The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 372 - 371: Walter Ford, There’s No More Future
Unlike Walter Ford, a glint of light appeared in Crystal Bishop’s eyes. Clinging to a last shred of hope, she said:
"Walter Vance and I are boyfriend and girlfriend. We’re deeply in love, so I hope you can let us be together, Ms. Shaw. I know you were born into wealth and want for nothing, but I’m different. My family has passed away, and now Walter Vance is all I have. Please, I’m begging you, let us be together! I can’t live without him..."
Ignoring Walter Ford’s attempt to stop her, she dropped to her knees and pleaded incessantly, "Please, Ms. Shaw! I’ll be grateful to you for the rest of my life!"
Now that the truth was out, Jenna Shaw didn’t feel the vindication she’d expected. Instead, she fought to hold back the tears welling in her eyes.
Walter Ford closed his eyes and sighed.
Jenna Shaw looked at Walter Ford. "Don’t you have anything to say to me?"
"No. Jenna, you’re bound to get hurt when you insist on digging into things like this."
He reached out and helped Crystal Bishop to her feet. "Get up."
Walter Ford turned to face her. "She’s innocent. If you want to hit someone, hit me."
Jenna Shaw slapped Walter Ford across the face. Still not satisfied, she slapped his other cheek. But as she raised her hand for a third time, Crystal Bishop caught her arm, crying and pleading, "Please, Ms. Shaw, spare him!"
Jenna Shaw impatiently shook her hand away. She watched as Walter Ford’s cheeks began to swell, and he shook his head as if dizzy.
Walter Ford pressed a handkerchief to the lower half of his face, hissing in pain.
Jenna Shaw was torn between tears and laughter. Finally, the man before her no longer wore the idealized face she held in her memories.
"Walter Ford, why are you always like this? Do you think I can never leave you?"
Walter Ford didn’t respond.
"Walter Ford, I’m asking you. Since you already have someone you love, since you don’t even like me, then why did you get together with me? Why get engaged and meet my parents? You used to be so good to me. You helped me with my homework, you told me I was one-of-a-kind, you accepted the lunches I made for you, you let me walk you home after school..."
"Why? Just tell me why! Why did you become this person! If you didn’t like me, why... Why did you lead me on? I thought you liked me. I really thought I was your one and only..."
"Because I’ve always been this way. You were just too stupid to see it," Walter Ford said coldly. "I’ve told you I don’t like talking about the past. Why do you insist on bringing it up again and again?!"
"Since you’re so curious, I’ll tell you." Walter Ford clutched his throbbing cheek. "You probably know this, right? I’m an illegitimate son. I lived with the Ford Family for a short time when I was a child before being sent off to the countryside. It wasn’t until the family’s only son was kidnapped and murdered that I was brought back to the Ford Family, posing as Mrs. Ford’s biological son who had been studying abroad."
"That period of my life was hell. None of them really wanted to acknowledge my identity. They just saw me as a replacement for the Ford Family’s eldest young master—for my brother who died young. That includes my father, who was good for nothing but sowing his wild oats. To make my life a little easier, I had no choice but to do everything I could to please them. Before grooming me, my father gave me many tasks to test my potential."
Walter Ford let out a cold laugh, but Jenna Shaw had already guessed his next words. "Your task... was me, wasn’t it?"
"You were my first task. Back then, the Ford and Shaw families had a falling out over a business deal. My father certainly wasn’t going to let a big fish like the Shaw Family get away, so he had me get close to you and treat you well. When you think about it, we have you to thank for the close relationship between our two families."
"So our engagement... was that arranged by your father too?"
"No. I figured the marriage would be good for my career."
"You’re telling me all this now because you don’t need me anymore, is that it?" Jenna Shaw glanced at the closed office door. This was the general manager’s office. A year ago, the Ford Family had officially announced Walter Ford as their sole heir.
Walter Ford said nothing, which was as good as a confirmation. "So now you understand. Don’t bring up the past anymore. Do you have any idea how embarrassed I felt every time you mentioned us riding the bus or eating at street stalls? Those days before I went abroad were the most humiliating time of my life."
Jenna Shaw clenched her fists, her nails digging painfully into her palms. She could only tilt her head back slightly, trying to keep the tears from falling.
’So, what I considered my most cherished memories were just his most humiliating ordeals.’
Walter Ford’s voice softened slightly. "Alright, Jenna. I’ll... handle my relationship with Secretary Bishop. From now on, you don’t bring up our school days, and I won’t bring up Crystal Bishop. We’ll just leave it at that, okay?"
He considered this a huge concession on his part and simply waited for Jenna Shaw to nod in agreement.
Hearing this, Crystal Bishop stared at Walter Ford in disbelief. "Walter Vance, what are you saying...?"
Walter Ford ignored her. ’He’d always seen Crystal Bishop as a mere pastime—prey to satisfy his desire for conquest. Unlike his father, who thought with his dick, he knew how to weigh his priorities. He liked Crystal Bishop, but there was no way he would give up the far more valuable Jenna Shaw for her. Luckily, Jenna was easy to placate. All he had to do was crook his finger, and she’d come running.’
Realizing this revelation might have been a major shock to Jenna Shaw, Walter Ford’s voice grew heavy as he asked, "Haven’t you decided yet? I’m only giving you this one chance, Jenna. If you miss it..."
"Keep your chance. We don’t have a future."
Jenna Shaw lifted her head, enunciating every single word.
"What?" Anger flared in Walter Ford’s chest, but just as he was about to speak, he noticed the tear stains on Jenna Shaw’s face.
In all the time they’d been together, he had never seen Jenna Shaw cry. He’d once jokingly mocked her for her stubborn personality, saying she wasn’t likable and that only the crying kids get the candy. But now that she was actually crying in front of him, Walter Ford felt an even stronger wave of irritation wash over him for some reason.
"Jenna Shaw..." His voice turned cold. "If you walk out that door, I will never wait for you to change your mind. You’d better think this through."
Watching her receding figure, Walter Ford couldn’t help but frown. A strange panic fluttered in his chest. He took a step forward, then stopped himself and let out a vicious curse.
*
By the time Jenna Shaw left the office, she had already wiped the tears from her face. She coughed lightly a couple of times to make her red-rimmed eyes seem less obvious.
"Ugh, why is she here again? Doesn’t she realize how annoying she is?"
"I heard from Secretary Bishop that she and our Mr. Ford have been in love for years, but this Ms. Shaw viciously tore them apart. I mean, look at her. She’s nowhere near as pretty as Secretary Bishop. If I were Mr. Ford, I wouldn’t give her the time of day either. She’s just relying on her family’s status!"
