The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 95: Unwritten Words
Duke Felix sat at the table looking outside. His mind was filled with many thoughts.
The butler stood at a distance as he looked up at a knight who stood beside him motionless. The butler did not know how to react. He was silent as he swallowed hard.
"Is the information confirmed? Are there any mistakes?" Duke Felix asked as he narrowed his eyes. His fingers were tapping on the table as he took a deep breath.
"Yes, the information is confirmed. The knights that were assigned to Princess Eleanor heard the rumors. It is said that the Princess is seriously wounded and if she does not heal in two days then she might have to shift to Beaumont’s mansion to get treated by Doctor Raul,"
"And why does the doctor not go to the temple and treat her there?" Duke Felix’s eyes sharpened as the aura around him turned deadly, "Isn’t it more visible?"
The knight was silent as he took a step back in fear. He knew that Duke Felix showed how kind and understanding he is on the outside but from the inside, he was a terrifying man. A man who would go beyond and far just to achieve his goals.
"That..." The knight’s voice trembled. "It is said that Doctor Raul and the temple’s healers do not see eye to eye. The Doctor is known to experiment and try to find new ways to cure but the healers in the temple believe in their own old methods."
"So they don’t want to change so they decided to send Princess Eleanor to a stranger’s house just because he had the doctor?" Duke Felix’s voice increased significantly as his gaze turned red in rage. He banged his hand on the table, "Do you think this makes sense?"
"The Grand Duke proposed the idea. It is said that because of Sir Kit then Princess had to suffer so he decided to take the initiative," The knight said as he looked at the Duke.
"And why the Princess cannot shift to the Royal Palace and get treated there?" Duke Felix said as he gritted his teeth.
"If the temple cannot cure a person then the royal doctors cannot do it too. And Doctor Raul is said to be talented but stubborn. Maybe he had the protection of the Grand Duke so no one could force him to. He does not like to attend the Royal Palace a lot."
"This is stupid," Duke Felix said as he moved his hand. "I need to think, move out."
Listening to Duke Felix’s words the knight and the butler looked at one another. They could sense the burning rage in his tone as they bowed their heads and walked out while closing the door.
Duke Felix was silent as he looked around the room. The silence was engaging but he also knew that some things should have to be addressed.
"Nia did not tell me all of this?" Duke Felix was silent, "Why? Why did she not inform me of something so big? What is keeping her occupied?"
"Did something happen? Is Princess Eleanor safe or was she so badly injured that Nia does not even have time to write a letter to me?" Duke Felix tapped his finger on the table.
"I think I need to write to Nia. Maybe then she will remember me and write back," Duke Felix nodded his head. "Yes, this is the only way now. I have to write to her and make sure that I get a reply."
Duke Felix thought back on the knight’s words," What went wrong between the knights and the temple? I cannot believe that the temple refused to change its treatment style. It is unlike them. They are the people who are actively involved in the advancement and keeping their knowledge updated."
Duke Felix thought as he rubbed his chin. "Should I ask someone from the Empire?"
He shook his head. He knew that the people in the Empire were tightlipped, especially regarding the temple. The temple was their source of faith that they did not want to tint.
Duke Felix sighed, he knew there was no other choice. He needed to write to Nia. He could only hope that the two would be safe and that nothing major happened to their life.
"I need to write," Duke Felix said in a whisper as he opened his drawer. On top of the papers, he saw the badge that he had not seen for a long time.
The teardrop like shape was unique but Duke Felix did not wear it. It felt like a cage to him. Duke Felix shook the thoughts away as he took the pages from the drawer and shut them. His mind was filled with different thoughts as he could not form any proper sentence in his mind.
"What should I write?" Duke Felix was silent as he closed his eyes. He knew that he had to write but he could not come up with any proper sentence.
"I cannot ask Nia directly, can I?" Duke Felix murmured, "If Princess Eleanor is involved, Nia might get defensive. But I personally think that the Princess should not go to the Grand Duke’s palace. She should not be staying there."
"What am I supposed to do? How can I make sure that Princess Eleanor understands my concern?" Duke Felix rubbed his chin in thoughts, "I am her best friend, She will listen to me and not go against my words. I am sure but I need to make sure to sound caring."
Duke Felix looked at the blank page in front of his eyes. In any normal circumstances, he could have written anything that he felt like but not now. Today was different. Today he wanted to make sure that he communicated his thoughts to both Nia and Princess Eleanor.
Duke Felix took the pen and he dropped it in ink. "Let’s address Ni with my concern and see how it moves forward. I could only hope that she understands my said unwritten words."
