Chapter 86: Landing

If Abigail was landing in his city, how could Asher not know? He had been given a detailed list of everything he should take care of while Abigail was there. What’s more? Everything was sent to him by Nicholas in the form of a report!

What frustrated Asher even more was that his cousin knew more about Abigail than him! That damned cold and indifferent cousin of his who couldn’t even protect his own words, wife, for f*cks sake!

When Asher thought about that detailed report Nicholas sent early in the morning, he got even angrier.

No, there wasn’t any reason to get angry anymore. If his luck is great, he will have Abigail for a few days or maybe months. And he’d protect her with all his heart and soul!

As for her identity....

Hehe, he had thought of something indeed. He would support her in whatever she wanted to do!

Soon enough, the announcement told him that Abigail’s plane had landed. Asher instantly looked over the terminal as he waited for people to appear from that area.

Was she still as depressed as before? She shouldn’t be, right? Would she still miss Nicholas and try jumping into the river?

Asher frowned as he looked over anxiously.

She’d better not try anything like that. If she did, he would have no choice but to grit his teeth and find that damned cousin!

But he would never like that option. The woman he liked was treated poorly by her own husband, but if she stayed away, she would become depressed. Even if Asher wanted to do something for her, he wouldn’t be able to unless he found her husband!

What could be more depressing and frustrating than this?! He liked her, but he still needed someone else, a person worse than a stranger, to make her happy!

But Asher still had some hope. He took a deep breath as he continued watching. A crowd of people finally appeared from the tunnel.

His eyes turned serious as he stared at the sea of people without blinking. He was afraid he would miss her; his entire focus was on finding the woman.

But before seeing her face, he heard an excited voice echoing from the tunnel.

"Asher!!!" Her voice was so loud that everyone around him heard that, glancing in curiosity. "ASHER!!!!!"

Everyone’s eyes turned toward the direction of the tunnel as they finally saw the lady who was screaming so loudly, with utmost excitement dripping from her voice.

The lady rushed out, running with her luggage, dragging it behind her back. Amid this, she even got her bag fall off the handle, and she didn’t even notice it in excitement.

Asher facepalmed himself, but he was secretly happy to find the lady behaving as herself rather than being depressed. He never ever wanted to see that phase, ever again.

Thus, he walked over and picked up the bag that had fallen. At the same time, Abigail stopped in her tracks right in front of him and gasped for breath.

She looked at him and grinned. "Long time no see!"

What ’long time no see’ thing she was talking about?! Hadn’t they seen one another just a few days ago, prior to her river incident?!

Initially, after that incident, he had gotten Rosa to ask Abigail to work under him and earn money to finally get rid of the contract. Of course, before he could even tell his aunt about it, he got a call from Nicholas, who himself handed him his wife.

Sure, the circumstances weren’t that great, but so what? Asher got a chance to show how powerful he actually was! He could protect Abigail better than her husband! 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Honestly, he wanted to do more than just speak a few words of greeting, but...

"Long time no see." He flashed a charming smile and said, "I’ve arranged a place for you to stay. Let me carry this for you, yeah?"

"Okay!" Abigail walked forward without even knowing where she was heading. But right then, she stopped and turned around, saying, "Oh yes, stop for a medical on the way!"

"You’re buying medicines?" Asher’s eyes narrowed.

What kind of medicine would she buy? Was something wrong with her? Did something happen when he wasn’t noticing?

All of a sudden, his mind drifted off to the murder news he had heard of early in the morning. It was so gruesome that the authorities had to blur the picture before showing it to the media.

Of course, Asher had seen the original picture and even felt nauseous upon seeing it. But what was more troublesome was the fact that there was a skull placed beside the dead body thrown in the river down the stream that flew toward the outward area. If it weren’t for a few villagers heading there to cut off the wood, it would have been impossible to find that dead body for sure.

Even if the police found it later, it would have been decomposed.

Asher’s brows furrowed even further. Was that murder also related to Abigail? Did that person do something to this woman?

Of course, Nicholas even told him of all the murders just to be careful. So, Asher knew that the murderer might be obsessed with Abigail to the point that he killed everyone. This was one possibility among others that Nicholas had mentioned in his report.

But Asher felt like this possibility was higher than others. So his face paled when he thought of that as he asked in a sombre tone, "Abigail, did something happen last night?"

"Nope." Abigail smiled and changed the topic. "And I’m not going to tell you what kind of ladies things are gonna get. What?! If you’re that curious, you can come with me."

Asher’s body relaxed as he shook off his dark thoughts. He would ask Nicholas about it later. But for now, he shouldn’t focus on his thoughts anymore.

Thus, he smiled and said, "En, let’s go."

"Okay! I want to see my new home!"

Home?

Asher liked the sound of that. To keep her safe and sound, he actually arranged for her to stay at his place without telling Nicholas about it. Even if he found out, Asher didn’t care about it.

But to call his place her new home? Could it be a sign from the heavens that something was going to happen soon between the two of them?!

Asher couldn’t help but feel a little giddy in his heart.
