Chapter 76: Abigail’s Blushing~

In the end, Nicholas averted his eyes, nodding at the woman standing in front of him. He knew what he should do. Although he didn’t know the details, he was sure that the dead woman should have done something worthy of making his wife angry enough to argue.

He was about to return to his room and get his laptop when Abigail stopped him.

"Wait..." Abigail walked over and held his wrist firmly, lowering her head. She was still trembling. "Can... Can I stay in your room?"

By this incident alone, it was clear that she was too dependent on her husband emotionally. Whenever she was utterly frightened and depressed, the only person she would want to see was Nicholas. Although she herself hadn’t realized this.

Even the man himself didn’t realize this fact and nodded, thinking she was probably tired of standing for too long, and this small incident must have added to her injury. Maybe he should try and act like a better human being.

Since he had already decided that he would rather keep Abigail as his wife than anyone else, shouldn’t he try to treat her better than before? At the very least, if she needed something desperately, he wouldn’t refuse like before.

But that was his limit. He only wanted someone who could understand him enough, not a lover or anything. He had too much work to focus on rather than distracting himself with things like love and relationships.

He didn’t look at her anymore and walked toward his room. Abigail also silently followed, trembling slightly on the way. She cut a sorry figure from Rosa’s perspective.

But since her daughter-in-law’s and eldest son’s relationship was improving a little, she wouldn’t interfere between them. But she knew that however cold and indifferent Nicholas had been, he would always care about his family no matter what.

Sure, she knew that he grew up with an iron wall standing around his heart that even she as a mother couldn’t break apart easily. She sincerely wanted her eldest son to have a good relationship, to have someone he could depend on emotionally.

Rosa felt her heart warmed and settled when the two of them entered the room and closed the door behind.

Beside them, Chris felt like he was no longer needed. So he shrugged and decided to really work on his date. Ugh, the date. What should he wear now?

He scratched the back of his neck and walked slowly toward his room. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Of course, it wasn’t that he liked that guy or something. Arthur was merely his type of guy. So since he was already single, why shouldn’t he try to form a relationship? He might end up finding himself in a long-term relationship. Who knows?

But still... he had no idea how to date. Sure. he had a few flings and one night stands, but that was all. His idea of a date was only limited to the bar.

His hand scratched his hair roughly as he frowned and started to think carefully on this topic. Should he ask Arthur himself?

No, bad idea. It would look terrible for a person like him. After all, he was taller than Arthur, and he had all the qualities to be a top. Why shouldn’t he be the one to decide?

Ah, he should really have accepted Abigail’s help in this!

Just as he was thinking about it, the door to Nicholas’s room opened abruptly as an overly excited Abigail marched out with her eyes shining brightly. She looked like she hadn’t been the one trembling in fear just a moment ago.

She quickly walked toward Chris and held his shoulders, saying, "Let’s plan your date!"

"Huh?" Chris really did realize that his sister-in-law might really be crazy and not just moody.

How could a person’s emotions transform from one extreme to another so fast? Something was absolutely wrong with this lady!

Of course, he wasn’t going to say it out loud to her. He still needed her help in planning the date. So he nodded, composing his expression to the best of his ability.

Abigail’s eyes glistened as she cheered up and giggled, mumbling, "Arthur is going to fall for you all over again!"

"What?" Chris felt like he heard the woman speaking something under her breath.

"Nothing. Let’s get you ready first." Abigail rubbed her palms and turned toward her mother-in-law. "Mom, I would need your help in choosing an outfit for him!"

Rosa, who still couldn’t understand what just happened nodded robotically. Finally, she walked over and asked, "What just happened?"

Abigail coughed as a trace of blush appeared on her cheeks. She didn’t want to talk about what happened inside. So she just said, "Nothing."

How could Rosa not notice her expression? Her eyes glistened as she smiled and finally relaxed. Since Nicholas did something, he surely would handle everything related to that news and try his best finding that culprit.

Since they had someone handling everything, she shouldn’t worry too much about it. Thus, she also stopped fearing and said calmly, "En. I’ll help you."

Abigail still felt her cheeks blushing as she patted there with her palms and said, "Okay."

Ah, how could there be nothing?!

Nicholas had just cornered her against the door!

A few moments ago.

As soon as she shut the door behind her, before she could head over to the bed and curl herself up in the blanket to hide from the world and tremble, she felt Nicholas stopping in his tracks. The man turned around and looked at her.

Since he was taller than her, Abigail had to tilt her head up and look up at him with tears in her eyes. As they stared, she lowered her head and tucked her hair behind her ears, sniffing. She mumbled under her breath, "I’ll lie on the bed for a while."

Despite the fact that she tried her best to seem normal, her pale face revealed the trace of fear hidden deep in her heart. Of course Nicholas noticed that expression as he creased his brows.

Who knew what got into him? He raised his hand all of a sudden and wiped her tears with his thumb. At that time, his expression had softened, and he himself didn’t notice it.

But when he realized what he just did, his hand froze on her face. Even Abigail froze as she looked up at him with eyes widened.

The two of them continued to stand there awkwardly like that without saying a word.
