Chapter 538: Chapter 314 Dragon Palace Magic contains special spirit energy beings and Death Plateau_1

Ivita stood on the highest land in her territory - the Gavar Heights. The grass on this highland was very short, and there were many rusty swords stuck into the lawn. Some of the swords had been corroded by water vapor to the point where they would shatter at the slightest touch.

Mr. Duva stood next to Wilson and the Iron Mountain Knight, explaining to Ivita, "Madam, this is the highest point in your territory on Cross Island. We have ascertained the Valji Family possesses two Viscount territories, five independent Baron territories, eight independent Knight’s territories, one wealthy inland town named Maple Town, and this territory, the Gavar Heights, similar in size to a Viscount’s territory. However, as this highland encompasses five small villages, we can treat it as a Viscount’s territory."

"As you know, pirate territories have been neglected for years, hence they’re poorer compared to the territories within normal kingdoms. Whether it is in terms of population, agricultural land area, the number of professionals or the armies, they simply cannot compare."

"And Madam, this is the famous Gavar Heights."

"This used to be one of the wealthier regions of Cross Island."

"Sixty years ago, when Marco Anson and his vicious forces first landed on the island, the Duke of Cross Island decided to fight them here in a battle to the death. Marco Anson used this highland to annihilate most of the Duke’s knights."

"Even with sixty years having passed, the weapons left behind by the knights who died in that battle are still wrapped up in resentment, hence, no one dares to remove them."

"The resentment and the tainted weapons have polluted the land here, transforming this area into a desolate wasteland that deters any visitors. However, from this highest point here, you can oversee your entire territory and the territories of your neighboring lords. Those lords now observe your every move."

"I gathered information last night and heard there’s a mysterious creature here. If bitten by it, the wound will fester, leading to a painful death without a cure. Hence, locals refer to this place as the Death Highlands. As such, this place is rarely tread by humans."

While Mr. Duva was speaking, Ivita had already activated her Spirit Vision, taking a closer look at the so-called Death Highlands.

After all, this was her property now.

She needed to know what creatures lurked around.

Through her wizard’s special vision, she saw that the spirituality of most areas of the highland was fairly normal, except where the rusty weapons were stuck. Those places were truly filled with negative energy.

She even saw some small negative spirit energy beings. They dwelled under the ground where the swords were implanted.

These negative spirit energy beings were similar to hermit crabs, only they were entirely rust red, like rusty iron. They moved slowly. After climbing out of their rusty shells, they slowly used their rust-red claws to clamp the ferric oxide that corroded off the rusty weapons in the ground, carried it into their mouths, and ate the rust.

Ivita looked at the Hearthstone Witch, who had also noticed these creatures. She said to Ivita, "Your Majesty, these are Rusty Parasitic Crabs. They are a spirit energy creature and are commonly seen in war-ravaged lands. They rely on rusty weapons to maintain the energy level in their bodies."

"If they injure you with their crab claws, the contaminated negative spirit energy will infect the wound, rendering it incapable of self-healing."

"Whole Body Fester."

"Therefore, witches call it the ’Rust Disease’."

"However, this is not an incurable disease. Rust Red Grass should grow near the Rust Hermit Crabs. Once you dry this grass and apply it on the wound, the disease can be cured."

Ivita nodded in understanding.

Mr.Duva’s eyes lit up, "I see. Speaking of which, madam, you also acquired the Thunder Sword. That is a treasure of my homeland."

Ivita pulled out the sword on her back and threw it to him. "This is the one, have a look."

Mr. Duva was taken aback by Ivita’s generosity. This was the blade once wielded by Ivan III of the Tevryl Duchy. He carefully held the Thunder Sword, "I... thank you, Your Highness. Considering that you saved me from the Ghost Ship before, and now you have come to replace the Valji Family’s status."

"May I pledge my allegiance to you?"

Ivita glanced at him, knowing that he was concerned about the Black Death and the fleet of the Belisarius Business Republic in the Black Sea. He felt that the world was disordered and was looking for a protector.

Ivita understood that if he could directly take over Duva’s business, it would be advantageous, but stepping too far would provoke avoidance.

Duva was a pirate quartermaster. He had his own business. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Things should progress step by step. Too much urgency would only result in pushing away the people who were initially willing to seek refuge.

Ivita said to him, "It wouldn’t really be pledging allegiance, but we can form an alliance."

"If you run into trouble in the future, feel free to find me."

Duva Gureggrevsky’s heart was filled with joy. "Thank you so much, Your Highness. But we would not dare bother you over trivial matters."

"Should you ever need anything, or if I can be of any assistance, do not hesitate to approach me. No need to repay the six hundred gold pounds you owe me, nor do you have to pay any costs for this inventory of the Valji Family’s properties."

"As it is my duty to organize an ally’s properties."
