Chapter 91: Chapter 91: The Little Fox Is Born

WHOOSH—

A brilliant Light Arrow tore through the air, piercing straight through Mundo’s chest!

His pupils contracted. The vicious smile on his face froze. The moment his hand gripped the Light Arrow, it shattered into a celestial shower of spiritual light.

The expressions of the Beastmen changed drastically, the savagery on their faces freezing in place!

As one, they followed the shimmering trail left by the arrow and looked into the distance.

There, a slender figure emerged from the curtain of rain, her pace unhurried.

She held a swaddled infant in one arm. With the other hand, she pinched two fingers together, drew them back through the empty air, and in an instant, a firefly-like radiance gathered at her fingertips, coalescing into a brilliant, ceaselessly trembling arrow.

WHOOSH—

With another sound of an arrow loosed from a bow, the Light Arrow shot through the rain, aiming straight for the throat of the next Monitor Beastman!

Elias Moretti’s crimson body tensed, his Scale Armor contracting sharply.

He stared intently at the returned Evangeline, the heart in his chest trembling uncontrollably.

’Has she gone mad?’

’Once a Fallen Beastman is exposed, it’s a fight to the death with no escape!’

Elias Moretti hissed, his forked tongue flicking in and out, his crimson eyes churning with hostility.

’Why did she come back? What kind of spell has this White Fox male cast on her? Is he worth risking her life to return for? Is she planning on throwing her own life away too?’

The thought exploded in Elias Moretti’s chest, and a potent jealousy spread wildly through his veins.

He whipped his head around, his pupils locking onto the swaying Caden Albright.

’A mere Fallen Beastman... is he even worthy?!’

Caden Albright’s body was wracked with excruciating pain, his consciousness drifting in and out of darkness. But as he watched the Monitor Beastmen fall one by one before him, he was jolted awake.

He struggled to lift his heavy eyelids, some force compelling him to turn his head.

When his gaze fell upon the slender figure walking out of the rain, Caden Albright’s unfocused pupils suddenly contracted. A searing light erupted from the depths of his eyes, like embers flaring back to life.

But in the next moment, his gaze froze.

His eyes landed on the crook of her arm, where a tuft of snow-white fur, gently rising and falling, was just visible.

Caden Albright’s breath caught. He stared blankly, his amber Beast Eyes trembling violently as an uncontrollable mist filmed over them. ’Is that... my cub?’

In the instant Caden Albright was distracted, a vicious gleam flared in Forrest West’s eyes, and his massive, blood-red maw lunged for his neck!

BANG—

A black blur shot forward, its dark snake scales glinting with a cold light in the rain. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

A snake tail swept out with the force of a thunderbolt, sending Forrest West’s massive body flying!

Thorne’s dark green vertical pupils swept over the dying Caden Albright, a rare flicker of emotion crossing his eyes.

He flicked the bloodstains from the tip of his tail, his voice a bit hoarse. "Hang in there! You don’t actually want your cub calling me ’daddy,’ do you?"

Caden Albright’s form trembled violently, and he shifted back into his human shape amidst the downpour.

The snow-white beast skin around his waist was soaked with poisoned blood. His long, silver-white hair was plastered wetly to his paper-pale face, lending his magnificent, beautiful features a touch of sickness and vulnerability.

Caden Albright struggled to push himself up. His amber eyes were fixed in Evangeline’s direction as he pulled his thin lips into a derisive sneer and said to Thorne, "Call you ’daddy’? In your next life."

Thorne’s tense snake tail relaxed imperceptibly. He narrowed his dark green eyes, but his words gave no ground. "So what? Eva already promised to lay a few clutches of eggs for me."

The beastmen from both tribes stared at each other in bewilderment as the two conversed as if no one else was there.

Forrest West staggered up from a pool of blood, spitting out a mouthful of froth mixed with broken teeth. His sinister gaze, sharp as a poisoned barb, shot toward Elias Moretti. "Your Grymdale Tribe dares to conspire with a Fallen Beastman!"

"If word of this gets out, the Grymdale Tribe will surely be exiled from all of Norfell!"

The members of the Grymdale Tribe looked terrified, their scales rustling restlessly as they shifted.

Their gazes shifted constantly between Thorne and Caden Albright, and chaotic hisses escaped their throats.

Elias Moretti slowly arched his body, flicking his crimson tongue as he stared at Thorne. "Thorne, are you sure you want to stand with this Fallen Beastman? Are you willing to abandon the Grymdale Tribe and make an enemy of all of Norfell?"

This was no empty threat. The news about the Fallen Beastman could no longer be contained.

Before long, all the tribes in Norfell would hear the news and take action.

The Grymdale Tribe couldn’t stop them, nor would they even try.

A Fallen Beastman was a sin banished by the Beast God, a defilement that had to be cleansed with blood.

Thorne’s jet-black snake body suddenly arched. His dark green vertical pupils looked down on the Beastmen present as he said coldly, "From this day forward, I am no longer a member of the Grymdale Tribe!"

’He might not care if Caden Albright lived or died, but since Evangeline had chosen to return, he would follow her to the very end.’

’The Grymdale Tribe, the Stannar Tribe... the shackles of these tribes should have been shattered long ago.’

’He was Thorne, just Thorne. Evangeline’s male.’

Caden Albright tilted his head slightly, his bloodstained silver hair draping over his shoulder.

Seeing the determination in Thorne’s eyes, a faint, fleeting smile touched his pale lips.

’This viper has some backbone after all.’

Elias Moretti’s eyes darkened, his crimson snake pupils narrowing into thin slits. "Thorne, you’ve really lost your mind."

"Do you think advancing to a Seven-star Patterned Beastman is enough to protect a Fallen Beastman? How arrogant! Without the Grymdale Tribe, you won’t even survive this rainy season—"

TWANG—

A brilliant Light Arrow embedded itself in the mud right in front of him. The tail of the arrow vibrated, carrying immense force, and the gust of wind it created stung his scales.

This wasn’t a warning; it was a blatant threat.

Elias Moretti’s pupils contracted. The words "won’t even survive" were forced back down his throat.

He turned to look.

Evangeline stepped through the muddy, blood-filled water. The beast skin she wore was also soaked in blood, and her snow-white skin was streaked with it. The surrounding Beastmen stared at her, not daring to make a sound.

A strange silence fell over the area, broken only by the sound of the torrential downpour.

Evangeline lowered her gaze, staring at the little Bunny in the swaddling, its eyes still closed.

She held no umbrella, yet the downpour parted a few inches from her skin, as if forming a hazy barrier. Watching this, the Beastmen couldn’t help but gasp one after another.

Evangeline slowly approached, stepping in front of Thorne and Caden Albright, her bewitchingly beautiful eyes filled with an imperious air.

Her long, narrow fox-like eyes swept over everyone present. A crimson flush, like blood, colored the corners of her eyes, and the scrutiny and pressure in her gaze were almost tangible. Wherever her eyes fell, the Beastmen retreated half a step in unison.

"Thorne can’t protect him." Her red lips parted, her enchanting voice laced with coldness. "Then I will."

As her words fell, a blinding flare of fire erupted from her fingertips!

The flames, pounded by the heavy rain, were not extinguished. Instead, they flared even brighter, nearly vaporizing the downpour!

"AHHH—"

In an instant, the Beastmen of the Monitor Tribe were completely engulfed in flames, letting out bloodcurdling screams.

Within the blaze, their Scale Armor twisted and shattered under the intense heat. Their exposed flesh was rapidly charred black. The air filled with a foul, fishy stench as thick smoke billowed out, forming what seemed like a fog of death.

Evangeline watched this unfold, her eyes curving into a slight smile.

’Anyone who tries to kill the male lead and disrupt the mission’s order deserves to die!’

She lowered her eyelids and reached out to stroke the snow-white Bunny’s fur, her enchanting voice like a delicate hook. "My male, even if he is a Fallen Beastman..."

"...is not for you to judge."
