The Villainess Wants a Divorce:Beast Husbands Regret It to Tears-Chapter 26: I Still Need Comforting
In this world, beasts are generally divided into two types.
One type is ordinary beasts, which do not have ranking, their bodies do not contain spiritual power, they are merely flesh and blood creatures.
The meat of these beasts is tender and nutritious, and can be safely consumed.
The other type is ranked beasts, which have turbulent spiritual power within them, are strong, and have fierce dispositions.
These beasts are not only dangerous and troublesome, but their meat is also tough and foul-smelling.
It’s said that eating them can cause internal spiritual power disorder, and in severe cases, even lead to poisoning and death, so hardly anyone dares to touch them.
Kaelan Hawthorne sat down gently beside her.
His eyes involuntarily fell on her left wrist.
There was a dark brown Beast Ring, seemingly made from polished ancient beast bones.
He blinked, staring at it for a few seconds, always feeling that the ring, which was originally thin, seemed to have grown thicker than yesterday.
"Last night, it was Evan Orwell, Gideon Larkin, and I who went out together."
"Isaac Vaughn and Wyatt Yardley stayed at the cave entrance to guard against other beasts approaching the camp."
"We were really lucky."
Kaelan Hawthorne’s lips slightly curved upward.
"We hadn’t gone more than two miles when we stumbled upon a group of deer grazing by a small grove. They weren’t very alert, and I pounced directly, catching the largest one! Its coat was shiny, and its physique strong, weighing at least three hundred pounds."
He paused, his eyes flickering.
"Evan and Gideon didn’t return empty-handed either, each caught two smaller rabbit-like beasts. Today’s meat is more than enough, and we might even be able to dry some to preserve it."
Although what Kaelan said had a bit of boasting.
Seraphina Caldwell was eating enthusiastically, her mood exceptionally pleasant, naturally disinclined to fuss over such trifles.
She took a big bite of the roasted meat again, her cheeks puffing up instantly, and mumbled, "What about you guys? Are you full? Is there enough food to share? If not, I still have some wild fruits I picked yesterday, though not many, they can still fill the stomach a bit."
Kaelan was stunned for a moment when he heard this, then couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
"There’s enough! We already ate."
He said, waving his hand, his tone much gentler.
"Moreover, we especially saved the most tender piece of leg meat for you, which is the piece you’re holding now. We all said, Seraphina works the most, she deserves the best."
Halfway through the words, he suddenly stopped.
Seraphina sensed his oddness, thinking he was worried about the blood contract they agreed upon earlier, quickly swallowed the meat in her mouth, and wiped the grease off the corner of her mouth.
"Don’t worry, I’ve noted down every time you cooked, not missing a single one. Including this meal, it’s already the third time. Two more meals, and I’ll fulfill my promise, dripping blood on the spot, absolutely no regrets."
Kaelan just gave a faint "Hmm" in response.
Seraphina looked at him somewhat puzzled.
"What? Is there something else you’re not saying? Did you encounter some trouble?"
Kaelan hesitated for a long time before finally speaking slowly, his voice extremely low.
"Wyatt... went into heat. Last night, you..."
He abruptly stopped mid-sentence.
But Seraphina understood.
The roasted meat in her hand suddenly lost its flavor, her heartbeat uncontrollably accelerated, and her ears quietly flushed.
In the morning, several Beast Husbands saw Wyatt emerge from her cave.
The morning light was dim, the mountain breeze gently blowing, a few wisps of mist had yet to dissipate when Wyatt’s figure appeared at the cave entrance.
His attire was slightly disheveled, his hair somewhat loose.
But unlike usual, his expression was exceptionally calm, his gaze steady.
He stood for a moment, took a deep breath, as if adjusting his not yet fully calmed inner breath.
This scene stunned the other Beast Husbands.
This indicated that Wyatt’s mating season had been successfully appeased.
But after Kaelan entered the cave, he couldn’t help but carefully check Seraphina’s physical condition.
He examined her wrists, neck, and carefully inspected her shoulders and the outer sides of her arms.
Ultimately, he confirmed that Seraphina bore no Beast Seal from Wyatt.
This meant they hadn’t truly consummated the union, not using mating to suppress the heat. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
This was simply incredible.
With Seraphina’s pitifully low Beast Ring level, under normal circumstances, it would be impossible for her to suppress a high-ranked Beast Husband at the peak of heat alone.
Let alone appease, even getting close could break her spirit under the oppressive aura.
So, the question arose: how did she do it?
More importantly, since she was willing to help Wyatt through his crisis, what about next time?
If other Beast Husbands entered their heat and had nowhere else to turn, would she also offer a helping hand?
This thought quietly surfaced in Kaelan’s mind.
He stared at Seraphina’s back, his gaze complex.
If that’s true, then Seraphina’s value would far exceed their estimation.
But he ultimately didn’t voice his question.
Some things, if mentioned, would shatter the current delicate balance.
She chose silence, pressing the questions to the depths of her heart.
Seraphina sat peacefully on the edge of the stone platform.
Sunlight slanted through the cave entrance, casting on her face.
"I know about Wyatt. He came to me last night, and I promised to help him."
She paused, looking straight at Kaelan.
"How is he now? Is he clear-headed? Can he continue the journey?"
This was her main concern.
Kaelan was just about to answer when footsteps echoed continuously.
Several Beast Husbands entered the cave one after another, their footsteps echoing off the stone walls.
They came specifically after hearing the news, to check on Wyatt’s status.
Isaac Vaughn brought up the rear, expressionless, his gaze pausing slightly as it passed over Seraphina.
Wyatt followed closely, stepping into the cave, his face still bearing a faint, lingering flush.
It was a remnant of the heat, but his eyes were exceptionally clear.
So before Kaelan could respond, he stepped forward immediately.
"I can walk."
He paused, adding, "But I still need comfort. Today, I’ll carry you."
He spoke these words calmly, without embarrassment.
He knew his body wasn’t stable enough, requiring continuous contact to suppress residual agitation.
And the most reliable method was to maintain physical contact with Seraphina.
Letting her ride on his back was the most direct and effective method.
Seraphina was momentarily taken aback, then understood the meaning behind his words.
She glanced at her hand, then looked up at Wyatt.
A moment later, she nodded gently, "Alright, then I’ll trouble you."
After all, whose back she rode on made no difference to her, as long as it didn’t delay their pace, everything was fine.
The group began packing up tents, gathering dry rations, organizing backpacks, preparing to set off.
Rustling sounds echoed inside the cave.
Just as everyone was about to step out of the cave, Seraphina suddenly called out, "Wait a minute."
Everyone paused simultaneously, stopping their tasks, turning to look at her.
In that instant, the entire cave fell into a brief silence.
Seraphina slowly turned around, heading toward Isaac Vaughn standing in the corner.
