H-How will we survive if that’s the case?"

Jin waved his hand, brushing off his mother’s concerns. "Don’t worry, it’s not what you may think."

"What do you mean?"

"There is a difference between a planet dying and being destroyed. Destoyed is when it blows up and shit. Dying is when the planet has to go through its rebirth stage again. So basically, all life will be wiped out, the surface will be molten, you get the picture."

"H-How much time do we have left?"

"Hmmm. Around a million years, give or take."

"Oh, phew, you scared me! I thought it would be sooner."

Jin didn’t understand why she was happy that the amount of time they had left was a million years until he remembered that she wasn’t used to living for that long.

"Heh." He chuckled

"What’s so funny?"

"You. Did you know that your lifespan will eventually reach that point the more you comprehend your Law? And it will continue to increase the more laws you comprehend. Also, since you reached the peak of mortality, you are immortal in lifespan. You can still get killed, but if you aren’t killed in any type of way, you’ll live forever."

"W-Wait, what?!"

"Pwahaha! Welcome to the world of magic, mother. Your first century, millennia, and megaannum are all very amazing to expierence. After that, they feel normal. Time passes by fast as well. One day, you’re 30, then the next, you’re pushing 300,000. Trust me, one million years is very short, especially on the cosmic scale."

"I-I don’t think I’m ready to live that long." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Don’t worry. No one is for the first time. It gets easier the longer you live. Now, let’s fix this shit." Jin lifted his hands, his mana wrapping around all of the Nexus energy flowing into the air, then he slammed his hands on the ground, forcing the energy back into the core.

He then closed off the hole and made sure there weren’t any leaks.

"Will that help?"

Jin shrugged. "It should. The nexus energy will flow inside the planet once more, so it should recover. It’s like giving oxygen to a person who was lacking it. They could still die, end up recovering, or recover with lasting injuries. It all just depends."

"I see. Well, let’s head back home since we’re done here."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

Jessa was confused. "What? We fixed the problem, right? We can leave now."

"Ohhh, hahahaha! No, we’re not done. We have a spectator who’s been watching us this entire time." Jin turned around and looked at a tree, and a woman stepped out of it.

"When did you find out?" The woman asked

"The moment I arrived. Your stealth sucks. Who are you?"

She took offense to that since her natural ability was stealth, but it didn’t matter since she was going to kill them anyway, or at least injure Jin really badly.

"People call me Clear." She answered.

"I got this one, son. I want to test out the limits of my power, and she looks strong." Jessa cracked her knuckles, and her expression changed, becoming more maniacal.

"Alright. Be careful, though. I can see that she’s nearly a demigod. I didn’t know that Eve had people like this."

"Superhuman, demigod, it doesn’t matter. They’ll all die the same." Sound and light couldn’t keep up with Jessa’s speed as she approached the woman.

Even Jin was surprised by how fast she moved. He was extremely fast as well, and he could use the law of time like his mother.

"Knock knock, bitch!" She clobbered the woman in the face, and like before, carved a trench into the planet’s crust.

But that wasn’t all, she used her law of time to reverse the flow of time, resetting everything except for the damage she inflicted, then punched the woman again, this time in the gut.

"Haha! Fuck this is so fun!" She sped behind Clear and kicked her in the back, followed by appearing in front of her to knee Clear in the face.

Since time was moving extremely slowly for Jessa, Clear appeared to be floating as if she were in space. She continued to lay the smack down on Clear, not realizing that Clear’s eyes were speeding up, following Jessa’s movements each time she picked up her feet.

And then it happened.

When Jessa was about to attack again, Clear managed to move her body, and she punched Jessa in the face while also being punched in the face, both of them being blasted back by their attacks.

"Ha! That’s what you get for being cocky, Mom." Jin could see everything that was going on and had already noticed Clear’s eye matching her movements.

"Yup, that’s on me." Jessa got up and cracked her neck. "Ah, to be honest, that felt good. My neck was getting a bit stiff."

"Allow me to take your neck off for you then." A slash of magical energy nearly took Jessa’s head off, cutting through trees and rocks as if they were paper. They left magical residue on everything they touched, so when Jessa got back up from dodging, everything around her exploded.

Time froze, but Clear walked right through it, weaving hand signs and slamming her hand on the ground.

One massive magic circle appeared, and a pillar of light surrounded Jessa, trapping her inside it.

"You can die now." One final magic circle spawned over the pillar of light, and a dragon made of lightning rained down on Jessa, causing an explosion so destructive that the pillar of light that acted as a shield warped and nearly shattered.

"That was really cool." Jin had to admit.
