This Doctor Is Too Wealthy-Chapter 466 - 427 Untouchable attitude_2
"The use of these sites is currently a bit chaotic, and the arrangements are unreasonable. Moreover, as the evaluation process progresses, our infrastructure and equipment must also keep up. I’m a bit too busy to handle this, Dean Ruoge, but could you take charge of these matters for the hospital?" Du Heng proposed.
This genuinely surprised Cui Guanghai. If the previous matters were merely about task allocation, then Du Heng was now directly delegating significant power, handing over the management of the hospital’s logistics and administration to him. This meant that aside from the two main powers of personnel and finance, which hadn’t been released, Cui Guanghai could now make decisions completely on his own.
Is there a trap? he wondered. Even if there is, I have to jump in. Isn’t this exactly the kind of work I enjoy most?
Once Cui Guanghai happily agreed, Du Heng immediately summoned Secretary Lu.
Lu... how should I put it? Du Heng mused. Lu was a good person, enthusiastic and willing to work, but his abilities were, frankly, a notch below Cui Guanghai’s and Yu Haiting’s. The Health Clinic had reached its current stage thanks in no small part to Lu’s early contributions. However, as the clinic aimed for further development, he was struggling to keep up.
Moreover, Lu was due to retire in another year. In terms of age and physical stamina, he couldn’t compare to Cui Guanghai and Yu Haiting, who were in their prime. So, Du Heng could only tactfully suggest that Lu focus on some of the more conceptual aspects of the hospital’s work, aiming to enrich the spiritual life of the entire hospital’s medical staff as much as possible.
Lu was quite reasonable and didn’t make things difficult for Du Heng. Although not entirely willing, he still accepted.
In a similar vein, Du Heng also granted Lu significant actual authority: the financial approval power. This was intended to create a system of supervision and checks and balances against Cui Guanghai. After all, Cui Guanghai hadn’t made a good first impression on Du Heng, especially during the year-end summary meeting, where he had come across as slightly greedy.
With Du Heng’s promise, Lu Zhongjiang felt considerably happier and walked out of Du Heng’s office with a lighter step.
The last one was Yu Haiting. As the dean responsible for professional capabilities, Du Heng had quite a few dissatisfactions with him. However, after a year of experience, Du Heng had made significant progress in management. He didn’t directly voice his dissatisfaction as he might have before; instead, he adopted a different approach.
"Yu, we have quite a few new doctors, and most of them just graduated last year and don’t have their practice qualification yet," Du Heng began. "My idea is for you to organize a licensing exam training class for these students. After work each day, they can continue studying for two to three hours. Then, we’ll have regular assessments, aiming for a 100% pass rate by the end of the year."
Yu Haiting nodded, looking somewhat blank. He didn’t quite understand why Du Heng was arranging such a training class and naively assumed it was purely for the benefit of the new graduates.
"How should we arrange the teachers for this training?" Yu Haiting asked.
"You and I will both teach. Looking at Dean Ruoge’s resume, he’s also a surgeon, so schedule him for one class a week. Also, include Han, Wu Buwei, and Xiao Li in the arrangements."
Hearing this, Yu Haiting slowly began to understand. Du Heng’s plan was to pull everyone, good or not so good, into this training program. Whether they were teaching or being trained, everyone would have to study.
To confirm his suspicion, Yu Haiting deliberately asked, "What about the Department of Health Care...?"
"It doesn’t matter if they think it’s useful or not. Schedule classes for everyone with a professional qualification."
Alright, so Du Heng is dissatisfied with the hospital’s medical staff, Yu Haiting finally realized.
Du Heng, however, paid no mind to Yu Haiting’s thoughts and continued, "Also, it would be best to arrange a monthly assessment for all doctors and nurses."
Yu Haiting now understood perfectly. I need to go back and find out who on earth managed to tick off Du Heng, he thought. "Will this assessment be scheduled regularly or irregularly? Will it be comprehensive, or just spot checks?"
"Conduct irregular spot checks with no fixed number of participants. This way, it won’t affect everyone’s normal work."
"Alright, I understand."
Du Heng nodded. "Take this matter seriously and come up with a plan as soon as possible. Also, to encourage everyone to be more proactive, we can no longer distribute monthly bonuses haphazardly. In the training class, new students who learn well and make rapid progress should be rewarded, so they can focus on their studies. For our medical staff, besides workload, we also need to consider assessment results. Those with good results will receive larger bonuses, and those with poor results will have their bonuses deducted accordingly."
Yu Haiting was already offering a silent prayer for these people; someone among them had definitely angered Du Heng. "So, how will the bonus distribution and deduction ratios be arranged?"
"Discuss this with Wang Zhenzhen and Dean Ruoge. My principle is that bonuses are to motivate learning, and deductions serve the same purpose. It should absolutely not be about docking pay as a goal."
"So, Dean, you mean if they pass the assessment or show improvement, their deducted bonuses will still be given to them?"
"Of course. These bonuses are earned through their workload. If they pass the assessment, why shouldn’t they receive what they’ve earned? However, there should be a time limit. Let’s set three months as the standard. If someone fails the assessment three consecutive times, the deducted bonus will not be returned."
Yu Haiting pursed his lips and asked hesitantly, "What if they have objections?"
Du Heng didn’t speak, just stared intently at Yu Haiting.
Yu Haiting instantly realized he had asked a rather foolish question. Just as he was about to speak, there was a knock on the office door.
Du Heng glanced at Yu Haiting again, then said, "Come in."
A somewhat familiar face entered. Du Heng couldn’t recall the name but knew this person was an internist from Western Internal Medicine who had been transferred here around October of the previous year.
Yu Haiting also looked at the newcomer. "Xiao Zheng, is something wrong?"
"Hello, Dean. Director Yu, I have a patient. Could you help me take a look?"
"Is it urgent?" Yu Haiting frowned. "If not, I’ll come over after I finish my meeting with Dean Du."
Doctor Zheng nodded. "It’s a bit urgent."
Du Heng spoke up, "Yu, go take a look. We’re done here."
Yu Haiting nodded, then rose and left with Doctor Zheng. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
After Yu Haiting departed, Du Heng checked the time: it was already 9:30 AM. He quickly gathered his things to head to the Provincial First Hospital; Wu Shengnan’s condition weighed heavily on his mind.
However, he hadn’t even reached the door with his bag when Wang Zhenzhen blocked his path.
Seeing Wang Zhenzhen’s furious expression, Du Heng gave an awkward chuckle and slowly retreated into his office.
Why is she so angry? Du Heng knew perfectly well. Gong Daoyang had injured his collarbone on New Year’s Eve. For the entire seven-day holiday that followed, Gong Daoyang had holed himself up at the police station. No matter who from the family called and urged him to come home, he refused. Even when his eldest daughter requested a video call to see her father, he declined, claiming he was out on duty.
Today, Wang Zhenzhen had come to work. As soon as Du Heng’s morning meeting concluded, she had marched straight to the police station across the street. Throughout the entire vacation, Gong Daoyang hadn’t told his family about his injury, and Du Heng hadn’t breathed a word of it to Wang Zhenzhen either.
Now, seeing her husband so badly hurt, it was no wonder she was furious.
Du Heng chuckled sheepishly as he backed into his office. "Zhenzhen, what can I do for you?"
"I need to take leave."
Du Heng was taken aback. "We just started the workday. Why are you asking for leave already?"
Wang Zhenzhen patted her prominent belly. "To have the baby."
"Wait, Zhenzhen, you still have another month before your due date! Besides, we’re right here at the hospital. Why do you need to take leave?"
"I just got very upset, and it’s affected the baby. I need to go home and rest to protect the pregnancy."
Seeing Wang Zhenzhen’s enraged face, Du Heng could only apologize profusely and try to explain, telling her about Gong Daoyang’s worries on that night.
It took a great deal of coaxing before he finally managed to calm her down, and she reluctantly gave up her insistence on taking immediate leave to rest at home.
