The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 181 - 177: Ghost Cry Vine
The team continued to advance, and Luna Sutton quietly followed behind.
Calculating in her mind how to discreetly use "Vine Cage" to bind Nolan Sterling.
Taking down the leader first, right?
"System, what rank is Nolan’s power?"
She sat atop Jago with her invisibility cloak, internally asking the system.
"Nolan is mid-stage Sixth Rank, and there’s also a Seventh Rank Old Ironclad Rhino Beastman."
The system voice sounded somewhat gleeful towards the end, "Host, your Fourth-tier Superpower might find it a bit challenging to bind Nolan."
Luna Sutton rolled her eyes, "Don’t underestimate me, how would you know without trying? Besides, I have my own clever tactics."
While covertly following the team, she was calculating: Nolan is mid-stage Sixth Rank, directly confronting him certainly won’t work, it’s going to require intelligence.
The system timely interjected, "Host, friendly reminder, Nolan has a fatal weakness—he’s a neat freak. You could throw mud at him."
"Mud?"
She twitched her mouth, "Did I come to the beast world just to play with mud?"
Though she spoke thus, she was internally considering the feasibility of such an approach.
It doesn’t matter if it’s dirty or not, as long as it disgusts Nolan.
Mud is nothing, should Jago urinate on his face, it would certainly gross Nolan out.
Jago’s bumpy ride made her dizzy and nauseous, but she endured it for The Wolf Tribe.
"System, protect my belly, don’t let the jostling cause a miscarriage."
She touched her belly, talking again internally with the system.
"Alright, I’ve become your on-call nanny."
The system lazily responded, but then emitted green light to safeguard her belly.
...
At Cragfall, by the Umbraflow river, night winds blew.
Corbin Crowley swept his silver gaze across the riverbanks, tapping lightly thrice on the rock wall with his fingers, "Rhys, cleaned up the poisoned fish and shrimp?"
Rhys Blackwood was using his snake tail to coil up the last flipped poisoned fish, sneering upon hearing, "You think I’m like Zeke Veridian, too lazy to even deal with prey?"
Saying so, he flung the poisoned fish into a prepared stone pit, blue poison seeping through scale crevices.
Zeke Veridian was crouched by the riverbank, whittling wooden arrows, his emerald eyes flashing coldly, "The Black Serpent, your tail scar healed?" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Suddenly, half a Ghost Cry Vine sprang from his fingertips.
Rhys Blackwood’s snake tail instantly straightened, a mark left from years back when Zeke ambushed him.
"Snicker!"
Kian Sterling’s fox tail wound around Rhys’s wrist, separating them in time, "My Luna hates internal strife the most."
Nine tails fanned out under moonlight, "Save up energy to deal with my brother’s fools."
Malachi Arcanus suddenly dangled down from a tree branch, casually tossing a wild fruit core between the three.
About to speak, his wolf ears suddenly perked up, "They’re coming."
From the distant sky came the faint sound of wings cutting through air.
Corbin Crowley’s ears twitched, indeed there was movement, his silver eyes suddenly constricted.
His arm instantly transformed into wolf claws, etching deep into the rock wall.
He looked at a particular spot, voice chilling, "Finn, ready the poison mist."
"Alright!"
Finn Arcanus emerged from the shadows, responding quietly.
He instantly transformed into his true form, the Dark-wind Swiftwolf, light flashing.
A sudden gust whipped up over the Umbraflow, poison mist rising like smoke and quickly spreading.
Kian Sterling laughed lightly, "Finn’s wind element power, truly handy."
Rhys Blackwood coldly added, "Too much inhalation of the poison mist will cause their insides to rot."
Zeke Veridian raised an eyebrow, "What about us?"
Rhys Blackwood glanced at him, "Chew the herbs I gave, won’t be poisoned."
Malachi Arcanus laughed louder, "Then let’s let them enjoy it thoroughly!"
In the distance, Nolan Sterling’s team was approaching grandly.
Leading the charge, the Eagle Beastman suddenly frowned, pausing his wings slightly, his nostrils twitching.
Something was off, there was a strange smell in the air.
Realizing something, his face instantly changed.
"Everyone, cover your mouth and nose!"
He shouted out only to have his mouth filled with poison mist.
Behind him, the Winged Tiger Beastman sneezed while pulling out a beast skin, "Your Highness, there’s something wrong with this wind!"
"Damn it!"
Nolan Sterling’s face was dark, his eyes flashing with ruthlessness.
He quickly ordered, "Everyone, immediately land and avoid the poison mist!"
The team instantly fell into chaos, the poison mist spread rapidly by the wind, enveloping Cragfall and the Umbraflow sky.
The lead Eagle Beastman suddenly rolled his eyes, falling straight down from a hundred meters.
Immediately, a Winged Tiger fell from the sky with a crashing sound.
It created a deep crater upon hitting the ground.
In Nolan Sterling’s team, the weaker Fifth-rank Beastmen began showing symptoms of poisoning, foaming at the mouth and convulsing on the ground.
"Your Highness, we’ve fallen into a trap!"
The Old Ironclad Rhino approached Nolan, his expression grim as he warned him.
His skin was as hard as iron, so the poisonous mist affected him less, yet even so, he felt dizzy.
Nolan coldly glanced around, the predatory look in his eyes intensifying, as he sneered, "Kian Sterling, do you think this is enough to stop me?"
He quickly ordered, "Everyone cover your mouths and noses, and make your way down the cliff from the sides."
Little did they know, the river below awaited them.
The group split into two paths, making their way down to the bottom of the cliff.
Meanwhile, the Wolf Tribe led by Lyle Sutton happened to arrive just in time.
From afar, they saw Nolan’s team in chaos.
"Leader, look over there!"
A Wolf Beastman pointed towards Nolan’s team and whispered.
Lyle squinted his eyes, thinking to himself: It seems not only is Umbraflow water poisonous, but the air itself is tainted.
He turned to the Priest and witch doctor beside him and said, "That Rhys Blackwood, he really did not disappoint us."
He instantly recognized Rhys Blackwood’s poison.
The witch doctor quickly took out some herbs from the Beast Skin Bag and handed them to Lyle, "Leader, this is antidote grass, chew it to temporarily resist the poisonous mist."
Lyle took the herbs and swiftly distributed them to his trusted subordinates and the elders, "Everyone chew and swallow it, don’t let the enemies die first, we don’t want to fall prey ourselves."
The Priest, riding on the back of a wolf, softly cautioned, "Everyone be careful, Nolan’s men are already poisoned, we should not approach recklessly. Stay hidden in the shadows and wait for the right moment to act."
Meanwhile, Nolan’s team had already made their way from the top of the cliff to the bottom.
Unbeknownst to them, Umbraflow river was lined with an array of traps waiting.
"Your Highness, there’s a river here, if we want to cross, we might need to swim."
The Seventh-rank Old Ironclad Rhino approached Nolan, frowning as he whispered.
Nolan lowered his gaze, fixing on the surging river before him, his fox tail restlessly smashing the rocks on the shore, "Test the water with your Rhino Horn."
"Yes, Your Highness."
The Old Ironclad Rhino dipped his horn into the river, and the surface began to bubble with eerie green foam.
He pulled out his horn with a sneer, "The Wolf cubs’ venom can’t harm my iron armor..."
Before he could finish his sentence, he staggered a few steps, noticing that the tip of his horn began to peel away layer by layer.
Just then, one of the Winged Tiger Beastmen landed, not noticing what was underfoot, and stepped onto the Ghost Cry Vine.
"Hahahahaha!"
The Winged Tiger suddenly burst into laughter, flailing his arms as he tore at his wings, "My feathers can sing!"
Soon after, two more Fifth-rank Beastmen rolled on the ground laughing hysterically, then plunged into the river, "It’s so hot, hahaha..."
The poisonous liquid swirling in the river entwined around their bodies like a living thing, emitting a sizzling corrosive sound.
Their skin decayed at a visible rate, their screams resonating eerily in the pitch-black night.
Nolan’s face turned as dark as ink, a violent glint in his eyes, "Everyone, stay away from the river!"
As soon as he spoke, he realized something was off with himself.
He felt a wave of dizziness and the scene before him began to distort, strange laughter echoing in his ears.
He shook his head abruptly, trying to clear his mind.
"Hahaha..."
He let out a wild laugh, though he wanted to cry inside.
He genuinely didn’t want to laugh at all!
Yet the more he tried to hold it in, the more he wanted to laugh.
Many Beastmen had stepped on the Ghost Cry Vine, causing the scene to spiral out of control.
"Hahaha..."
Nolan tore at his robe as he stumbled backward, fear rarely seen in his beautiful foxy eyes.
Trying desperately to get away from that eerie river.
The effects of the Ghost Cry Vine were evidently not limited to this.
His laughter grew more frenzied.
He even began to dance, as if suddenly going mad, losing all his usual nobility and dignity.
"Hahaha... I am the First Prince of The Royal City! Who dares to laugh at me!"
Nolan laughed wildly while trying to control his actions desperately.
It’s really embarrassing.
The more he tried to control it, the harder he laughed, to the point his tears came out.
The Old Ironclad Rhino beside him saw this, his face turning livid, fighting the dizziness in his head, he rushed forward to grab Nolan’s arm, "Your Highness, get a grip, this is the Ghost Cry Vine, it’s poisonous."
"Hahaha... I know it’s poisonous, but I can’t help it, hahaha..."
Nolan laughed to the point of tears, not knowing if he was laughing or crying.
He slapped away the Old Beastman’s hand, pointing at his nose, "You old Rhino, how did you grow two faces? Hahaha..."
