The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 274 - 237: Hostility
Malachi Arcanus saw Maya Miller trembling with fear, disdain curled at his mouth. He sneered and tossed her aside casually.
Maya fell to the ground instantly, her face pale. She was too angry to speak, her face full of shame and fury as she ran away.
Hiding among the crowd, Wolf Fang wanted to speak up for Maya several times but, noticing the power of Corbin Crowley, Rhys Blackwood, Zeke Veridian, and Malachi Arcanus, stood frozen in fear.
Eighth Rank?
My God, they’re all Eighth Rank, even Malachi Arcanus is at the Seventh Rank Peak.
What on earth happened outside? Did they all consume Immortal Pills?
Wolf Fang was filled with envy.
He had no mind to care for Maya Miller.
Just as he was about to step forward to speak, Luna Sutton had already led a few Beast Husbands away.
Feeling awkward, he retreated.
Meanwhile, Luna Sutton hurried across the Tribal Square, anxiously heading toward Lyle Sutton’s stone house, the soil beneath her feet painted golden by the sunset.
She merely nodded and smiled at passing tribespeople, not saying much, nor did she care about their murmurs.
In the distance, the sound of young cubs playing and laughing came, the air carrying the aroma of stewed meat.
Her heartbeat quickened, nearly bursting from her chest.
"Slow down, be careful not to trip."
Corbin Crowley reached out to steady her staggering steps, his silver eyes reflecting the evening glow, "No need to rush."
Rhys Blackwood followed silently behind, muscles taut beneath his black snakeskin clothes.
His mind full of questions: had the eight snake eggs hatched yet? What were their qualities like?
Zeke Veridian and Malachi Arcanus walked at the rear; both remained silent, understanding each other well.
As they rounded the Priest’s stone house, Luna Sutton suddenly halted.
Three furry wolf pups were rolling on the open ground.
The silver one was chasing its own tail in circles.
The pitch-black little one was gnawing on a bone.
The snow-white one lay on its back, soaking up the sun with its four paws to the sky.
"Is that..."
Luna Sutton’s eyes instantly grew moist, her throat suddenly dry.
She stood there, her legs feeling as heavy as if filled with lead.
The silver one stopped circling, its little nose twitching as it sniffed in her direction.
The black little one abandoned the bone, alertly pricking up its ears.
The white wolf cub turned over, cocking its head to look her way.
"They’ve grown so much..."
She spoke softly, her fingers tightening unconsciously.
Wanting to go closer and hold them, yet afraid they would reject her.
Corbin Crowley stood behind her, his silver eyes full of complexity, "They’re very healthy; the leader has cared for them well."
He stepped forward, crouched down, extending his large hand for the pups to sniff.
Then he picked each of them up.
The three wolf pups instantly recognized the scent of their father, lovingly licking his hand, showing great affection.
As for Luna Sutton, the pups had little reaction to her, finding her rather unfamiliar.
Rhys Blackwood glanced past the cubs toward the distant stone house, "The snake eggs should have hatched too."
With those words, he stepped into the stone house, wanting to see if the snake eggs had hatched, only to find nothing after searching around.
The snake egg nest was there, but it was empty.
He paused in surprise, immediately realizing that they all had hatched, perhaps off playing somewhere now.
Amused and at a loss, he was about to search for them.
Suddenly, the silver wolf pup let out a "howl" and, bolting out from Corbin Crowley’s arms, dashed wildly toward Luna Sutton.
Luna Sutton was overjoyed, opening her arms, bending down to embrace them.
The other two quickly followed, and the three fluffy balls stumbled around, pouncing at her feet.
"Watch out!"
Zeke Veridian suddenly called out.
Luna Sutton hadn’t reacted yet, the silver wolf had already bitten into her fur boots.
The black one leapt onto her leg, its sharp baby teeth piercing her skin.
The white little one was the fiercest, baring its teeth with a warning growl.
The sudden scene shocked everyone present.
"Hiss..."
Luna Sutton gasped in pain, instinctively trying to shake them off.
Corbin Crowley was stunned, never expecting his cubs to suddenly attack Luna.
His face darkened, he commanded sternly, "Stop! She is your Matron!"
But the three wolf pups seemed not to hear, continued to circle her, baring teeth and barking.
"I told you to let go, didn’t you hear?"
Corbin Crowley walked over, face calm, crouched down, and scooped up the three cubs, "Remember, she is your Matron. Dare to do this again, and I’ll skin you."
The cold voice carried an edge of danger.
The silver wolf wriggled in Corbin Crowley’s hand, unfazed by its father’s threat, baring its teeth at Luna Sutton instead.
