The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 275 - 237: Hostility (2)
The black one is still growling in a soft, adorable way.
The little white creature keeps tugging at her skirt, seemingly unsure of what to do.
Luna Sutton glanced down at her bleeding calf, her expression extremely complex: "It’s true, you reap what you sow... They... this is their resentment toward me."
The three wolf pups have never tasted a drop of their matron’s milk since birth.
They were even kicked aside once when they wanted milk, and haven’t been raised by her side, so it’s natural they resent and don’t want to be close to her.
Zeke Veridian walked over with a complex expression, glanced at her bleeding calf, squatted down, tore off a piece of animal hide to bandage her, and comforted, "The pups are just unfamiliar, don’t overthink it, Luna."
She looked at Zeke, feeling somewhat sad, but she didn’t blame the three wolf pups.
She stepped forward to Corbin Crowley, looking at the three cute yet fierce little wolf pups in his arms, and attempted to touch them: "Don’t be afraid, I am your matron, I won’t harm you."
Her voice was very gentle and soft.
The three little wolf pups all avoided her hand, watching her with wary eyes.
Even though she felt a bit uncomfortable, she wouldn’t really hold it against her pups, and continued gently, "It’s my fault, I shouldn’t have kicked you, and I didn’t mean to. Will you forgive your matron?"
The three little wolf pups seemed to understand her words, their wet eyes flashed with hesitation.
Perhaps still angry at heart, they suddenly turned away, presenting their backs to her.
Seeing this, Malachi Arcanus couldn’t help but laugh out loud: "Oh... these three pups have quite the temper, just like Corbin."
Corbin gave him a cold look, "Nobody will think you’re mute if you shut up."
Then he turned his gaze to Luna Sutton, his expression complex: "Luna, they are still small and not sensible, spend more time with them, it will get better with time..."
"I know, it’s my fault as a matron, not theirs..."
Her gaze met Corbin’s, speaking with some sadness in her eyes.
Several times she wanted to reach out to touch the three wolf pups, but remembering how they resisted her, she held back.
Rhys Blackwood suddenly approached, taking the most rebellious silver wolf pup from Corbin’s arms.
The silver wolf pup suddenly sneezed, spraying bits of ice shards, landing right on the back of Rhys’s hand.
"Is this... an ice ability?"
Rhys was surprised.
Corbin was also a little surprised, the talent awakening earlier than even his, filled with pride on his face.
But the thought of the little wolf’s hostility toward Luna made his head ache again.
The silver wolf pup was very well-behaved in Rhys’s hands, even licking his fingers in a friendly manner.
Seeing this, everyone was taken aback.
Rhys had never cared for these three wolf pups, nor had he been close to them, yet they were so compliant in his hands.
Now, even if they wanted to excuse the three wolf pups by saying they were insensitive to their surroundings, it felt hard to justify.
They purely sensed the smell from Luna Sutton, knowing she was their matron, yet had a grudge in their hearts.
Luna felt a prick in her heart.
She looked at the silver wolf pup in Rhys’s arms, who was now cozily curled in those distinct hands, with no trace of its former fierceness.
"What about the eight snake hatchlings?"
She no longer looked at the three wolf pups, her eyes scanning around, unable to help but ask.
Rhys’s eyes moved slightly: "Maybe they snuck out to play."
The words had barely fallen.
A loud voice suddenly came from a distance.
"What’s all the commotion? Are the pups raiding the witch doctor’s herbs again... Luna?"
Hearing the familiar voice, Luna instantly looked over to see Lyle Sutton walking out from the distant woods.
His gray hair was sprinkled with a few dry leaves, holding a jade-green little Aethel Serpent in his hand.
The little Aethel Serpent was wriggling desperately, craning its neck toward Rhys.
"Father..."
She started speaking, but her throat choked up.
The green snake in Lyle’s hand darted out, accurately coiling around Rhys’s wrist.
Seeing Rhys holding the silver wolf pup, it suddenly flicked its tail over.
The silver wolf pup "howled" in response, baring its teeth at the little jade Aethel Serpent, ice shards shooting from between its eyebrows in retaliation.
Rhys twitched his lips, quickly shoving the silver wolf pup back into Corbin’s arms.
Behind Lyle, seven colorful little snakes slithered through the grass, the crimson one coiling around Rhys’s left arm, the snow-white one wrapping around his shoulder, the black one crawling up his trousers...
The golden and purple Aethel Serpents climbed up Luna Sutton’s trouser leg and onto her shoulder, rubbing their little heads affectionately against her.
Clearly sensing their matron’s presence.
She was momentarily stunned, then smiled happily, gently caressing their small, rod-like bodies.
Finally, some of the little ones wanted to be close to her, filling her heart with joy. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
The earlier disappointment and sadness instantly vanished.
"Have all eight of them hatched?"
Rhys’s usually stern face rarely showed a smile, feeling relieved inside.
Luckily, the little ones didn’t reject Luna, or else he wouldn’t know what to do.
Lyle Sutton hurried over in a few strides, his rough hands cradling Luna Sutton’s face: "Is this really my Luna? Your face... has it recovered?"
"Father, I’m better now."
She held Lyle’s hand to her face, "Did you know, Father? It turns out I wasn’t born ugly, it was a curse from the Great Shaman of the Dragon Clan, and Mael Valerius used Heart Blood to break the curse for me, and even killed that shaman for me."
Lyle was momentarily stunned, "Mael Valerius? Who is that?"
"He’s the Young Dragon I saved when I was five, I thought he was a little snake back then, never thought he was a dragon. He’s the one who took me to Aetheria."
Luna explained with a smile.
Lyle immediately recognized it as The Mad Dragon, his expression complex, "So it was him... I just never thought he would be willing to use Heart Blood to break the curse for you."
He no longer kept holding Luna Sutton’s face and withdrew his hand, his excitement from before subsided.
"The Heart Blood of The Dragon Clan?"
The Priest appeared somehow, walking over while leaning on a cane: "So that’s why... No wonder the old witch doctor couldn’t cure it no matter what. I even divined it once for you, saw something, but dared not confirm or act rashly."
He appeared regretful as he spoke.
Lyle touched Luna Sutton’s head tenderly, his old eyes turning red with emotion: "Let’s talk inside, let Father have a good look at you."
Inside the stone house, eight snake hatchlings wound around Rhys’s body in a tangle, the smallest crimson snake even trying to slither into his collar.
Rhys coldly lifted the little creature, only for it to bite his finger instead.
"Ha... quite feisty, aren’t you?"
Rhys raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised yet not angered.
Luna laughed, reaching out to take the Little Crimson Snake: "It does resemble you, just as fierce."
The Little Crimson Snake coiled up in her palm, affectionately rubbing against her fingertips.
