The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 54: Leave a Mark
Sir Kit could not understand what Princess Eleanor was thinking in her mind.
He could see the panic in her eyes as if he needed to wash his hands at the earliest. What was bothering her was beyond his imagination.
Sir Kit walked outside of the tent as he washed his hands. He did not want to trouble the Princess more than she must have.
Soon Sir Kit walked back inside the tent as he looked at the Princess whose face was a little pale. He did not know what happened to her. She was just fine a minute ago and now she looked like she was genuinely sick.
"Princess?" Sir Kit said in a worried tone. Although he wanted to pretend that Princess Eleanor was sick and stressed after getting attacked, he only wanted to act. And yet the Princess had made it a reality.
Sir Kit’s eyes looked at the bed where the small bottle of perfume was wrapped in his handkerchief, Princess Eleanor followed his gaze as her eyes widened.
Sir Kit felt like Princess Eleanor was attached to the bottle. She was sensitive when it came towards it. She even asked Nia for it. Who would do it when you are hurt and bleeding?
"I will wash it before returning back to you." Princess Eleanor’s voice was soft and small as if she was struggling to maintain a steady pace.
"No need." Sir Kit said as his gaze moved back towards Princess Eleanor. He could see that she was trying to portray herself as if she was normal. But he could see a few tear droplets in her eyes.
The feeling of uneasiness started to creep into his body. Sir Kit could do nothing else but walk towards Princess Eleanor whose eyes widened in shock seeing Sir Kit standing in front of her.
Sir Kit did not mind the gaze coming toward him. He could tell from Princess Eleanor’s body language that she did not want to be near him now. Maybe she was afraid of something, but Sir Kit did not mind. His eyes were fixed on her legs as his finger moved over the bandage.
Princess Eleanor moved her leg back awkwardly, letting Sir kit’s finger hang in the air. Her body was stiff as she looked at the man with a mask. Although Princess ELenaor trusted Sir Kit, she still felt that there were some lines she should never cross. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Sir Kit was a man of his words and he had done everything to protect her. Princess Eleanor was well aware of it but something still bothered her. No matter how hard she tried, Princess Eleanor could not help but feel that Sir Kit was a dangerous man. There was something that he had that was captivating and poisoning at the same time.
Sir Kit had a mysterious aura around him, and with a mask on Princess, Eleanor could not see his expression to understand what the man was thinking. For Princess Eleanor, Sir Kit was a man who was silent like a poison. A poison that was sweet to kill.
"That," Princess Eleanor said awkwardly. She tried smiling but soon her smile cracked when she heard Sir Kit’s words.
Princess Eleanor tried to act as if it was not a big deal. As if everything was normal and Sir Kit was trying to make a mountain of ants.
"Why did the Princess do that?" Sir Kit asked in an irritated tone. His eyes were glaring at the Princess as if he was not happy with what he was seeing.
Princess Eleanor turned nervous. "It needed to be done." She said as she looked everywhere but at Sir Kit. "We will be leaving to visit the temple soon. What if someone checks for the wound."
"And what if it leaves a mark?" Sir Kit said. He was getting annoyed when Princess Eleanor refused to look at him.
Sir Kit could not tell why he was feeling the way he was. Was it because the Princess refused to look at him or was it because she decided to hurt herself to prove his words just like Nia said.
"I know what I am doing." Princess Eleanor looked at Sir Kit who was looking at her. "I know how deep to cut through that will not leave a mark. Like a Princess, I am well aware that if I have any marks on my body I will not be accepted into the Royal family. At least, not as I Crown Princess or the future Empress."
"But the Princess does not want to be one." Sir Kit said as soon as Princess Eleanor’s words were finished. It was as if his mouth spilled out the words before he could process them in his head.
Princess Eleanor was shocked but soon recovered. She could feel no change in Sir Kit’s expression. His eyes were as sharp as ever and his lips formed a straight line. There was no feeling of embellishment on his face.
Sir Kit knew that whatever he said was uncalled for but he also knew that it was the trust. Princess Eleanor had asked him to provide her protection till the time she returned to the Angevin Kingdom. She even wanted his help at one point.
It was very clear to Sir Kit that Princess Eleanor was not seeing her future in the Roulux Empire, but it also made him wonder what she was doing here. Why would she agree to come to the Roulux Empire and be a part of the Crown Princess selection that she never wanted to be associated with?
Sir Kit knew that Princess Eleanor was hiding something. She was hiding her true motive but he wanted to know. He really did want to know.
It was making me interested in her. Sir Kit could not understand but somehow he felt dawned towards the Princess. As if Princess Eleanor had some kind of magic that was pulling him towards her.
Princess Eleanor giggled as she tried to ease the tension in the air. "Yes, I do not."
