Chapter 461: A Warning.

Jahx stared through Sol’s fingers at the small smile on his face, bathing in regret and lamenting in every choice he had ever made in his life to end up meeting Sol, a regret made evident when he started feeling the fingers wrapped around his face tighten.

His vision blurred from the pain and try as he might the man’s hands seemed to stretch to their fullest lengths and still somehow not reach the person before him, the seconds felt like hours, agonising hellish and tormenting as the revelation of death crept slowly across his soul.

"Out there you would have lasted much longer, maybe even given me a good fight, but here, within my soul, inside of my Collective," Sol grinned while the man’s eyes bulged and his nose began bleeding after he revealed the long asked question.

"I hope you have a preference for what type of hell you’d prefer, because the hell in here is a lot worse than the one out there, I made sure of it." Sol’s smile grew even wider, casting a sinister glare across the room with his golden light before his enemy’s head exploded under the weight of his palm. "Not that it really matters, hell is hell."

"Master," Dina chirped before anyone else did just a second before Sol appeared at Ikaris’s side, unlike the pristine appearance he had left with, he returned with both his hands and one of his legs covered in blood, with splashes all across his torso and face; fresh and still dripping.

"By the light, what did you do to them?" Dr’ul asked surprised at his appearance, she had seen him in various types of conditions, but there was never a moment where the presence he gave off felt so cold to her, not even when he was a half demon.

"What had to be done," Sol answered the Goddess of War with a shrug, picking a piece of flesh from his hair and staring towards the screen again. "Did anyone else show up in my absence?" he asked to which Xie shook his head and crossed his arms.

"On the contrary, Sovereign, someone else was making their way towards us but halted dead in their tracks when the vanguard ship disappeared, the coward left as well." He explained dismayed.

"Sol," Ikaris rested her hand on his shoulder plate, flooding the surface of his armour with her mana and watching as the blood evaporated.

"It is probably unwise to present yourself like this before your followers they do not need to know the extent of-"

"I say let the bastards have it," Renia who had joined after Sol’s departure mumbled. "Bring total and complete chaos to them all." Without batting an eye or looking at anyone else she continued mumbling.

"A little blood never hurt a soul, they deserve much more for all they have done to the Vatui and our beloved ancestor," S’mael next to her mumbled as well whilst chewing on a snack. "Kill them flashily, with enough power to destroy a whole sector, more indeed, the more of a spectacle there is the more it will benefit me, destroy them and feed on that destruction, let them cower at the mere mention of your name..."

"The two of you be quiet this instant!" Dr’ul snapped at her siblings and then looked at Sol who had not finished saying his piece and remained silent amidst the murmurs and whispers.

"Are you sound?" Ikaris looked at him again and Sol nodded with a soft smile. "Then that is all that matters, so long as this does not take all that you are away from you I will not raise a word of protest, love, even if you were to become the thing you hate, so long as you remain, nothing else matters."

"Of course," Sol turned to the others and then to the screen again. "Well?"

"I am currently tracking the coward," Xie looked to the dash and swiped his hand bringing up a smaller projection of the escaping ship locked in a crosshair.

"Track the coordinates for the location they will be in the next few seconds," Sol spoke without glancing at anyone else. "Xie, leave the ship intact and on its way back, but spare none."

"As you wish," Xie huffed and closed his eyes, vanishing and then reappearing a few seconds later with a small blade in his hand dripping blood. "It is done, Sovereign."

"I understand all of your concerns, but let me remind you again of the weight of our situation; we are surrounded by monsters, be they good, evil or treading the grey, if they oppose us, they are an enemy." Sol slowly turned to everyone with his eyes blazing golden, with Ikaris, Dina and Xie standing behind him resting with similar glances to his own after the three of them came to the same realisation.

"If anyone who allies with me now chooses to oppose me, I will give you one chance to leave, and then never show yourself before me again; I am not above cutting ties with my friends."

"Good heavens," Dr’ul swallowed and rested her hand on her chestplate. "I assure you, Sol, I woule never- you are the sole reason any of us here are still alive, we would not-"

"I wouldn’t question your loyalty like that, Dr’ul, I am stating what is a fact that I intend to stand by, on one side I have friends and allies, family and followers, and on the other there are only enemies and liabilities."

"Well said," Xie sheathed his weapon after cleaning it and then looked at Alpha on the approach after disappearing moments before.

"Master, the ship has made contact with their base, there is a rapid response underway." She stood before Sol.

"Is it time we addressed the Nexus, to tell them that we mean no harm then?" Dina turned but reclined slightly shocked when Sol shook his head.

"We do mean harm." He stated matter-of-factly, "We are here to usurp their reigning Emperor and destroy the foundation of his rule leaving nothing but rubble and whispers in the alleyways and gutters. "If there is a message then let it be this.

"If you ally with Zan’el you are my enemy, if you associate with him in any way you are my enemy, I will destroy his House, his Empire and everything he stands for, but he is not my real target." Sol spoke while the System recorded and shared his message in real time.

"The real reason I came this far is the Avatar of darkness itself; Giza and a doppelganger of my likeness that calls himself Umbra; a being who has the potential to become another dark avatar unlike anything else in creation, they are beings that threaten the fabric of life and the foundation of existence itself and are actively seeking the power and means to destroy it all," He turned to the screen.

"Along the path here there are entire dead sectors, black spaces, voids that once rung with the light of billions of destroyed lives, tens of millions of outposts, everyone they cross paths with is killed by them drained of power and left in silence.

Soon they will spread this darkness to all the corners of the Grand Collective, they are here in the Nexus amongst you as I speak, seeking refuge in the Emporium in hiding from me; one of the only beings able to disrupt and ultimately foil their plans."

"I can always use more allies, but just know, because of who I afiliate with, you will also be making an enemy of the Emporium, and more terrifyingly Giza you can alwaysy validate my claims for yourself the information and evidence is out there for everyone to see."

"You are probably going to ask why I should be believed something I don’t care to answer, you may also ask why would the Emperor would allow them in his company, the answer there lies in the Dark One, she is a force beyond gods and devils an entity of prime, the first existence to gain consciousness, Zan’el could never hope to overpower her, if you then ask why she would flee from me, the answer is even more simple."

Sol raised his hand before him, conjuring a fragment of pure light from the divine tree and holding on to it until it became a solid object. "She isn’t simply running from me, she’s buying time, and the more time a being like her gets, the less we have."

"It doesn’t matter if either Giza or Umbra reach their ultimate goal first, whichever happens will be the death and erasure of us all, no alternate reality, no external dimension, no dimension of any kind will be able to protect us."

"There will be nothing and nobody left."

"I assure you, I am no such being, nor do I have any power of that scale," Giza chuckled, sipping from a daintily crafted glass chalice around a table with two other figures and Umbra at her side. "Sol Vestic is rather desperate, I stole something of his and he will do whatever it takes to retrieve it.

"What’s this nonsense?" Umbra lazily leaned his head staring at her. "Stop fooling around already," He scoffed, drowning out her amused laughter and looking at the man next to him who watched them both with blazing crimson eyes and a head of short white hair.

"I’m growing impatient with this, even if he’s the Emperor, it’s rude to have your guests waiting this long, at this rate I might just go looking," He grinned watching the man rest his hand on a sword at his side with a scowl.

"Umbra, do not provoke the Generals unnecessarily, Zan’el is already headed towards us, I assume after that broadcast he has become quite curious, considering Sol seeks his head as well-"

"Watch your tongue woman, it is treason to utter such words so be very careful of what comes from that deceitful hole in your face next," The Vatui man next to Umbra grunted. "Or face the cold of my blade and perish-"

"I only take such orders from my Lord, Second General," Giza’s eyes glossed over with black while she continued to smile.

"You are free to speak of me in my presence however much you wish, but do not provoke a reaction out of me by speaking to me directly you small creature, the next breath you draw might be your last."
