Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Having Someone Dote on You Is the Best!

Iris Crawford used to spar with Lachlan Wyatt with a smile, never once revealing her emotions like this.

No matter how angry she got, she never showed any resentment towards Lachlan.

But now. π—³π—Ώπžπ•–π˜„π—²π•“π—»πš˜πšŸπ•–π₯.πšŒπ• π•ž

The emotions in her eyes made it impossible for Lachlan to look directly at her.

After being pushed away, Lachlan’s hand paused in mid-air, watching Iris’s indifferent expression. For the first time, his heart began to race.

He had always thought their relationship would never reach such a point, yet now he found it hard to grasp.

"Do you have any issues with me?"

"No." Iris replied quickly, "I owe you too much. After all, if you count it up, you’ve helped me more. I was just thinking of repaying this debt of gratitude ahead of time."

Hearing Iris say this, Lachlan frowned, "Why would you say that? What do you mean by a debt of gratitude, Iris... I’m not doing this expecting anything in return from you..."

"The only thing I can do is treat this as a debt of gratitude." Otherwise, if I see it as your kindness towards me, I’ll only fall deeper.

This left Lachlan unsure how to respond, leading to a moment of silence between them.

Iris cast a final cold glance at Lachlan, then opened the car door and got in. She quickly stepped on the gas, as if afraid she might change her mind.

If you’re decisive enough, the heartache will only last a moment.

Driving away, Iris headed onto the main road, the wind rushing past her ears, blowing through her thick long hair.

Lachlan, I misunderstood that there was some mutual affection between us.

Now that the misunderstanding has been cleared, we’re even.

Her fingers tapped impatiently on the steering wheel, and then she made a call to Seraphina Colbert.

"I’m at the dojo." Seraphina, having just showered, answered Iris’s call with some surprise, "Not at the shop today, if you want to come, find me at the dojo. There’s some fruit wine here, I can mix a drink for you."

Iris didn’t say much, just responded and headed straight for the Hawthorne Dojo where Seraphina was. This time, no one dared to stop her. Last time she made such a fuss, everyone at the dojo recognized Iris’s face.

There’s even a saying going around, have you heard about the Crawford family lady? That red-nailed little hellion!

The "red-nailed little hellion" was now heading into the dojo, and passersby turned away at the sight of her, as if she was at home, until someone stopped her deep inside.

Jude Hawthorne stood outside, dressed in training clothes, looking like he’d just come down from the dojo. When he wasn’t speaking, his sword-like brows and starry eyes were quite handsome, wild and untamed with his bronzed skin. Too bad, Iris already knew the truth behind his facade, so she naturally said with disdain, "Step aside."

"Who are you looking for?"

"Seraphina Colbert."

Jude clicked his tongue, seemingly grinding his teeth in restraint before ultimately moving aside.

Iris said with amusement, "You’re actually letting me through?"

"Your brother included that explicitly in the contract when he made a deal with me." Jude smiled insincerely, clearly annoyed, "I’m damn impressed. Never seen a sibling who’d include ’allow my sister Iris Crawford unrestricted access to the Hawthorne Dojo’ in the business contract. It’s goddamn ridiculous."

Listen to him, the number of swears in one sentence! Less refined than Lachlan.

Iris sashayed in victoriously, even bumping into Jude, "Can’t help it, I’m spoiled. If you’re not satisfied, find yourself a doting brother."

"Brother?"

Jude sneered, "I only have a brother who’s kicked out of the family registry."

Martin Hawthorne, that tedious elder brother.

Iris wasn’t in the mood for further conversation with him, so she went inside to find Seraphina awaiting her. Seeing Seraphina, Iris’s mood improved a bit, "Seraphina..."

"I just heard from Jude about you being taken away today." Seraphina pulled her to sit down, "Lachlan went straight to Jude to request backup to save you, it shocked me. He seemed frantic."

"Don’t mention Lachlan." Iris felt a sting at the mention, "Who knows whether his urgency was for me or someone else."

"Could it be for someone else?" Seraphina, unaware of Lachlan’s past, first witnessed his anxious state, surprised there was more going on, "Then we shouldn’t bother with him! Iris, how about looking at other guys around you? What do you think of James Chesterton!"

James is indeed good, dependable, handsome, wealthy, and well-mannered, a perfect example of the noble family gentleman, but Iris just doesn’t vibe with him.

Iris scratched her head, "Am I pathetic, liking flashy types?"
