The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 92: Chief Healer
Priest Erasmus walked outside but before he could leave he looked back at Princess Eleanor one last time.
But he could not see her. All Priest Erasmus could see was the Princess’s lady in waiting.
"Take care of the Princess," Priest Erasmus said to Nia as he walked outside.
Nia closed the door and her back touched the metal in relief. She felt thankful that the Priest had gone and she was alone.
Nia walked towards Princess Eleanor who looked at the medicine that the healers had applied to her. A smile formed on her face as she moved her dress a little more up.
Nia could see the dagger on Princess Eleanor’s tight strap attached by a strap. Princess Eleanor’s hand rubbed around it as if she was admiring it, but soon she moved her dress down to its original position.
Nia was silent. She knew why the Princess had refused to move the dress up and started talking about the culture. She wanted to hide the dagger.
"Princess," Nia walked towards Princess Eleanor "The Priest looks determined to cure you."
"Yes he does," Princess Eleanor nodded her head. A small laugh left her lips, "But the question is can they really do that?"
"Princess," Nia whispered. She did not know how to answer that. She could sense that princess Eleanor was way too normal. She did not say anything at all as if she did not care.
Princess Eleanor looked at Nia with a smile. "The one thing I have learned being a Princess is that people are afraid of change, especially the temple. So what does that tell us?" Princess Eleanor raised her eyebrows.
"What does it tell us?"Nia asked. She bit her lips in annoyance as she could not come up with an answer.
"Well, it tells us that changing their treating techniques was never a question. The temple treats everything by what they know. Their healers have failed to evolve. So they only know the solution or the cure for limited things or we can say limited poisons."
Nia was silent. She tilted her head.
Princess Eleanor understood that she needed to tell Nia what she was saying in a simplified way. "The healers could only give me a cure for a known poison. But cannot give it to an unknown poison."
Nia’s eyes widened. "And the one that we are.."
"Exactly. It is not known and that is why we are using it." Princess Eleanor smiled. Her eyes shined as she looked proud of her lady in waiting. "Anyway Nia, go and see if the cream is poisoned and call Lady Gisella. I need to ask her something."
Nia was confused. She could not understand what Princess Eleanor wanted to talk about with Lady Gisella. ’Is it related to Sir Kit?’ Nia thought but she soon shook her head in annoyance. She knew that even if it was she was in no position to ask.
"I will check for the poison," Nia nodded her head as she walked outside the room in search of Lady Gisella,

Priest Erasmus walked into his room along with a man in a white robe. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"Tell me everything. Is the Princess really hurt?" Priest Erasmus asked as he looked at his chief healer. His tone was sharp as he sat on his chair.
"Yes, the Princess was attacked but the poison..." The Chief Healer’s voice trembled.
"What about the poison?" Priest Erasmus’s tone turned sharp as his eyes narrowed. "I need a clear answer if we can treat her or not? You should know that I do not want to send the Princess to House Beaumont. What message will the people get? The temple is not able to cure a Princess?"
The chief healer nodded his head but swallowed hard. He had an answer but he was afraid to voice it out. He knew that the answer was something that might not please Priest Erasmus.
"There is a poison in Princess Eleanor’s body but I do not know which poison it is. The Princess is harmed by it intentionally. I think someone is trying to kill her," The chief healer said with a trembling voice.
"So you mean someone poisoned her intentionally." Priest Erasmus said as he rubbed his chin in deep thoughts. But why?"
The chief healer understood that whatever it was that was affecting him a lot. "I cannot guarantee that we will try and cure her, but..."
"If you could not then you should have said so. Why did you agree in front of the Princess?" Priest Erasmus’s tone was filled with ridicule as he continued, "Or are you ashamed to say that you are useless so you decided to lie?"
Priest Erasmus’s eyes narrowed as his lips curled up into an evil smirk. "Lying is a sin and doing it on the grounds of God is a sin punishable by death."
The chief healer’s eyes trembled at Priest Erasmus’s words. He swallowed hard as his knees hit the ground. He begged desperately, "No, Please.... I will find a cure. If I found a cure then it would not be a lie. I will make sure that the Princess is healthy... Please... forgive me..."
Priest Erasmus looked down at the man who was on the ground. He shook his head as she looked the other way. "You are the chief healer here. I believe in you. You just hope that your words come true. Find a way to cure her and you won’t be a sinner in the eyes of God."
The chief healer nodded his head hurriedly. He was afraid that the Priest would change his words and the fear itself made him determined to find the solution for Princess Eleanor.
"I will find a way to cure the poison. I will not let any harm come to the Crown Princess’s candidate.
"I want to trust you," Priest Erasmus smiled, "But I only trust the actions. So I will wait and see the results with my own eyes. You have two days to cure here completely."
The chief healer nodded his head. "I understand."
