The Villainess Redeems Herself, The Beast Husbands are in a Daily Love Battle-Chapter 97: Pawns
If it’s really like he said, that he has to be with her to recover, then it’s really too much hassle.
Feelings shouldn’t be a shackle, but reality leaves her utterly confused.
Zane’s eyes suddenly reddened, his deep blue eyes quickly veiled with mist.
Tears gathered one by one at the corners of his eyes.
Selene Kane panicked, hurriedly raised her hand, palm up, carefully catching the falling tear.
"What’s wrong? Why are you suddenly crying? Are you feeling unwell? Or did I say something wrong?"
Her voice was anxious, her eyes full of worry.
He tilted his head, looking at her intently.
"I’m male; I can’t let you spend money. I know you want the best for me, but I don’t want to become your burden. I have no money on land and can’t offer any decent gifts. But don’t you all love our tears?"
She indeed liked them.
She remembered the first time she saw him cry, it was on that stormy night.
He curled up in the corner of the balcony, completely wet and cold.
She held him tenderly, tears silently streaming down.
The next morning.
She found a few smooth pearls on the floor.
She had checked the data, knowing mermaid tears turn into pearls, different from ordinary pearls.
They are the truest condensation of emotion.
"I don’t care about those superficial things, Zane. You just need to know, I’m genuinely nurturing you, not for any gain, nor for face, but because I truly care for you, and worry about you from the bottom of my heart. It’s enough that you’re here. Don’t always compare yourself to others; you are unique in my eyes."
Zane looked into her gentle eyes.
He paused for a moment, his chest gently heaving, as if filled with a long-lost emotion.
After a long while, he slowly lowered his head, then raised it again, gently nodding: "Female Master, I trust you."
Sometimes Selene Kane felt that Zane’s brows and expressions resembled Caleb Shaw.
But as long as they stood side by side, as long as Zane looked at her with eyes full of reliance.
He ceased to resemble Caleb Shaw and instead looked like Heath Langdon, who once turned into a butterfly just to flutter around her.
Meanwhile, Evan Sinclair and Ethan Sinclair were desperately pounding on the hatch from outside the spacecraft.
The transparent cabin wall blocked sight and communication.
Selene Kane glanced at them through the porthole, a trace of apology flashing in her eyes.
"You should go back and stop waiting."
Evan Sinclair suddenly punched the window, making a loud "bang" that caused the glass to tremble slightly.
His face turned red, eyes blazing as he shouted: "Where do you intend to go? I won’t allow you to just abandon us this way! Open the door! I’m coming too! Why should only you leave?"
Zane had just calmed down and was in a rare good mood. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
He naturally ignored the commotion outside.
Instead, he leaned closer to Selene Kane, gently wrapped his arm around her waist, a smug smile curling at his lips.
"As males, we should bring peace of mind to women. You’ve been living for so many years; it’s time to learn to take care of yourselves instead of always relying on others like a child."
Zane said lazily.
Selene Kane listened, her mouth slightly curved, nodding gently in agreement.
"You’re right. One should be sensible when it’s time."
Evan Sinclair was so furious that his body shook all over, finger pointed at her, lips trembling.
"You’re siding with him? Both of you, teaming up against me? I’m telling my mom everything when I get back! I’ll tell the whole family to judge this! You’ve gone too far!"
Selene Kane was startled by his words, her eyes wide open: "Wait, don’t... Why bring up parents? It’s not a big deal, why make such a fuss?"
Beside them, Ethan Sinclair was no better, glaring fixedly at Zane’s hand embracing Selene Kane.
"You cunning fish! You’ve lived hundreds of years; how can you be so shameless? Where are your hands? Let her go! She’s the Female Master, not your personal property!"
No matter how fiercely the two shouted, it couldn’t stop the spacecraft’s engine already fired up.
The cabin slowly lifted, separating from the ground, gradually ascending into the sky with a slight roar.
Ethan Sinclair turned his distressed eyes to his brother, eyes rimmed with red, voice choked.
"Bro... What do we do now? The spaceship’s gone and left us here... Can we still go home?"
Evan Sinclair gritted his teeth, fists clenched tight.
Being publicly ignored by the Female Master, with not even a chance for explanation.
If this got out, where would Evan Sinclair and Ethan Sinclair’s reputation go?
Could they still hold their heads high within the family?
"Home!"
Evan Sinclair fiercely spat out a word, grinding his teeth.
"If we don’t go back soon, there’ll be no place for us at home. Father won’t tolerate us being left aside for long."
They eventually caught a ride on the temporary spacecraft dispatched by the Osborne Family, returning to their family territory in disgrace.
But upon landing, they found that Selene Kane hadn’t returned with them.
The spacecraft never landed at their home but directly traveled to an unknown Star Sector.
Both were instantly furious, burning with resentment, feeling profoundly wronged.
As they walked into the hall, they happen to see Heath Langdon quietly sitting on the sofa.
Holding the young Alza in his arms.
Evan Sinclair could no longer hold back, rushing forward to complain, voice urgent and angry.
"Heath, she’s getting more and more out of hand! We’ve been back for so long, and she just follows that newly arrived fish! Treating an outsider better than her own sons! What’s going on? You’ve got to say something! The family’s rules are getting chaotic at this rate!"
Heath lowered his head, his knuckles slightly pale as he clenched the seam of his pants.
"Who the Female Master likes, isn’t for us to decide. Her thoughts, her choices, are ultimately her own business. As long as she’s happy, living freely, we should let her be. After all... we can’t decide her entire life for her."
Evan Sinclair understood this logic, so clearly it almost tore him apart.
But he couldn’t swallow his pride.
Previously, she clung to them tirelessly, entwining their freedom like vines day and night.
But now, when they finally turned back to look at her, willing to try accepting her.
Does she act like she can’t see them?
Acting like nothing concerns her?
"Heath," his voice trembled, "do we just let her ride over us? Allow her to do as she pleases, while we can only bow, give in and pretend nothing happened? Are we... even human? Do we still have any dignity?"
As he spoke, he suddenly lifted his foot, kicking the edge of the sofa.
The wooden frame made a dull "bang," and the fabric tore open.
The commotion was so loud that it frightened the cowering Alza, making him shiver.
The child was already frail, with extremely weak spiritual power.
Ordinarily, he found it hard to endure the normal aura fluctuations of males, and now his face was even paler.
Evan Sinclair narrowed his eyes, turning his cold gaze on Alza.
"And you, little pity. Hiding here, thinking no one sees you? What do you think you are? The Female Master’s new favorite? Or a pawn she uses to balance us out?"
