The Winds of the New World-Chapter 50 - 47: The Fall of the Shadow
Chapter 50 - 47: The Fall of the Shadow
The ghostly glow in the creature's eyes flickered, its form wavering between the material world and the ethereal. Edmund felt the tension in the air, as if something immense were about to break. The monster recoiled, but not out of fear—it was preparing for its final attack.
The shadows around the chamber began to twist, converging toward the center of the room. The ground trembled, and a cutting gust of wind swept through, extinguishing torches and stirring dust from the forgotten corners of the ruin. The broken chains on the altar vibrated, as if a last remnant of the seal were trying to contain whatever lay before them.
The entity opened its enormous maw and let out a deep wail that reverberated through the ancient corridors, laden with despair and fury. The chamber itself seemed to resonate in response, as if the ruin were alive, reacting to the awakening of its prisoner.

Edmund tightened his grip around the hilt of his silver sword. He knew he could not hesitate. With a war cry, he charged forward.
Voss and Kieza followed closely behind, each attacking from a different side. The silver-coated blades sliced through the air, piercing the creature's skin and causing it to writhe in agony. Each strike emitted sparks and left a trail of crackling energy, as if the universe itself were rejecting the existence of that creature.
The creature roared again and lunged at Kieza, its spectral claws advancing like blades of shadow. The warrior tried to evade, but didn't escape entirely—one of the attacks tore into his shoulder, leaving a dark mark that burned like embers. He screamed in pain, falling to his knees.
"Kieza!" Voss rushed to protect him, raising his blade against the monster.
The entity rose even higher, its limbs elongating like dark tentacles. The ceiling of the chamber cracked, small stones falling around them. The darkness emanating from the creature seemed to absorb the light around it, making it difficult to distinguish its true features.
Edmund seized the distraction and lunged at the creature. He slid across the floor, dodging one of the tentacles that tried to grasp him, and with a swift twist, plunged his sword deep into the entity's torso.
The monster's scream tore through the air. Its form contorted violently, glowing cracks appearing all over its body. The shadows that had once dominated the place began to disperse, as if being sucked back into the monster itself.
"Now!" Edmund roared.
Voss and Kieza, ignoring the pain, drove their blades into the creature simultaneously. The final impact generated an explosion of silver light, illuminating the chamber like the sun at noon. The monster trembled, its form collapsing like shattered glass, until it finally dissolved into dark dust.
Silence filled the hall. The only remnants of the entity were a black scar on the ground and a strange golden medallion, pulsing faintly.
Edmund approached cautiously, sensing the latent presence of something powerful within the artifact. He picked it up carefully, feeling its weight in his hands. The medallion was warm, as if it still held remnants of the creature's energy. Something told him that this battle was just the beginning of something much greater.
"We did it..." Kieza murmured, breathless.
"Yes, but at what cost?" Voss pointed to the darkened corridors of the ruin. "If this thing was sealed here... what else might be hidden on these islands?"
Edmund tucked the medallion into his tunic and looked at his companions. They needed to recover, but they also needed answers.
And he knew that this island still held many secrets.
