The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 42: The Feeling of Home
Quinn Morgan listened to Mia’s words, her complexion improved a lot, but she was still simmering with unresolved anger.
She said with a cold face, "If only she could be as sensible as you, I wouldn’t always be so angry. She doesn’t measure up to even half of you - just looking at her makes me mad."
Mia felt smug, thinking to herself: Of course, how could that ugly creature compare to me? If she weren’t the leader’s child, I wouldn’t even glance at her.
Though full of disdain, she didn’t show it on her face, instead advising, "Matron, don’t get upset—it’s not good for your health. Your sister has become more diligent, not only awakening her special abilities but also making delicious food. I heard that the pig intestines she made today smell amazing, the whole tribe can smell it. Maybe she’ll bring some over for you later, so don’t show her your anger, or she’ll be unhappy again."
She said this deliberately, wanting to test whether Luna Sutton would really bring food to Quinn Morgan.
Quinn’s face looked even more unpleasant, having just been caught sneaking food and quarreled. How could that unfilial girl possibly bring food?
But in front of Mia, she didn’t want to lose face, so she simply murmured, "Hmm, I know."
Mia’s eyes flashed as she seized the opportunity to say, "Then Matron, when your sister brings you delicious food later, could you spare me a bit? I want to try it too."
She swallowed greedily, looking like she was salivating.
She really was craving it, as the fragrance had been wafting all afternoon, making her mouth water.
Quinn looked at her and, unable to refuse, reluctantly agreed, "Fine, when she brings it over, Matron will share half with you."
She couldn’t help but wonder internally: Will Luna really bring food over?
Why does she feel it’s impossible?
They talked a little more before parting ways.
No one noticed that a white wolf was hiding in the shadows, eavesdropping.
It was Wolf One, sent by Lyle Sutton to investigate.
Wolf One’s eyes flashed with an unknown thought and quickly disappeared.
...
Meanwhile, Luna Sutton returned to the cave and took out the beast skins from her basket to organize.
These were premium furs, soft, comfortable, and warm, perfect for making clothes or blankets.
They had also been treated and well-preserved, ready for use.
Feeling happy, she planned to pick out a few suitable pelts, stitch them together with Fish Intestine Thread to make a blanket, so she wouldn’t be cold at night.
She would also make herself two sets of suitable beast skin outfits.
Having lost weight, her waist felt loose in her previous Beast Skin Skirt, which was no longer fitting, so she needed a new one.
Crafting the Beast Skin Skirt could wait, but the blanket needed to be done urgently.
This way, it could cover her at night.
Luna was a doer, so she took action.
The cave didn’t have a Bone Needle or Fish Intestine Thread, so she went to borrow them from Saffron Vance.
Fortunately, Saffron didn’t refuse, and readily gave her the Bone Needle and Fish Intestine Thread, even asking about the intestine preparations and the cooking method.
Naturally, she didn’t refuse and explained the handling method and preparation steps to Saffron, letting her try it herself and ask if there were any questions.
She then returned to the cave with the Bone Needle and Fish Intestine Thread to begin making the blanket.
She selected a few pieces that were similar in color and thickness and felt soft and cozy.
Then, she used the Bone Needle and Fish Intestine Thread to stitch them together.
Once patched, she began sewing the hides together with the finest stitches.
She planned to make it double-sided, fluffy on both sides, for a comfortable touch.
These pelts were already quite thick, and when layered, they became thicker, requiring great force for the Bone Needle and Fish Intestine Thread to penetrate.
Fortunately, Luna wasn’t in a rush, so she patiently stitched it, thread by thread.
The blanket didn’t need to be very large, just 1.5 by 2 meters.
She planned to make two, one to lay down, one to cover.
However, the one laid down needn’t be double-sided, just single.
Even so, a lot of beast skins were needed.
Fortunately, they had collected plenty of skins from Lyle Sutton today; otherwise, it might not be enough.
She sat on the stone bed, patiently making the blanket.
Occasionally, she would walk to the cave entrance to add wood to the stove, to prevent the fire from going out unattended.
Then she would return to continue making the blanket.
The blanket didn’t need very fine stitches, so it was completed quickly.
By the time she finished, it was already dusk outside.
Luna placed the finished blanket to the side, planning to spread it on the stone bed later.
She got up and walked to the cave entrance, looking at the pot of bone mushroom soup simmering on the rock stove.
Finding the timing perfect, the bone soup was stewed to a milky whiteness, exuding a rich fragrance, with the mushroom’s aroma perfectly infused, it smelled delightful.
She scooped a bit with a spoon and tasted it; the flavor was fresh, with just the right saltiness, very nice.
She felt satisfied and reduced the fire power, letting the soup simmer slowly.
Before long, Rhys Blackwood and the others returned.
They brought back four wooden pillars of uniform height and thickness, both ends smooth and polished.
The wood’s natural texture was preserved, appearing rugged and natural.
Additionally, there was a large stone slab.
It was similarly polished, square-shaped, with each corner on the back carved out, forming four shallow grooves.
Luna realized immediately it was a tabletop, and those four pillars were likely meant as legs.
Installed and ready for use.
Though not overly stable, it could hold simple items as long as it wasn’t pushed hard.
Besides that, there were four chairs carved from wood, with hollowed bottoms, four legs, and backs for support.
The craftsmanship was quite smooth; despite the simple design, it looked rather decent.
In a world like this with no tools, relying solely on claws, achieving this was truly impressive.
The trio also brought back game—a reindeer—with no visible wounds but marks around the neck.
She knew it was Rhys’s handiwork.
Rhys put the items down and dragged the reindeer to the river for processing.
Malachi Arcanus and Zeke Veridian didn’t idle either.
They inserted the four wooden pillars into the slab’s grooves and stably placed it in the center of the cave, forming a simple table.
The four chairs were placed at corresponding positions.
In an instant, the cave gained a hint of homeliness, no longer so primitively rough.
Luna felt elated, feeling, for the first time in this world, a sense of "home."
She glanced toward Zeke and Malachi, smiling, "Not bad craftsmanship. I thought you’d bring back something unrecognizable."
Zeke let out a light snort, a touch of disdain in his eyes and brows, "Unrecognizable? You think we’re as clumsy as you? If we couldn’t handle something this simple, wouldn’t we be a laughing stock?"
Malachi simply walked aside, as if he hadn’t heard Luna’s praise.
To him, such praise was trivial.
He preferred proving his abilities through actions rather than relying on verbal commendations.
Luna looked at Zeke, who wore a disdainful expression, and pouted. This sharp-tongued man never wasted a moment to jab at her.
She wasn’t annoyed, though, and chuckled, "Zeke, since you’re so capable, next time I’ll have you make something more complicated to see if you can handle it."
Zeke snorted and turned away, no longer speaking.
Don’t think he didn’t know what this chubby woman was planning.
Making these items today had worn down his claws quite a bit, and he felt very sorry for them.
He wondered if this would impact hunting tomorrow.
If it weren’t for Luna’s food, he wouldn’t have bothered with such things.
