The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 240: Trading mercy.
"Mercy!!" Alix exclaimed. Her eyes were wide, mostly in disbelief. She opened her mouth and laughed loudly. It was unbelievably surprising the things Billi said and did. In what way had she shown her any mercy? Billi had stabbed invisible daggers into every part of Alix's body all through the years.
She even as far as to poach any talented students of Songbird music academy when Alix had just started out, recommending them to other schools.
She framed Alix for a lot more things over the years with the goal of ruining her reputation. Whenever Alix was down in the mud, she would show up with a smile and offer some little money for one of Alix's compositions, which Alix always rejected. Billi's goal had always been and would always be to watch Alix squirm like a worm beneath her feet.
"So that was mercy." Alix chortled and tsked. 'Okay, then I will begin showing you my own version of mercy Billi. I hope you don't hate your older...., no, younger sister too much. Mercy goes both ways after all, it must be traded."
She turned around as well, and flipped her long hair backwards. The wind blew a few strands and sent them flying in the air. Her mocking laughter did not stop, even as she entered the car.
The laughter followed Lin Billi all the way to her own car. It prompted her to turn around just once and she sneered in the direction of Alix's car. "She has gone fucking crazy." she mumbled.
She looked at her manager and ordered, "Retrieve all the footage and materials from that reporter we paid off. I don't want a word of this conversation getting out."
She entered the car on her own and pulled a mirror out of her bag to look at her face. The goal of meeting Alix in the police parking had been to warn her and irritate her enough to make her attack and be captured on camera.
However, Alix knew secrets that had thrown her off her game and made her forget her true reasons for stopping her.
Billi slammed the mirror into the chair and screamed angrily. She needed to talk to her mother tonight and they needed to find a way to shut Alix up. Also, they needed to know where she had got all of the information from. If there was a hole leaking information, it needed to be plugged.
Alix reached home earlier than Caishen as anticipated. Her great mood for the day had somehow been dampened by Billi. Her plans to buy Caishen an anniversary gift had even skipped her mind.
"System, how many points for a good anniversary gift? A laptop like the one I use for gaming for example. It comes with an AI assistant, greater storage space, greater battery." She scratched her head, kind of confused.
Her knowledge on electronics was not the best which is why she was still happy using her old phone. If it could be used to call, send texts and search the internet, it was good enough.
"No." The system said. "We are heading to the final battle on the second world. You cannot be wasting points like this."
"An old model. In your words, old technology from your interstellar world is greater than current technology in my world. Maybe not a laptop, something else."
She was having this conversation while taking off her clothes slowly in order to have a quick bath. Her phone was open and she was looking at ideas for a home date. Even though this was a haste anniversary, she had to put some effort into it.
There was a familiar ripple in the space above the bed and something was dumped down.
"Three hundred points." The system announced.
Alix winced and wondered if that was too cheap. It sounded cheap for sure.
She carefully opened the package. The system was now delivering packages in ordinary card board boxes, adopting earth style. Inside was a laptop, as requested but it was not assembled.
"He can assemble it himself, like a game. Isn't that amazing?" The system asked her.
It's voice was part mocking and part amused. Alix did not intend to indulge in whatever schemes it had come up with. It was a gift from a technologically superior world so Caishen would love it. If he didn't he would be intrigued still.
"Thank you. Now you can start working on that big gift for my sister. Since she wants mercy, we should mercifully inform the world about her true birthdate. It just so happens that tomorrow
is her birthday. That should keep her busy for a while."
Lately, Lin Billi had been in the news and all for the wrong reasons. She had been cancelling a lot of her public events thanks to the shit scandal. This would additionally keep her grounded for a while as well.
The rate at which Billi was going Alix felt like she did not even need to do much to send her over the edge. Soon, she would dig a pit for herself and fall inside on her own.
She took of her bra, threw it on the bed carelessly and took a deep sigh. "Ah, that feels so good."
The thought crossed her mind that only a fellow woman would understand what a prison a bra was. She took a few deeper breaths and got up.
Her clothes were abandoned on the floor and she went into the bathroom, humming a joyful tune.
Five minutes later, Caishen too showed up while Alix was still in the bathroom. He could hear the sound of running water and he knew where she was. When he moved his wheelchair towards the bed, he noticed the clothes on the ground and the black bra on the bed.

"Again." he said with a sigh. She was so consistent in where she abandoned these things everyday.
As usual, he collected them for her and dropped them in an empty laundry basket. He took off his coat, tie, shoes and socks.
When he looked he wiggled his toes and smiled. Movement was being restored, slowly by slowly. For now it was his toes but soon it would be his entire legs.
He had momentarily placed his phone down on the jewelry counter and it buzzed, drawing his attention from his feet.
He turned around and picked it up. There were about six texts and he read them one by one and responded to each in the order of reading.
Zhang Xian: [Son, have you made it home safely?]
Zhang Caishen: [Yes, you?]
The next text was from his brother.
Zhang Bo: [Come to your bedroom balcony, we have moved in.]
Zhang Caishen: [Who did you buy out?]
The next was from his mother Yura.
Mom: [How did your talk with your father go?]
Zhang Caishen: [Positive. He is coming home.]
Two messages were from Gu Biming, company business and the rest were in a group chat for him and his friends. He wheeled himself to the balcony and looked at the building next door. Zhang Bo was standing outside on his balcony and he started waving. The buildings were not overly close but you could still make out someone's image if you looked hard enough.
"Aah, that stubborn goat." Caishen whispered.
He could picture it already, his brother showing up to his place for dinner and forced work meetings or to complain about this and that.
"What are you doing there?" Alix's voice came from behind him.
When he turned around, he saw her in two towels, one that was short, barely coming half-way to her thighs and the other a smaller one on her head.
Caishen turned his head from his practically naked wife to the balcony opposite them.
