The Villainess Winning Back Her Beast Husbands-Chapter 99: 9-Star Extreme Realm
Amid the dawn’s rosy glow, he finally turned around.
His purple beast skin clothes billowed, revealing an androgynous face.
His features were as if meticulously painted, the outer corners of his eyes tilting up slightly, sketching an air of effortless elegance.
Slender lashes half-veiled his deep purple irises, like a fine mist suffused in twilight.
A charming, curled lock of purple hair fell, hovering just above the straight bridge of his nose. It created a gentle curve, casting a faint shadow as a subtle fragrance wafted around him.
Despite standing in a foul-smelling swamp, he was like a lush blossom on the verge of falling from its branch, carrying with him an intoxicating fragrance.
Evangeline’s gaze fell upon him. She tilted her head slightly, a soft sigh rising in her heart.
’He really is one of the male leads. He’s even more handsome than I remember from the original owner’s memories.’
Just then, a gust of wind swept past, lifting the curled lock of purple hair from his forehead. The revealed nine-star pattern seemed even more dazzling than the dawn’s glow.
Evangeline stared, stunned. Her breath hitched, and the hairs on the back of her neck stood on end.
The nine-star pattern glowed brilliantly, as if mocking Evangeline’s entire perception of him.
’A Plant Beastman with a mere One Star Pattern, someone who struggled to advance... how long has it been? And now he’s reached the Nine-star Extreme Realm.’
’Did I get the wrong person?’
Pulling her thoughts from the spell of his bewitching features, Evangeline began to think seriously.
Loras was a madman. When the Oasis Tribe fell, his Star Pattern was already shattered. Even before it broke, he was just a boy curled up in rotting leaves, his One Star Pattern buried in mud.
’How could he possibly be this Nine-star Extreme Realm Beastman before me?’
Evangeline looked up again, her expression serious, her gaze carefully tracing his silhouette.
From his brows to his eyes, and then his lips, he was no different from the person in her memories—just more stunning.
’If there was any difference, it was only in his eyes.’
The Loras who had curled up in the rotting leaves had no light in his eyes. They were like embers about to die out.
But now, what flowed within those deep purple irises was a sinister coldness, a dead stillness, a profound darkness. He was like a damp, terrifying malevolent spirit, radiating a calm sense of death and a faint touch of madness.
’Could it be that after a Plant Beastman’s Star Pattern shatters, they can still break through the shackles of their bloodline, and even reshape their soul?’
As she pondered, the morning breeze suddenly grew viscous, carrying with it a dangerous, sweet fragrance.
Evangeline narrowed her eyes, the tip of her foot grinding a half-circle into the damp moss.
Vines ripped through the layer of humus, snaking toward her from all directions. They were even lined with rows of sharp, jagged teeth.
Linden shrieked, grabbed the young Beastman by the scruff of his neck, and scrambled away like an ape.
In their panic, they forgot to take the prey they had left on the ground. The vines’ jagged teeth sank into the creature’s flesh.
Standing on the pile of bones, Evangeline watched as the prey shriveled rapidly, like a punctured ball.
In the next instant, the vines burst from the prey’s hollow eye sockets. Their blood-and-flesh-stained thorns squirmed gently before whipping through the air toward Evangeline once more.
Evangeline pivoted on the balls of her feet, leaning back to evade the vines, her waist bending into a breathtaking arc.
She shot a glance at Loras from the corner of her eye as a burst of flame erupted from her fingertips.
Fire overcomes wood.
The crimson-gold flames leaped high. Licking tongues of fire scorched the vines, causing them to writhe and curl wildly. They let out a grating SQUEAL as the stench of burnt rot and vegetation filled the air.
Plumes of thick smoke rose, plunging the morning swamp back into a hazy obscurity.
A slight smile touched Evangeline’s lips. Suddenly, the rich fragrance was right upon her, the nine-star pattern flickering in and out of view within the mist.
Loras stood in the swamp, gazing at Evangeline on the pile of bones. His voice was low and raspy, like a demon from the depths of hell. "You carry my scent. Why?"
As he spoke, his deep purple eyes stared intently at Evangeline, his pale face betraying no emotion.
Evangeline paused, her eyes scanning Loras from head to toe. "You don’t recognize me?" she asked, testing the waters.
Loras seemed not to understand. Staring at Evangeline like a marionette, he repeated, "You carry my scent. Why?"
This time, a barely perceptible hint of irritation laced his tone.
Evangeline quickly weighed her options, then suddenly broke into a smile.
With a twinkle in her eye, she closed the distance between them. Her slender fingers drifted over his chest, coming to rest over his heart.
"Why do I carry your scent? It’s because we have a Contract. You are my Beast Husband."
Loras didn’t stop her. His deep purple irises seemed to freeze as he continued to stare at her, not so much as a single eyelash flickering.
Evangeline pulled aside Loras’s Beast Skin Clothes. Seeing the Red Fox Contract Mark on his neck, she breathed a sigh of relief.
’I don’t know how Loras became a completely different person, but I didn’t get it wrong. It’s definitely him.’
"Beast Husband?" Loras tilted his head, his fragrant, deep purple hair spilling onto Evangeline’s shoulders.
He mimicked her gesture, his movements clumsy but firm as he pulled aside her Beast Skin Clothes, only to find a smooth, fair neck with nothing on it.
"You’re lying." Loras’s Adam’s apple bobbed, a deathly stillness in his cold eyes.
Evangeline froze for a second, then a mischievous smile touched her lips.
She guided his somewhat stiff hand, lifting the hem of her top. There, on her slender, pale stomach, a purple, double-petaled flower was in faint bloom. The scent it emitted blended perfectly with the man before her, an impeccable match.
Evangeline gazed at his bewitchingly androgynous face. She guided his fingertips to gently trace the swaying Moonlight Flower on her stomach, her voice now serious. "I’m not lying to you."
’Whether Loras has amnesia or his soul was truly reforged, it makes no difference to me as long as I have the right man. In fact, that he managed to restore his Star Pattern on his own just makes things more convenient for me.’
’I just wonder... how does a flower... do *that*?’
’Suddenly, I’m very curious.’
Loras lowered his gaze, his long purple lashes unblinking as he stared at the Moonlight Flower on her stomach.
Suddenly, he spoke again, pointing to the other Contract Marks on her waist. "What are these?"
Evangeline: "???"
Before she could even speak, Loras’s long fingers had already begun trying to rub them away. But no matter how hard he tried, the Contract Marks didn’t budge. His eyes suddenly turned sinister, and a jagged vine shot out from his fingertip.
The corner of Evangeline’s mouth twitched. She grabbed his wrist. "What are you doing?!"
Loras raised his eyelids slightly, his tone placid. "Am I not your Beast Husband?"
The next moment, he leaned in close, a gentle smile gracing his features. Two sharp, white fangs glinted between his red lips, adding a horrifying edge to his words. "Wipe them clean, and then I will be your Beast Husband."
The vine tightened around Evangeline’s slender waist, its jagged teeth digging into her skin and drawing blood.
Evangeline stared at Loras for a long moment. ’He really is so different from before.’
’Among her seven Beast Husbands, Loras had been the most timid and cowardly. Because of the original owner’s torment, he was always meek and submissive, never daring to talk back. When he was whipped, he would just curl up in a corner, biting the back of his hand and sobbing in silence.’
’But this Loras... so domineering and possessive. Is he really the same person?’
’The Contract Mark wouldn’t lie, but this unhinged aura... it’s as if his body has been stolen by some malevolent entity.’
