Chapter 234: Nexus Fighters...But they’re weak

Finding where the planet was being hurt didn’t take long, especially with how fast Jin and Jessa were moving. When he focused his senses on the planet, more specifically, inside it, he could sense where the nexus energy was being cut off.

There was one problem, though, and it was that he felt multiple individuals absorbing the energy. Ten to be specific. Each of them was very powerful, powerful enough to beat Jin prior to his current training.

This was because of the nexus energy they were absorbing, so he wasn’t surprised. Still, the fact that ten random women are suddenly absorbing nexus energy means that there was someone else who told them about this power, someone who Jin suspected to be Eve.

"Son, is everything okay?" Jessa was wondering why Jin was constantly looking down instead of moving, and wondered if he was seeing something or was thinking.

"I don’t know." Jin looked up, watching the flowing Nexus energy rise into the air, where it was being fed into a portal. He had no idea what that portal was being used for, but since he was here to help the world, he destroyed it, cutting off the flow of nexus energy.

"What?"

"What’s going on?"

"The power isn’t going into the portal anymore."

"No, the portal has been closed."

"But by whom?"

The ten women were extremely confused by what had just happened, but one of them happened to spot Jin floating in the air and pointed at him.

"Look who’s here, girls. It’s Jin."

"How did he find us?"

"No idea, but let’s kill him!"

"Hell yeah!"

"I agree. He killed my sister."

"Wait. We can’t. Madam Eve wishes to kill him, and if we kill him, then she’ll kill us."

"Fair point. Let’s rough him up then."

"I’m on board."

"I wish to test out this new power of mine before it goes away."

"Same here."

The ten of them flew into the sky, appearing before Jin and Jessa with smug expressions.

"What were you all doing?" Jin demanded to know.

"None of your business. But if you lick my feet, then maybe I’ll tell you a thing or two."

"Haha, nice one."

Jin frowned. "I’ll just get it out of your corpse then."

"I wouldn’t try that if I were you. We’re powered up by this nexus energy. Knowing you, I’m sure you understand how powerful we are now." This specific woman powered up, showcasing her new strength.

To any other person, this would have killed them on the spot, and Jin previously would have been affected by this, but now, he felt nothing.

"Get ready to become my bit—"

Jin swiped his arm, space splitting in half, and the woman’s head was cut clean off in an instant. There was no buildup in power, no visual queue, and Jin moved so fast that they couldn’t even see his arm swipe the air.

"W-What?"

The woman dropped to the ground, blood falling like rain, and the rest were left stunned.

"Now, let me ask again. What were you all doing?"

The nine of them rushed in to attack.

"Now this is what I’m talking about!" Jessa stepped on the air, using mana as a footstool, and time broke all around them. A pulse of chono energy rippled outward, the scenery losing color and fading into black.

The pulse then reversed, culinating into Jessa’s right arm, and she ran toward one of the women at blinding speeds. The moment her fist connected with the woman’s chest, hitting her with a super speed punch, time broke around the woman’s body.

She instantly grew old, her skin decayed, her bones turned to dust, and finally, once the actual shockwave of the punch occurred, it sent the dusty bones flying, carving a massive line in the earth’s crust.

"Oh shit!" Jessa had no idea she was this strong.

"Mom! We LITERALLY just had this conversation not too long ago."

"Sorry!" She knew he was talking about how she was powerful enough to destroy the planet.

"They’re crazy! Run!"

The remaining eight women fled, not trying to get killed the same way their companions did.

"I got them!" Jessa nearly ran after them.

"No, stay put. I’ll handle this. Watch that nexus pool."

"Awl, okay."

Jin moved in a zigzag pattern, shifting through space like an object that was stuttering in real time, and appeared in front of the women in an instant.

He held out his hand, pulling the woman in front into his grasp while the others were cut in half, some vertically and others horizontally.

"P-Please don’t kill me! Please! I’m sorry! I’ll talk! I’ll talk!"

"No. I don’t need you to talk. I just need your mind." Jin peeked into the woman’s mind, but it was blocked by Eve’s spell. This time, however, Jin was prepared.

Since he practices the Law of Souls, he would be able to bypass the mental spell Eve had put up. If she made the spell with the law of souls, then that would have been a different problem; thankfully, she didn’t.

He extracted her soul from her body, something he wished he could do to his old body, and looked into her mind.

Jin saw her speaking with her companions and also speaking to Eve. He learned that his body was so powerful that normal souls wouldn’t be able to survive in it, and she needed nexus energy to power up the soul.

That was something Jin actually never knew. He had always used the same normal soul from the time he was taken up until now, so he didn’t know his soul was actually being strengthened over time.

Normally, he strengthened his soul on his own, so this was never a problem for him. Or maybe it was because that was his actual body, so he never suffered any negative effects. He was going to look into this later.

"Eve started extracting Nexus energy four and a half months ago, so the souls are most likely already powered up. There’s nothing I can do to stop that, unfortunately. For now, I’ll just help strengthen the world so it can help me in the future, maybe."
