Chapter 86: Chapter 79: Northern Domain Expansion

Thick foliage in the jungle, giant trees towering to the sky.

A fully armed squad of goblins walked cautiously among the trees, their large feet creating a rustling sound on the dry leaves.

Crackle~

From within the thick dead leaves, a large red-shelled centipede suddenly emerged, its hundred pairs of sharp feet moving and slicing. A goblin warrior walking on the left barely had time to make an instinctive attack move before being sliced into pieces of dead flesh by numerous sharp feet.

"Gather!" The goblin captain promptly reacted, calling the warriors to gather around it.

The red-shelled centipede coldly watched them form a defensive formation, its fearsome mouthparts slowly feeding on the blood and flesh of the deceased goblin warrior.

The taste was average, but it was firm and springy. This was the red-shelled centipede’s impression after sampling the flesh.

With only nine goblins left, one warrior quickly took out a bone whistle from his pocket and blew it.

The sharp sound of the emergency bone whistle traveled far.

All around, squads of ten goblin warriors raised their heads upon hearing the bone whistle and quickly ran towards the source of the sound.

As the red-shelled centipede lazily consumed flesh, its small eyes narrowed slightly when it heard the whistle sound. It threw down the flesh, and its fierce mouthparts let out an angry screech, as its giant centipede form turned into a red blur, attacking the goblin squad.

Being prepared for the red-shelled centipede, the goblin captain was the first to launch an attack, tightly gripping a giant Wolf Fang Club weighing several hundred kilograms and slamming it onto the centipede demon’s enormous head.

The hard red shell collided with the Wolf Fang Club, producing a loud, dull sound. The shell slightly dented, leaking some red blood. The red-shelled centipede shook its somewhat dizzy head, with magic flowing within its body. Spell-like abilities activated, and its sharp, glowing red legs frantically sliced into the Wolf Fang Club, creating dozens of huge gaps in the refined iron-made metal club in an instant.

The goblin captain looked at his beloved weapon now ragged, feeling immeasurable shock and anger, gritting his teeth as he withdrew the club, his muscles bulging, and then struck violently again onto the red-shelled centipede’s head.

The red-shelled centipede let out a wailing sound, fell into frenzy, knocked aside the goblin captain, and dove into the goblin squad. After a bout of blood and rain, the ground was covered with piles of green flesh.

"Damn demon!" The goblin captain, standing over two meters tall, saw several warriors killed at once, and instantly became furious, chasing after the red-shelled centipede with strides.

After a tangle, the goblin captain, whose left arm was neatly severed, panted heavily while confronting a lightly injured red-shelled centipede.

The crackling sound arose, and the red-shelled centipede prepared to launch a final attack to kill the troublesome goblin. Just then, a black flash flew from afar in the jungle, striking the centipede’s body, sending its massive form rolling away.

Surrounding them, robust goblin warriors armed with weapons dashed forth from the jungle, including a particularly large goblin warrior nearly four meters tall. He coldly extracted a second dark javelin from his back, his muscles bulging, as the refined iron javelin powered by terrifying strength hit the red-shelled centipede again with precision.

The red-shelled centipede screeched and writhed, its ten-meter-long form now pinned with two javelins, its shell shattered, crimson blood continuously seeping, staining the dark javelins into a blood-red hue, emitting a sizzling corrosive sound. Apparently, the centipede’s blood contained a terribly potent poison.

Facing the threat of death, the red-shelled centipede frantically spent its immense internal magic power, turning crimson like it was glowing, darting like a phantom towards the jungle beside it, attempting to escape this place. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Unexpectedly, just as the red-shelled centipede was escaping a distance, it was obstructed, its view elevated, amazed to find itself caught within a giant’s hands. Desperate, it quickly swung its crimson legs to crazily slice at the giant’s hands. Under the rapid slicing of its razor-sharp centipede legs, the giant’s hands soon became ragged, but terrifyingly, within a breath, the ragged flesh healed by half.

With a snap, the centipede’s head was forcibly pulled off by the giant hand and then shoved into its mouth. After swallowing the centipede’s head, the giant still felt somewhat unsatisfied and straightforwardly chewed the still instinctively writhing centipede remains like spicy sticks.

Noises arose in the jungle as the pursuing goblins and big goblin warriors witnessed the scene of the red-shelled centipede’s last segment being swallowed by the giant.

"Greetings, Commander Mondo."

The strongest of the goblins, the big goblin warrior Carl Green Forest, respectfully said to the giant. Carl, whose muscle-bulging form approached four meters, appeared thin and pitiable like a half-grown child in front of the terrifying giant over six meters tall.

"Hmm, it’s Carl, has the threat been resolved?" Mondo belched, rubbed his thick-skinned, muscular belly, feeling a spicy, warm sensation in his throat and stomach.

Carl glanced at the ground where several centipede feet had fallen, remained silent for a second, and then replied,

"...It has already been eaten by Commander Mondo..."

"Hmm? I ate it?" Mondo widened his eyes, a bit incredulous, took a second to react, then dug out a piece of red shell from between his teeth,

"You mean this multi-legged dragon?"

Giant centipedes are generally classified as dragon species because these giant centipede demons usually have dragon lineage within. As for the source of this bloodline, what type of dragon... there’s word that it originates from Otherworldly Dragons.

Otherworldly Dragons are the type of dragon species elongated like snakes, unrelated bloodline-wise to giant dragons. Giant dragons are generally creations of the Dragon God, whereas Otherworldly Dragons are native dragon species of the Star Realm Material Plane.

In terms of power? Otherworldly Dragons can be both strong and weak, but even the weakest ones have a biological level of no less than Level 15 upon reaching adulthood. Plenty of Otherworldly Dragons with strong lineage reach the Legendary level upon maturity.

"Correct." Carl confirmed with a nod, secretly marvelling at Commander Mondo’s prowess.

This red-shelled multi-legged dragon was at the very least Level 7-8, even after being hit with two full-strength javelins, remained lively. Yet, in Commander Mondo’s hands, it was as weak as a Forest Snake, easily slain and devoured.

The Forest Snake is a snake species with an adult length reaching eight to nine meters, but it doesn’t possess magic or spell-like abilities; it’s just a common beast. As monster clan warriors initially explored this territory, they mostly encountered these Forest Snakes. At first, facing such large creatures made the warriors slightly tense, thinking they were Intermediate Demons, but upon engagement, they discovered its strength was only Level 3, struggling in one-on-one fights against ordinary clan warriors.

Do note, all monster warriors venturing to explore the northern region of the Dark Forest were at least Level 4.

Teams sent to clear demons, beasts, and other dangers were generally composed of a Level 5-6 captain partnered with nine Level 4 warriors.
