Chapter 436 - 436: The Wolf Returns

[Chapter 436: The Wolf Returns]

In this era, America was still regarded by countless people as a shining beacon, the promised land of freedom, democracy, civilization, and wealth.

The moment Hawke spoke, everyone who had been through those battles together felt a surge of emotion. They might not have wives or kids, but they all had parents. They were former mercenaries now turned private security, working high-risk jobs.

Their bosses paid well, and if anything happened, their families were taken care of. What more could there be to say?

No one spoke, but everyone felt that this was honestly the most reliable job they'd ever had.

The warehouse meeting had just concluded. People hadn't left yet, and those who had used the funds to check their accounts started receiving bank notifications: $35,000 was credited.

Many eyes turned towards the parking lot outside the warehouse, waving at Hawke's car.

Hawke raised his hand to acknowledge and then accompanied Bosque and Andrei to visit two injured team members at Damakin Hospital.

The individual with minor injuries received anti-inflammatory and wound cleaning treatment. The one shot in the shoulder was scheduled for surgery shortly.

He definitely couldn't continue with private security work. Hawke wanted to set a good example for Hurricane Security Company and had specifically left Edward's contact. Once he recovered, if he wanted to work in Los Angeles, he could be assigned some lighter work at Butterfly Security.

Though virtual incentives were useful, financial rewards and relieving worries were even more effective.

...

After leaving the hospital, Hawke called Bosque and Andrei to his car and drove back.

Hawke said bluntly, "I'll return to Los Angeles tomorrow. You guys stay here in Ethiopia and arrange for more personnel to come over."

Andrei replied, "The two training groups at our Costa Rica base have finished. I'll send them all to Africa."

Bosque knew how to rally people: "Boss, the rewards have raised morale, but the team also wants to do one more thing -- to avenge our comrades."

"That's exactly what I want to do," Hawke said. On the way back from the national park to Damakin, he had discussed it with Erica. "There are three main targets now."

He laid them out one by one:

"First is General Amin, the tribal chief in South Sudan. All the attackers who harmed us came from his forces. Taking out an entire tribe is unrealistic, and I won't let you guys throw your lives away. Find a way to take out Amin."

Bosque was clear-headed: "Their tribal base is close to two UN peacekeeping camps. Unless we launch a massive airstrike or shell the area with artillery -- which is beyond a private security company's capacity."

In Africa, very few countries even had an air force; most planes were propeller-driven or early jets.

If a private security company tried such a thing, the attention of the world's "gang leader nations" would instantly fall on them.

Those were the five global powers, kind-hearted and diplomatically careful to speak nicely...

Hawke continued, "The buyer of General Amin is the Gurg. According to Mossad, Gurg frequently operates in Sudan. Find him, capture if possible; if not, eliminate him directly."

Bosque said, "Finding a guy like that isn't hard."

Hawke nodded slightly. "The last target is the commander of the Pakistani peacekeeping camp near the North-South ceasefire line in Sudan. If he's involved, try to send him to meet their Allah."

Bosque took note.

Hawke emphasized, "The first two are priorities; handle the Pakistani accordingly."

Hurricane Security Company was financially stable now. As long as they were willing to spend, getting information wasn't difficult.

Hawke pondered, "If they don't give up, might they strike from the air?"

Bosque said, "I have people watching the airport."

...

Hawke returned to the headquarters to pack.

Bosque and Andrei went back to Sahara Greening Company to get busy.

Andrei dispatched troops from Costa Rica, while Bosque found the team's only Arab member from last night, preparing to head to Sudan to seek information on the Gurg.

The north-south civil war in Sudan was closely tied to demographics. South Sudan was over 95% Black, while North Sudan was 70% Arab.

Their beliefs were entirely different, so any external provocations inevitably led to conflict.

...

The next morning, Hawke and Erica, along with others, went to the airport.

But instead of boarding the rented business jet, they took a special route and joined Jason and Flick, two UN officials, on the UN's private plane.

Hawke saw Leonardo again.

Leonardo sat across from him, cheeks drooping with age, smiling.

"I heard there was talk about you being ambushed on the plains the other night?"

The Ethiopian Rapid Response Unit had dispatched over a hundred Black soldiers; news spread everywhere.

Hawke heard the gossip and didn't mind but explained it differently: "Over 80 South Sudanese armed militants crossed into the national park trying to raid our camp. My security team wiped them out."
