The Villain's Apocalypse-Chapter 35: Trial VI
Chapter 35: Trial VI
The entire halberd melted away and turned into specks of dust, vanishing along the soft breeze.
Valegrith stared above with a victorious smile on his face and yelled a single word.
Manifest.
Almost immediately, the battlefield trembled, air wrapping around the desolate land with extreme emergency. The crimson domain surrounding them twisted violently, its energy folding inward, condensing into a singularity at the heart of Valegrith’s being. The world itself seemed to recoil as something monstrous was birthed from his will.
A deafening hiss split the air.
Behind Valegrith, a massive viper emerged, its crimson-scaled body coiling high into the sky like a demonic deity descending upon the world. The viper had its maws wide open and a pitch-black substance, possibly a venom was leaking from within its two sharp fangs, melting the ground beneath it with the sheer amount of its toxicity.
It’s ruby-like eyes reflected immense bloodlust, intimidating anyone from even meeting its gaze.
Uravis hovered in the air, watching the massive snake slither out, forming a protective cocoon around Valegrith’s body.
"Weapon Manifestation." He muttered, narrowing his eyes down. He had never seen Valegrith use this ability, not until today.
Weapon Manifestation was a unique ability of certain weapon masters–an overpowering ability that allowed the weapon to manifest physically in any shape or form, depending upon its owner’s sub-consciousness. The manifested creature would gain their owner’s stats and a unique power of their own.
Despite sounding ridiculous, it also had a downside and a severe one at that. To awaken the Weapon Manifestation ability, you’d have to share a special bond with your weapon–a bond cultivated through love, affection and countless near death encounters with your weapon.
"Shocked right? This is my trump card—THE BLOOD SERPENT, VASHTHORAX! HAHAHA–!" A laughter filled with madness and exhilaration echoed with the air. Valegrith spread his arms widely and stared above, matching Uravis’s gaze. He had an eerie smile plastered on his deathly pale face, looking like a goddamn vampire.
Pointing toward his enemy, he commanded the viper,
"Devour."
Instantly, the massive snake lunged forward, approaching Uravis with breathtaking movements and shattering the sound barrier just with its base speed.
Despite its towering height, its speed was shockingly quick, taking Uravis off guard.
He inhaled deeply, lifting his precious staff high above in the air. The winds that danced through the battlefield whispered to him. The trees that had sprouted from his domain hummed in response. The very essence of life stirred at his call.
And then, he spoke.
Nature’s Blessing–Bind.
A deafening hum resonated as the earth responded to his command. Roots erupted beneath Vashthorax, massive thorned vines lashing out like chains of judgment. They coiled around the viper’s form, searing into its flesh with golden energy.
The viper screeched, its body writhing violently, venom spilling onto the battlefield as it thrashed against its bindings.
Valegrith’s manic grin faltered. "W-What...?"
Uravis exhaled slowly, his expression impassive. "Did you think you were the only one with a trump card?"
Then, with a simple flick of his wrist, he brought Astralis downward.
"Helios Cataclysm."
The sky cracked open, and a golden sun of pure divine energy descended like the judgment of the heavens—straight toward Valegrith and his manifested beast.
The sun burned brightly with intense heat, vaporizing even the space around it with the sheer amount of heat, radiating from its body. It was purely golden, made from the essence of mana within Uravis’s body, combined with the might of the Astralis staff, a broken cosmic artifact.
The snake not willing to await its death, opened its maws widely and spitted an unimaginable amount of venom, covering the entire sun with its sticky, black radiance.
Valegrith’s face darkened significantly as he witnessed the venom vaporizing into thin air, the moment it got in contact with the sun’s true body.
"Vashthorax, Devour the sun itself–!" he commanded, his eyes glinting with pure madness.
He was prepared to devour the trump card of his opponent, even if it meant sacrificing his own beloved weapon.
He roared, spreading his voice loud and wide, "SOLDIERS OF VRAHANS, HIS HIGHNESS’S ORDER IS ABSOLUTE. TODAY, WE WILL WIN THIS BATTLE AND END THIS DECADE-LONG WAR ONCE AND FOR ALL, PROCLAIMING OUR LOST LAND FOR OURSELVES, EVEN IF IT MEANS SACRIFICING THE ENTIRE ZHERATH AS A PRICE, FIGHT–! ANNIHILATE OUR ENEMIES–!."
Meanwhile, Uravis calmly stood above the Zherath army commander, his robe fluttering wildly with the wind as he stared at the enemy’s army.
"Sir, What should we do?"
The commander inquired, sounding humble and respectful. Although he was the commander of the army and the main decision-maker, he was smart enough to recognize Uravis’s presence and immediately provided him with the highest commanding rights, following the order of his majesty, the King.
A small smile graced his face as he turned toward the commander.
"Don’t worry, the fight is almost over."
His words confused the commander but, he still nodded his head, eyeing the opponent’s army warily.
The massive sun, shining across the sky, hindered the vision of Vrahan’s army and intimidated them with its sheer presence. However, it didn’t take long for the crimson snake to reach the sun and devour it in a single gulp, hissing menacingly afterward.
Valegrith was about to mock his opponent when suddenly he sensed something amiss from within the snake’s belly.
An unbearable amount of pain spread through the snake’s body, reaching the limit of its capacity. It winced in pain, twisting and turning around the battlefield in an attempt to cool down the heat emitting from within its body.
The pain reached such unimaginable degrees that even Valegrith, through his spiritual bond with the snake felt the burning pain, scratching through his mind.
The snake’s insides melted away and vaporized instantly, forming a massive hole right on its belly.
Due to being too close to the sun, its entire body started to burn brightly under the influence of the flames and melt away. The skins? They were gone. The bones? They were gone. The scales? They were gone. Everything vaporized.
"URAVIS!!" Valegrith roared, his voice filled with immense anger and hatred.
"You turn next." He swiftly flipped his robe and vanished, startling the army commander beside him. "L-Lord?"
The army commander hastily turned around, gasping at the sight before his eyes.
Uravis, clutched the neck of Valegrith, hanging him right beneath the sun, inches away from burning to nothingness.
"H-How?" Valegrith struggled to break free from his grasp, glaring at him with hatred-filled eyes.
"You used your domain as a medium to manifest your weapon–a foolish choice. Thanks to your effort of removing the domain yourself, I continued my domain expansion, causing it to almost reach your side and, the rest is history." He shrugged off, unbothered by the intense glare.
"Goodbye, Valegrith. Your death will play a significant role in ending this war. Thanks for being my rival." He released his grip, dropping him on the Sun.
"URAV–"
Devouring Curse.
