This Giant Dragon is So Powerful!-Chapter 76 - 73: Roy’s Submission
Regarding the slave trade, the Kas Duchy is adjacent to the Yalbit Kingdom, which occasionally leads to small-scale conflicts and wars, thereby creating a large number of slaves. However, since both nations have armies patrolling the borders day and night, slave-catching activities are difficult to conduct. But if a slave-trading route could be opened through the Dark Forest here... then wealth would naturally flow into Your Majesty’s coffers.
The final business of robbery... The Kas Duchy and the Yalbit Kingdom often have merchant caravans cross the national borders to sell various goods unique to each country. Many, in order to avoid the military, choose to travel along the road near the outskirts of the Dark Forest. If Your Majesty could dispatch elite Monster Warriors to launch attacks on these merchant caravans, there would certainly be great profits, and if these acquired goods are deemed unnecessary by you, our Higlind family would be more than willing to assist in selling them...."
Udi listened intently to Roy’s presentation, and couldn’t help but marvel once again.
Humans truly have a knack for this.
Not to say Udi was never human, but his thoughts were never this complex, shrewd, or cunning.
It’s fair to say that Roy is gifted, a born merchant, with a heart ruthless enough.
The mining veins aside, the acts of slave trading and robbing are no less sinful than the murder and plundering perpetrated by Evil Dragons, possibly even more so.
"You’ve convinced me, but for such a scale of business, don’t you think you should pay some price and offer some stakes?" Udi spoke calmly, as the massive menacing Black Dragon head overlooked Roy. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Price...." Roy’s expression subtly changed, then respectfully said, "Certainly, to show sincerity, our Higlind family is willing to yield eighty percent of the profits from this business!"
Heh.
Udi snorted disdainfully, no longer concealing his thoughts, he directly said,
"Accept my contract, become my servant, represent me in the Human Realm!
And as for benefits, I can promise you that your Higlind family will be given dominance over the Kas Duchy!"
"This..." Roy’s face showed an unpredictable mix of hesitation, temptation, and struggle, but he suddenly gritted his teeth, respectfully kneeling before Udi,
"Roy is willing to bow under Your Majesty’s mighty Dragon Wings."
"Very good, your choice will make you grateful for life." Udi spoke indifferently, seemingly unconcerned with the allegiance of a High-level Mage.
The Dragon Scales shed during previous growth flew out from the gap in his Reversed Scale, accompanied by squeezed-out Dragon Blood, and under the solemn chanting of Dragon Language, the Dragon Scale Contract Book flew towards Roy, eventually smoothly integrating into his forehead.
The Power of the Dragon Vein began to transform Roy’s body intensely.
However, as a High-level Mage, although his physical strength in comparison to warriors of the same level is much inferior, decades of Magic Power washing and strengthening had reached the threshold of a Mid-level Professional, so the excruciating pain from the Dragon Vein transformation did not cause Roy to lose his composure, he merely furrowed his brow and sweat coldly.
In a mere moment, the transformation was complete.
Upon feeling an additional Spiritual Connection in his mind, which enabled full control over Roy’s life through this connection, Udi grinned.
Just like that, he managed to coax a High-level Mage into becoming a servant, with an entire long-established family behind him.
The people, channels, resources, and information it represented behind are even more unquantifiable benefits.
Even without considering the family’s influence, a simple High-level Mage alone was enough to make Udi genuinely excited.
The strength and methods of a Mage can hardly be compared to ordinary professionals. A Level 10 ordinary professional warrior, with Udi’s current full strength unleashed, could likely be killed in one face-to-face encounter, and escaping wouldn’t be an option.
But replace it with a Level 10 ordinary mage, regardless of winning or losing, if they mastered a Master-level Teleportation Magic-like Skill, Udi probably couldn’t keep them from escaping unless they were unprepared for magic beforehand and the distance wasn’t too far, then perhaps there’s a chance of a surprise attack to kill.
However, those who grow into High-level Mages are almost all formidable figures selected through rigorous tests, genuinely strong in both mind and power—such rookie attributes like underestimating the enemy are not easily found in them.
This is one of the two reasons why Udi chose to coax Roy rather than using violence.
The other reason being, even if using violence could defeat the opponent, it would also disclose Udi’s actual strength to them. A Level 9 Abnormal Black Dragon, while powerful and with extraordinary potential, trying to get a High-level Mage to willingly serve is indeed much harder than making them bow to an Adult Black Dragon.
This is a very realistic matter.
Potential is, after all, just potential until it’s converted into real power. Sometimes not only does it fail to make people bow and serve, it instead breeds dissent.
What value does an Abnormal Dragon, with remarkable potential but not exceptionally strong, truly have?
Enslavement, research, trading...
If given a thought, there would probably be many eager beings ready to move.
After the initial Dragon Vein transformation was complete, Roy left the Black Blood Valley with a mission.
.....
"Though serving under a Black Dragon may be constraining, the result suggests this was the best choice."
Walking out of Black Blood Valley, feeling the surge of a serene Power of the Dragon Vein within, Roy’s face bore an uncontrollable expression of excitement and thrill, the reluctant look when accepting the Servant Contract in the valley could no longer be found.
His life span was already nearing its end, and his potential almost exhausted; reaching High-level Mage status was achieved through outside aid, and achieving Master-level Mage was out of reach, even progressing one or two steps further to levels eleven or twelve was uncertain.
And now?
With a strong Adult Black Dragon as backing, that’s one.
The lifespan extension from the Dragon Vein transformation would allow Roy to live an additional hundred or two hundred years, that’s two.
The aptitude and potential enhancement from the Dragon Vein made the Mage’s Level advancement easier, that’s three!
Roy was already intentionally guiding the Black Dragon towards dependence and favor when he risked discussing business and the immense benefits involved.
Only in this way could he increase his stakes, prompting an arrogant Adult Black Dragon to sign a Servant Contract with him!
In Roy’s view, with the arrogance and power of an Adult Black Dragon, they may not see a Level 10 Mage as insignificant but wouldn’t place too much importance either, so even if Roy voluntarily submitted, the Adult Black Dragon might not accept him under their wing.
Many Adult Black Dragons might prefer to kill their opponent outright, feast upon the corpse, and loot their wealth—it might be even more convenient for them.
"And the Dragon Blood, with the Dragon Blood given by the master, the family’s overall strength will swiftly rise to a higher tier!" Roy thought of the bottles of Dragon Blood stored in the spatial bag, feeling even more delighted.
As for whether the aura and traits from Dragon Blood transformation would be exposed?
No matter, exposure begets exposure.
Because humans transformed by Dragon Blood have other designations among humans.
Dragon Blood Warriors, Dragon Vein Mages.
Among humans, many families and individuals possess dragon bloodline, it’s not an uncommon occurrence.
Some are remnants of Giant Dragon bloodlines, some are bloodlines from slaying dragons (including Giant Dragons and Sub-dragons).
Thus, exposure wouldn’t make anyone suspect that the Higlind family had aligned with a Black Dragon, only envy and ponder the good fortune of the Higlind family having acquired Dragon Blood.
....
Black Blood Valley, Dragon Pool.
Udi accepted the spatial bag containing traded goods from Kadan, infused it with Magic Power, glanced at the contents inside, then set it aside, and lowered his head to instruct Kadan,
"You’re to oversee Roy’s matters entirely from now on."
"As you command." Kadan bowed respectfully.
"Alright, you may leave."
"Yes."
Kadan left promptly.
Udi watched Kadan depart, and the information about him flickered in Udi’s view.
[Mage Level: Tier Seven High][Biological Level: Tier Eight High]
"His Biological Level surpasses his Mage Level..." Udi murmured silently.
This is understandable, under the feedback of the Servant Contract and Kadan’s own progression, surpassing Mage Level seems quite normal.
The advancement of caster level requires substantial growth in Spiritual Power, making it relatively slow to elevate.
