Chapter 92: Reading Upside Down

Nicholas was also stunned at the scene in front of his eyes. Shortly after, his naive and soft-looking wife transformed into a completely different person with an unnoticeable disguise mask. Her sharp eyebrows gave him a feeling that she wasn’t naive, but rather, this was an extremely cunning woman with a terrible temper.

He stared at her unblinkingly as the middle-aged woman walked out without saying another word.

Only now did Abigail notice her husband standing at the door, staring at her stupidly. Her eyes sparkled as she called out to him, "Husband!"

Yup, it wasn’t anyone else but his wife.

Nicholas soon escaped his dream-like gaze as he said, "Good work."

After speaking stiffly like that, he turned around and walked out of that place without stopping even for a minute. His pace was faster than ever, making Abigail chuckle as she rushed over. "Husband~ How do I look?"

Nicholas continued to head downstairs without saying another word.

"Why aren’t you saying anything? Hmm? Are you shy?"

"Shut up."

"Oh, so you’re indeed shy." Abigail giggled. "Why do you act so adorably if you don’t want me to tease you like this? Stop being a tsundere child in front of me."

Nicholas’s pace quickened even more as he looked at the living room coldly.

At this time, Asher was already sitting in the living room, completely ignoring the presence of the duo behind him. He even started reading the newspaper, but since his entire focus was on the couple behind him, he accidentally held the paper upside down, looking like a fool trying his best to make himself look aloof and indifferent.

Of course, Nicholas ignored it and sat on the couch, opening his laptop. He then started doing his work, not even glancing at his wife. Of course, he was shocked seeing her appearance, but it didn’t mean he would continue to act like a fool in love.

It was Abigail who spoke first.

"You can read it upside down?"

Asher obviously knew what was wrong with the newspaper he was holding, but he still stubbornly held it because he noticed it too late. Now that his mistake was being pointed out, how could it be that he would admit it to his heart?

Thus, he coughed and said, "Yes. I can read it upside down. I’m practicing focusing."

"Oh." Abigail nodded in understanding but still didn’t understand why this young man had to look at the paper upside down like this. No, she understood it perfectly well, but she deliberately acted naive and innocent, asking, "But why? Can’t you use other exercises to focus?"

"I can, but this is more effective," Asher lied through his gritted teeth, feeling extremely awkward.

This was certainly a weird phenomenon that he wanted to forget about. But how could Abigail let him forget about it so easily?

She giggled in her heart, but her facial expression remained confused, saying, "Is that so? Well then, read me a sentence."

"Right now?" Asher felt secretly anxious. Did she figure out that he was just bluffing? She should have; after all, his acting was so obvious. "Uh.... Let me try..."

He looked at the newspaper and tried to find the easiest-to-read sentence. Finally, he found one on a celebrity page and read it aloud: "Anne Bennett was caught showing her middle-finger to another famous celebrity, facing a backlash."

"Huh?" Abigail was stunned hearing that, and she instantly snatched the newspaper. "What the heck? Why is she in the news again?"

Asher looked at her confusedly. "You know her?"

"En." Abigail forgot the entire episode about Asher’s mistake and focused solely on the news as she read the entire thing.

Someone had blasphemed her terribly and even called her a whore from a prostitute mother. How could she not be angry? Anne was originally from a middle-class family with very loving parents and grandparents raised. She could never forgive those people who pointed fingers at her family.

She would stay silent at every black material posted online about her, but she would still react whenever someone spoke about her mother like that. Thus, the fans of both sides reacted and started a media war with one another.

Of course, since Anne wasn’t that famous even after staying in the industry for a long time, her fans weren’t as strong as that top celebrity she went against. It resulted in a heavy backlash, pushing her down even further.

The more Abigail read, the more she became anxious. She turned toward her husband and said, "Husband, look at this! Can you help her?"

Nicholas ignored her and continued typing on his laptop as if he didn’t hear a single word from her mouth. Abigail became angry after seeing that. She instantly walked over and shut the laptop on his face, leaving her husband stunned for a moment.

Then he turned toward her, looking at her coldly. "What are you doing?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"What am I doing?!" Abigail pointed to her newspaper and said, "I was talking to you about something serious, and you’re working?!"

"Because I need to earn money, unlike you." Nicholas spoke those words in a mocking tone.

Abigail gasped as she touched her chest dramatically. "You... How can you say that?! Just whenever you want, I’ll earn money and throw it in your face!"

"By all means. Now, let me get back to work." After that, Nicholas calmly opened his laptop, continuing his work as usual.

Abigail laughed out of anger and said, "Okay. Fine. So you’re not going to help?"

"Nope."

"Okay." Abigail pointed to the other young man sitting behind him, who was about to get up and walk out of the living room, seeing another lover’s spat in front of his eyes. "Then I’ll give my first kiss to him."

"Huh?" Asher was shocked hearing those words as he landed his butt back on the couch, looking at the young woman standing before him with a hint of interest in his eyes. "Did you just say you’d kiss me?"

Of course, Abigail ignored him and continued glaring at her husband, speaking nonsense one after another. "Not just that, I’ll earn money, throw it in your face and get rid of the contract marriage terms. Then I’ll marry him and even give him my first time!"

Sure enough, those words did make Nicholas react. His entire body froze as his fingers stood right above the keyboard.
