Chapter 75: Depending On Him

"Oh~" Abigail exclaimed from the side, giggling. "So brother-in-law is going on a date." ๐’‡๐™ง๐™š๐“ฎ๐™ฌ๐™š๐“ซ๐’๐“ธ๐“ฟ๐“ฎ๐’.๐“ฌ๐™ค๐“ถ

"Should we help him get ready?" Rosa thoughtfully rubbed her cheeks.

Chris instantly hid his phone in his chest as his eyes widened. "You... What are you two doing?! How can you glance at my phone in such a short amount of time?!"

Abigail chuckled and said, "I was just teasing my husband. Actually, Nicholas isnโ€™t that bad. See, he even treated my injured foot!"

She showed her feet as if she couldnโ€™t be prouder of the current moment.

Chris didnโ€™t have any desire to see his sister-in-law showing off their marriage when in reality, there wasnโ€™t even a single drop of love between them. He knew their naked reality, and he wanted to stay far away from them.

But he did have an issue with his sister-in-law meddling in his business.

"Go away! I donโ€™t need your help!"

"Oh, but we want to!"

"I can give you good ideas for what you can do on your first date." Abigail winked at her brother-in-law.

Chris looked at her thoughtfully as he asked, "You know dating tips?"

For some reason, he found it hard to believe that this foolish young woman knew something like this.

"Of course!" How could Abigail not know anything about it? She had written their first date herself, and it was so good that Arthur fell in love with Chris by the end of the day!

If her brother-in-law had a hope, it was her!

Abigail patted herself on the back as she said, "Iโ€™ll surely help you!"

Chris was still doubtful, but he still nodded. Not that he was confused over dating ideas. Nope.

Just as they were talking about it, Chrisโ€™s cell phone rang as he happened to look into his notification. Abigail and Rosa, who were standing beside him, also glanced at the screen.

There was a news update. The moment the two ladies looked at the news content, they froze.

The thing that shocked Abigail the most was the fact that the person who was murdered was the same woman she argued within the cafeteria of the mall today, and not only that, there was even a skull origami placed right next to her dead body in the picture.

Chris merely glanced at the news and was about to close it when Abigail snatched his phone and looked at the screen with a pale face. He could even see her hand trembling a little.

A frown crossed his forehead.

It was just death news. What was there to be worried about? Many people die every single day. Someone might have done theft or something and killed the woman on the way.

But when he glanced at his mom, who was similarly pale after glancing at the pic, his frown deepened.

Finally, Chris couldnโ€™t help but ask, "Somethingโ€™s up?"

Abigail clearly couldnโ€™t speak much after seeing that screen. She didnโ€™t even hear her brother-in-lawโ€™s words as she continued to stare at the picture posted on the news blog.

Of course, the injured part of the lady had been blurred, but the officials posted another picture, indicating her identity. So Abigail figured out the womanโ€™s identity easily without having to scratch her head like crazy.

But more than that, she was staring at that skull origami. Her heart sank so deep that she saw nothing but darkness. Her hands trembled as cold sweat formed on her back.

She had momentarily forgotten that this world was a novel, a story she wrote herself. She had forgotten the key events at this point.

But now that she remembered, she knew that the second target of the murderer had been stabbed into her back at the mall. Just the targeted woman changed, nothing else.

In her novel, the villain had also gone to the mall with her friends and bumped into an arrogant rich kid who didnโ€™t recognize the villain as Mrs. Harrison. So the two argued and separated, but the villain remembered that womanโ€™s face. Thus, she stabbed the woman right onto her back and even placed her skull origami beside her dead body.

Clearly, the original villain was a psycho.

Abigailโ€™s face paled as she thought about their situation. If the argument happened just like in the novel, and if the arrogant woman was also killed similarly, then it should mean the villain was present right there! And for some reason, that person was killing everyone around her!

Her face paled even more when she thought about it.

Just what the heck was happening? Hadnโ€™t she changed the course of events already? Hadnโ€™t she allowed Chris and Arthur to meet sooner than before? Hadnโ€™t she saved Nicholas from dying already?

Why didnโ€™t the story change even a little?! Why did the target change every time a murder happened?

No... She should rather ask herself who would be the next target of the killer.

She liked her lips and said, "I-Iโ€™ll go to my room."

Rosa looked at her daughter-in-law in worry. She could hear a slight trembling in the young womanโ€™s voice! Clearly, that incident had scared her to death!

Ah, why were all the murders happening around Abigail?! It couldnโ€™t be that she ended up attracting a psycho stalker or something, could it?

The more she thought about it, the more she became scared. She took a deep breath and said, "Go back. Rest a little." Then she turned toward Chris and smiled apologetically, "Son, go and have your date. Have fun. Donโ€™t worry, we are fine."

"But what exactly happened?" Chris really didnโ€™t want to go anywhere after seeing his mom acting like this. "I think I should stay."

"Donโ€™t." Rosa thought about it and said, "Iโ€™ll have Nicholas investigate this case. Heโ€™ll handle everything. Focus on your date tonight and nothing else."

"Is it sister-in-lawโ€™s friend?"

This time, Abigail replied, tremblingly, "We argued with that woman back in the shopping mall in front of everyone, and now... now... sheโ€™s dead..."

Her voice trembled as tears rolled down her cheeks. She didnโ€™t know what was happening, but she was sure she didnโ€™t want to feel this way.

If it continued, she would surely head toward the depression path sooner or later. Just as she was thinking about it, Nicholasโ€™s voice vibrated from a distance.

"Iโ€™ll investigate it." Nicholas looked at her as his frown deepened. His heart felt like someone was twisting it in pain as he looked at her condition.

Abigail raised her tear-filled eyes and looked over at him, making the manโ€™s heart thump in his chest.

For some reason... He seemed to like seeing her crying and depending on him like this.
