The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 96: Apple
Princess Eleanor looked at the man who was applying something to her leg.
"Is it getting better?" Princess Eleanor asked as she bit her lips.
"The mark will need time to go away. But I wanted to know if you are feeling better. Does the Princess feel better?" The chief healer asked as he looked up at the Princess.
He could notice the paleness on her face. Princess Eleanor was not getting better and that was not a good sign.
"Princess," the chief healer stood up as he looked at the Princess, "How are you feeling now? Can you elaborate on how you feel?"
Princess Eleanor was silent. She looked at the back where Priestess’s stood who was observing her but the main focus was Priest Erasmus who was sitting at the very end of the room. His gaze was fixed on Princess Eleanor.
"I feel like vomiting as soon as I see food. It’s hard to describe but I do not know how to say this, but no matter what I eat, I am throwing it up." Princess Eleanor said as she bit her lips.
The chief healer looked back. He did not know what to do anymore. He had already tried to give everything to the Princess. All the medicines that he could think of but the Princess did not show any sign of getting better.
Priest Erasmus saw that the chief healer was at a loss. He could not do anything as he sighed. He looked at the lady in waiting and ordered, "Did the Princess have lunch today?"
Nia, who was asked such a sudden question, panicked. She shook her head as she said in a small voice, "The Princess cannot eat anything. No matter what she is trying to eat, she vomits it right away."
Priest Erasmus smiled, "I need to make sure that the Princess eats something. Bring the fruits here. Cut them and give them to her."
Priest Erasmus looked at Princess Eleanor as he continued, "I hope the Princess would not mind eating something. A few fruits will not be harmful."
Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she looked at Nia who went to get some fruits for her. Princess Eleanor knew that Priest Erasmus would have liked to see her suffer by his own eyes to believe her. She did not find anything wrong as she had already anticipated it.
Princess Eleanor bit her lips. She looked to the side as she saw the chief healer walking back toward the Priestesses.
"Do we have the syrup?" The chief healer asked as one of his subordinates took a bottle out.
Princess Eleanor looked at the man. She was a little confused. She could not understand why it was so hard for them to give up. She was not getting better and it was evident.
"Princess, drink this. You will feel better." the chief healer said as he handed the bottle to the Princess.
Princess Eleanor did not have any choice but to take the bottle and look inside. She got the typical smell of the medicine. Princess Eleanor got the familiar smell of a few of the components but she knew that no matter what she drinks, she will not be feeling better.
The dose of poison that she had ingested was extremely low. It was so small but the effect was large. The only way she could feel better was to give her body some time. Princess Eleanor knew that over time, she would start to feel better and all the symptoms would slowly go away.
Princess Eleanor smiled as she drank the medicine that the chief healer gave her without a second thought. She knew that she was being observed very closely.
Priest Erasmus’s eyes were glued onto her and Princess Eleanor was well aware of it. As soon as she drank the medicine, Princess Eleanor could feel a burning sensation throughout her throat.
Princess Eleanor managed to smile throughout even though her mind was filled with different thoughts. She wanted the chief healer to drink his own medicine once.
"Princess," Nia walked inside as she brought the plate of fruits.
Princess Eleanor could see grapes, apples, and bananas sliced and kept in front of her. She swallowed hard as she looked at her lady in waiting.
Princess Eleanor closed her eyes as their stomach started to twist. She did not want to eat any of this. She did not want to go through the bad experience again but Princess Eleanor knew that she did not have any other choice.
Princess Eleanor opened her eyes as she took a deep breath. She wanted to make herself ready to face what was about to come next. Princess Eleanor took a slice of apple as she took a bite out of it.
Princess Eleanor could feel the pressure from all sides. Everyone was staring at her as if they were ready to observe her reactions to things. Princess Eleanor chewed on it but as soon as she tried swallowing it, everything came back up.
Princess Eleanor started coughing hard. Nia who stood at the side panicked as she took an empty bowl as she gave it to Princess Eleanor. The sound of vomiting spread in the room as they could all see Princess Eleanor suffering. Not only the apple but the medicine was thrown in the bowl.
Nia offered the Princess water as she looked up at the chief healer. She did not say any words to him and her eyes said it all. She was tired of this and her gaze was blaming the chief healer.
The man himself could not understand what was happening. In any of the normal circumstances, the Princess should have eaten the apple normally. Medicine was the most powerful thing that he could come up with.
The chief healer understood that no matter what medicines he gives, the princess would not get better. He looked at Priest Erasmus who got up from the chair. The disappointment on his face was real.
"The Princess should get rest. She will be traveling to House Beaumont the day after tomorrow if this continues."
