The Wolfless Luna's Revenge: Returning With His Secret Twins-Chapter 273
[ALPHA KILLIAN’s Point of View]
“Oh no, Killian—”
“It’s nothing,” I answered and still managed to give Sam a small smile just to not make her worry. “I have it handled, Sam. I am okay.”
But to tell you the truth, I was far from okay.
I stared into Sam’s worried face. I wanted to see how her fear and anxiety disappeared after we defeated the Shadow Wolf King. To my horror, all I could see were dark blots in my vision, like some ink was splattered on my eye, making everything blurry. I tried to focus on her eyes, but the more I pretended that nothing was happening to me, the worse it got.
As Sam turned her gaze away and moved to check on the twins that Dominic was carrying towards her. That’s when I turned my back and grimaced. My teeth were grinding as the pain intensified. I did my best not to groan or moan or make any noise that would make Samantha worry about me. No. I never wanted that. She had to focus on the kids, and I never wanted to burden her more with my dilemma.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Dominic staring at me. He didn’t say anything. He just stared, and it somehow irritated me that he wouldn’t keep his eyes away from me as he watched me suffer silently. I never wanted to think he was concerned. But that softness in his eyes only made my anger worse.
I had to go away before Samantha could notice. I had to get out of the place and go back to MoonStone as fast as I could.
“Killian!”
Fuck.
“Get out of my way, Rey. I have to get out of this godforsaken place!” I snarled at him, hoping Samantha hadn’t noticed that I moved from my spot to go to the stairs.
“I can tell the curse is still making you suffer, Killian,” Rey whispered. His eyes were steady as he looked at the agony etched on my face. “Why are you not telling this to Lady Samantha? You know that her blood can purify the curse from your body. Why do you have to suffer like this when there is a solution to heal it?”
“Get the f*ck out of my way, Rey!” I snarled at him quietly, giving him a warning look. “It’s none of your business! I don’t want Samantha to bleed for me! I don’t want her to hurt herself just to get rid of this f*cking curse!” 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
“I believe she wouldn’t mind if you would tell her about it—”
“I don’t need any of your advice, Rey. I will go back to MoonStone and find a way to bring it under control. I don’t want you telling me what to do!”
“You can’t change the fact that you are dying, MoonStone Alpha! There is no other way to cure this disease that is slowly deteriorating you.” There was concern in his voice and that anger that made me frown because I couldn’t understand why he was so perturbed with my situation when we barely knew each other. Heck, it hadn’t been a week since we met him in this forest!
“Just go away, Rey.” There was a hint of pleading in my voice because I couldn’t hold myself together any longer. I had to get away. But the old man just wouldn’t let me, and I was starting to lose patience.
“There could be other ways to get rid of this. For now, let’s just leave Samantha alone with her kids and her... and her husband.” I didn’t know why, but I almost choked on the word. I swallowed hard. “Let’s not give her another problem to worry about. I can handle this. I had been handling it for a long time now.”
Still, he refused to move.
“Look, Rey. This isn’t easy for me, you understand?! Yes, Samantha can cure this curse that is killing me. But it means her life will be in danger as well, because I would need a lot of blood to purify this g*dd*mn poison in me! And I can’t do that to Samantha! I would never let her risk her life for me!”
The veins started to pound in my head, and my vision turned red; I wanted to punch Rey straight in the face. My hands curled into a tight fist, ready to throw it heavily for a right hook when something felt wrong, and I got dizzy. All the color in my face drained, and my stomach tightened uncontrollably, together with the fast beating of my heart that I heard in my ears like a gong.
Blood spurted from my mouth as I gagged on it.
“KILLIAN!!!”
Ohh mother of—
I threw Rey a menacing look, hating him for not letting me out of the underground mausoleum while I had time. As I wiped the blood from my mouth, I saw Samantha running towards me with horror on her face as she saw how bright purple my blood was. She froze, confused and horrified at what she saw, finally knowing how severe my condition was.
“I’m okay, Samantha,” I panted as I spat the bitter blood from my mouth. “It’s nothing. Maybe I forced myself too much when we tried to stop the ritual. I should be fine in an hour or two.”
Samantha’s eyes sharpened as she marched toward me, and I swore to the Moon Goddess that I would kill Rey for doing this.
“No, you are not okay, Killian. Stop pretending you are not in agony because I can see it on your face.” she started scolding me as she examined my face, especially the color of my eyes. You are part of the family, and you know that. I just can’t let you go and suffer like this.”
As Samantha kept on looking for any more signs of the curse surfacing on my body, I saw Dominic glaring down at me with cold eyes. His face darkened as our eyes met in a glare, and I couldn’t help but smirk and taunt him more. Making him think that I enjoyed that jealousy plastered on his forehead as he watched Samantha tend to me.
“Mom? Is Uncle Killian alright?” Diana asked in her little voice, and my attention went to her.
“Yes, sweety. Uncle Killian just needs something to cure the curse that is still in him,” Samantha answered, but she wasn’t smiling at all. She looked at me straight in the eyes, and I knew at that moment that she knew what I needed to get rid of the curse in me.
And I didn’t like that determination I saw on her face.
“Mom! Dad! We all worked so hard. Maybe we should go take a break and go to a picnic?” Devon requested as he pouted to his Mom like he was begging for it.
Dominic puckered his lips to Samantha, and Diana asked him to carry her, and both of them gave her a pleading look and waited for her to answer.
Sam looked at me helplessly, and I smiled at her. “Yeah, you should take the kids out for a picnic, Sam. They all deserve it.”
Samantha sighed heavily but then smiled and looked over her shoulder to look at Dominic and her kids as she agreed, “Fine. We can all go to a picnic then.”
It hurts me to watch how joyful and amazing Samantha and her children were. Once upon a time, I was dreaming of a family like that with her. Once upon a time, I was dreaming she was mine. Wishing she was mine.
