The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 399 - 401: Wrestling Match
At the referee’s signal, the two contestants shook hands as a sign of respect. They wore tight, short-sleeved canvas vests on their upper bodies and baggy wrestling pants below, with overtrousers embroidered with patterns of animals and flowers.
Amidst the cheers and applause from the crowd, the two contestants showed off their skills, and after a few back-and-forths, the atmosphere grew even more intense.
Naomi Kenway was watching intently when she suddenly remembered something. She turned, about to speak, only to find Ethan Shaw staring at her, a lingering tenderness in his eyes he hadn’t had time to hide.
"You... Everyone is watching the wrestling. Why are you staring at me?"
"It’s a little windy here, and your hair got blown loose." Ethan Shaw skillfully gathered Naomi Kenway’s hair and tied it back up for her.
Once it was tied, Naomi Kenway touched her hair. It was perfect—not too tight, not too loose. Ethan Shaw’s hair-tying skills had clearly improved.
"You turned just now. Was there something you wanted to tell me?"
"I was just watching their match. You remember that your first event is wrestling, right?"
Ethan Shaw met Naomi Kenway’s sizing-up gaze. His eyes darkened slightly as he raised an eyebrow. "You don’t believe in me?"
Naomi Kenway nodded, then shook her head. "That’s not the main thing..."
Ethan Shaw’s brow furrowed slightly before he chuckled. "Have you got so little faith in me? Don’t worry. I just look a little lean."
He held out his arm. The veins stood out against his fair skin, hinting at a powerful strength.
"Want to feel for yourself?" he teased.
Naomi Kenway reached out and gave his arm a squeeze. "Actually, that wasn’t what I was thinking. Mmm, I’m just having a hard time picturing you wrestling. Mmm... now that you mention it, I really can’t imagine it at all..."
Ethan Shaw laughed. "You’ll see soon enough."
Ian, who was clinging to Ethan Shaw’s neck, asked, "Does Ian get to participate?"
Naomi Kenway smiled and squeezed his little hand. "Do you want to participate?"
Ian’s eyes lit up as he nodded. He asked the tour guide standing nearby, "Mr. Tour Guide, can Ian wrestle?"
The tour guide sized Ian up and couldn’t help but laugh at his adorable expression. "You’re too young. You’ll have to wait until you’re bigger to participate. Wouldn’t it be a little dangerous for a little boy to wrestle?"
At these words, Ian’s head drooped in disappointment. Ethan Shaw patted his back reassuringly.
Naomi Kenway poked Ian’s cheek. "How about Mommy wrestles with you when we get home? Don’t be discouraged."
"Really?"
"Of course. We’ll put down mats so we don’t get hurt."
Ian reached out to wrap his arms around Naomi Kenway’s neck, nuzzling against her affectionately. "Ian loves Mommy the most."
Ian was in Ethan Shaw’s arms, but his own arms were wrapped around Naomi, his body twisted like a pretzel. Just as Naomi was about to take him, Ethan said, "Let him get down and walk around for a bit. This is all soft grass, perfect for him to play on."
Ian was set down, but his little hand still clung tightly to Naomi Kenway’s. He didn’t immediately run off to play with his friends, his small figure simply leaning against her side.
[Wow, he’s so practiced at tying her hair. He must have done it a thousand times. Now *this* is a real, sweet couple. That Mr. Jennings and Mr. Lynch before looked so fake from the start.]
[Why are we still talking about them? One of them is hiding away at home, and the other wants to come out but can’t. All I can say is, they’re a perfect match for each other!]
[This wrestling match is awesome! I bet the guy on the left will win!]
[I’m betting on the one on the right.]
[The wrestlers are all so big and burly. I don’t know if the celebrities can handle it, they look a little scrawny.]
...
When the contestant on the left’s knee was the first to hit the ground, the referee declared the contestant on the right the winner!
Naomi Kenway clapped along with the cheering crowd, and Ian clapped his little hands too.
"That was absolutely thrilling!" the tour guide exclaimed, clapping loudly.
The two contestants stepped down, and the tour guide took the stage with a bullhorn. "Before we begin our wrestling competition, let’s welcome our friend, Almur, to teach us some wrestling techniques!"
Almur, the winner of the previous match, got back on stage, still dressed in his wrestling gear.
During the instructional segment, Naomi Kenway listened with rapt attention, not missing a single move Almur demonstrated. Down below the stage, she began to practice, her form surprisingly good.
Onstage, Almur suddenly gave her a thumbs-up, praising her with a hearty laugh, "Your form is perfect! Excellent!"
Naomi Kenway responded with a fist-and-palm salute. "Thank you for the praise."
Jeanette Kensington glanced in Naomi Kenway’s direction, then lowered her eyes slightly.
She shifted her gaze back to the stage, her brow furrowing almost imperceptibly.
Penny Morgan looked up and asked, "I like room number four. Can we get room number four?"
Jeanette Kensington smiled. "Only room number four?"
Penny Morgan nodded, confused.
"I’m confident we can get it," Jeanette Kensington stated.
The wrestling competition was divided into two divisions: men and women. The dads were in one group, and the moms were in another, with each group competing separately.
The match order was determined by drawing lots.
First up from the dads’ group were Seth Sawyer and Miles Sanders. The two nodded amicably at each other, but at the referee’s signal, they were instantly grappling. Neither was particularly skilled, and both wobbled unsteadily. Ultimately, Seth Sawyer was the first to fall. Miles Sanders quickly reached out to help him up. "Sawyer, you okay? Did I use too much force?"
Seth Sawyer laughed and waved his hand. "I’m fine, I’m fine. It’s just for fun."
He sat on the ground and looked at Ruby Preston. "Hahaha, I guess I really am getting old. No use trying to fight it."
Ruby Preston’s lips curved into a smile.
Seth Sawyer took Simon Sawyer’s hand to pull himself up. They high-fived, and Seth ruffled his son’s hair. "Sorry, son. Dad lost."
"You tried your best. The result doesn’t matter," Simon Sawyer said.
Carina Sanders came forward and took Miles Sanders’s hand.
Both families left the stage.
Next to take the stage were Ethan Shaw and Gene Woods.
Before stepping onto the stage, Ethan Shaw gave Naomi Kenway’s hand a light squeeze, reassuring her.
Ian pumped his little fists in the air and cheered, "My daddy is the best! My daddy is the second-strongest person in the world!"
Beside him, Carina Sanders asked curiously, "Who’s number one? Who’s the strongest in the world?"
Ian lifted his chin proudly. "My mommy!"
"Hmph, that’s not true! My dad is the strongest! He said he’d win a big trophy and give it to me!" Jared Woods retorted indignantly.
"But there isn’t a trophy for our wrestling competition," Carina Sanders pointed out.
Jared Woods’s expression faltered, but he insisted, "I don’t care! My dad is the strongest, anyway! He promised me he would win!"
Ian’s dark, shining eyes sparkled. "My daddy will win! I believe in him!"
And just like that, the children’s competitive spirits were ignited, and the two boys started bickering back and forth.
"That’s not true, my dad is—" Before Jared Woods could finish, a whistle blew. The match was over.
