Chapter 164: I Can’t Lose You Too....

On the other side, Abigail had already sat on the backseat of the car as Nicholas entered beside her. Then he ordered the driver to get them directly to the airport.

Since something like that had happened, it means staying in this country was very dangerous for his wife. He would take a return plane as soon as possible. In any case, he had already booked the tickets.

As for the police case here...

He planned for his assistant to deal with everything. Abigail was already troubled as is. He couldn’t let her continue to face even more troubles by staying here considering her emotional state as of now.

Just as they were going in another direction, Abigail turned toward him and asked hurriedly, "Where are we going?"

"We are returning." Nicholas wasn’t a man of many words. So he didn’t feel the need to explain every single thing to the woman.

Who knew she would instantly become terrified at the thought and grab his hand, shaking it rapidly, "No! I’m not going anywhere! Driver, get us back to the hotel!"

"Why?" Nicholas was clear that even though Abigail clearly liked Asher, she had emotionally stabilized at the moment and she probably had nothing to do with this place anymore.

In his mind, Abigail was someone who still wanted to save herself more than ever. Wasn’t that why she continued to remain married to him in the first place? If not for her life, she would have long taken Asher’s idea into life and gotten a divorce.

"I want to kill her." Abigail’s voice was cold as she looked at him and said, "She cannot be left just like that. If we leave her now, she would return with even more favor, and I don’t want that."

Nicholas stared back at her for a moment and finally turned toward the driver. "Drive us to another hotel."

Abigail released the breath she was holding. Even though they were going to stay somewhere else for the time being, she was glad that she managed to make him stand back.

Who knew when Nicholas opened his mouth, he ended up speaking, "But in exchange, what will you give me?"

"Huh?" Abigail raised her head and looked at the man sitting beside her, tilting her head in an innocent manner. "What should I give you?"

And why? He looked so handsome when speaking those words. Nicholas pulled at his tie and unbuttoned his cuffs, pulling up his sleeves. He leaned back casually and asked, "Technically, I’m agreeing to your demands. So you should agree with me too."

"????" Abigail didn’t know what kind of medicine he had eaten today. This person was so weird.

She had already gone through a lot today, seen the death of the person she liked, and even promised to get married after they dealt with the mess. And here was her terrible, cold-hearted husband who didn’t speak about anything other than benefits and logic.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. In the end, she glared at him as her cheeks puffed up, saying, "You really don’t care about me at all! I’m already feeling depressed and you still want a benefit out of me even at such a time?! Have some shame!"

If Nicholas hadn’t gotten any trace of memories from Asher, he might not have realized he really loved his wife. Otherwise, why would he even strive to be with her in the first place?

Those memories also told him vaguely that even Asher felt somewhat familiar with that Silas character in Abigail’s novel. Even though Nicholas found it mysterious and unbelievable, he could come to a simple conclusion.

The two of them were probably somehow related to that character.

Of course, Nicholas wasn’t someone who would believe in such an absurd thing out of the blue. He believed it based on the dreams he was having lately, every single night.

Thus, he made a bold decision. He would pursue his wife openly from now on. Otherwise, he might end up missing out on her even before they can consummate their marriage.

Sure, she was sad and depressed, and he knew it was kind of rude to tease her at such a time, but what if this teasing could get her mind off of things that would probably trouble her to death?

Thus, he looked at her with the same indifferent expression on his face, but at this time, his eyes carried a hint of playfulness that had never appeared before.

Abigail was stunned after being stared at like that. She pursed her lips and averted her eyes, waving her hand behind her back. "Do whatever you want."

"Okay." Nicholas looked like he finally signed a deal that would benefit him greatly as he also pulled out his phone and called his assistant. "William, I need you to do something."

As the man continued to talk, the car remained in a strange tranquility and silence. Abigail continued to stare outside the window as she looked at the scene through the glass in a daze.

Time and time again, Asher’s laughing and teasing face appeared in front of her eyes, making her chest feel a trace of heaviness that she had felt upon seeing the man’s body before. She pulled her hand to her chest and gripped the cloth there as if she were trying her best to erase the trace of sadness and heaviness she felt there.

Her throat was choked up with so many emotions that she couldn’t speak at all. Her lips parted and closed as she continued to look in a daze.

It was all her fault.

If only she had obediently returned with Nicholas....

No... Wait a minute... What if Rebecca ended up killing him too?

All of a sudden, another wave of panic appeared in front of Abigail’s eyes. She instantly turned toward her husband and grabbed his hand, looking at him worriedly. Her eyes were full of panic when she spoke, "Husband, let’s return!"

"What?" Nicholas had just finished giving William a string of orders when he heard the woman speaking those words. He turned toward her and raised his eyebrows. "Now you want to return?"

"Yes." Abigail’s panicked expression only became even more clear as she stared at him. Her grip on the man’s hand tightened. "I... I cannot lose you too...."
