"I’m pretty sure I have seen your hair above your shoulder even last night. How come it now touches your ankles?" I asked.
I was pretty sure I paid a lot of attention when it came to her. There was no way I would mistake the length of her hair. Even the people who did not pay much attention to her would notice, although I doubted there was someone like that. She had always been a matter of interest. At first, people wanted to know her more because she was the only human in this world as they did not know about Cyan.
And now, she was a dark mage as well. Of course, they would look her way all the time.
"Doesn’t my braid look good? I am planning to keep my hair long for a while," she smiled.
King Demetrius made a ridiculous face. It was clear he was absolutely horrified at the idea of her keeping her hair that long. I could understand his concern. The days were very hot. But then again, with her power, Blue would find a way to keep herself cold. She still had not got a full grasp of what her power could do and what it could not.
What her power could not do would be a small list. But Blue thought otherwise. She had told me once that her power could not do a very vital thing that other dark mages could do.
"Did something happen? Blue, if something wrong happens when you are in my care, it is my business. So, I think it will be good if you tell me. I would very much appreciate it," I said.
She glanced at her husband and stroked her son’s cheek who was in his arms. "Last night, I saw… I don’t know what to call it. You know, I can look through Cyan’s eyes and experience whatever he is experiencing."
"Yes, you told me about it. It happens when you sleep, right?"
"Yes. That happened last night. I saw that he was in danger. So, I teleported to where he was. He was attacked by five mages and one of them is Lloyd."
"Lloyd?"
"Lloyd is Azure’s most trusted servant or whatever his position is, I don’t care," she said.
King Demetrius fisted his hands and took a few deep breaths. This Lloyd might have done something that was not supposed to be done. After seeing his reaction, I was dying to know as well. Did that dark mage hurt Blue in some way? Did he do something to her?
"Lloyd is a quite powerful dark mage. He was there to take Cyan back to Azure. If Cyan was taken to Azure, he would be tortured. Cyan might not be the best brother in the world, but he is the best brother I ever had," she said.
Blue had two more half brothers; Draven and Maxen. She had told me about her previous family. Draven had abused her a lot and although Maxen never abused her and loved her, Blue always said Maxen never dared to free her from that household when he could. If he could, she believed, she would not have had to face those things for all those years. Maxen had been a coward, although a brother who loved.
While her twin brother Cyan might not love her as much as Maxen did, he cared for her enough to dare to escape the most powerful dark mage ever. He was brave and also stayed by her side during the war and tried to create an antidote for King Demetrius.
’Love is not as great as it sounds when you fail to protect the one you love.’
"I needed to help him. That’s why I went there," she said and gave King Demetrius’s hand a squeeze. It seemed like they had fought last night about it. Knowing King Demetrius, it was a valid thing to happen.
"Is he dead? Lloyd?" I asked and she gave a nod. "What about the other dark mages?"
"Dead. Cyan killed them," she said.
"And you killed Lloyd?"
"… I poisoned him enough so he would die slowly. But Dem… It was unnecessary, but he tortured him more," she said.
"It was not unnecessary," King Demetrius said, controlling his tone so he would not sound harsh. He was trying to control himself.
"If he hurt you, then it definitely was not unnecessary," I said.
"He did hurt me, but…," she mumbled. "Well, he was the one who put this mark on my back. But then again, if you think that way, even Cyan is to blame. He was the one who held me down."
"He at least helped you escape and had been there for you," King Demetrius said. "Yes, he hurt you and I cannot forgive him. But I won’t punish him or anything because he helped you come back to me. But that shithead even tried to force himself on you. He hit you as well. If you say he doesn’t deserve hell even now…"
I stared at her. I had not known all these things. That bastard even tried to force himself on her? And he hit her? Why would she say he was being punished enough? No punishment would be enough for a bastard like that!
"Anyway, I am fine and Cyan is fine. Dem is fine and even Dion is okay."
"Dion was there too?" I asked. "Why would you take Dion there?"
"Dem took him there," Blue replied.
"If I had not, you would not have listened to me," King Demetrius said and Blue rolled her eyes at him.
"Whatever. We all are fine and that’s all matters."
It was not the right thing to take a child in the middle of a fight. But then again, I could never make a man like King Demetrius understand that. He would do whatever he thought. And there was one more reason I should not say anything about it; King Demetrius truly loved and cared for his son and I was pretty sure he would do anything to protect him.
Even if he took him there, he would never let any harm come his son’s way.
