The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 289: Reflections
The swift boat has passed ten thousand mountains.
Naomi Kenway was deeply moved. She heaved a long sigh and squeezed Ian’s little hand.
’After all, everything was finally heading in a good direction. She would continue to watch Ian grow up healthy and happy, and she would always be by his side.’
As if sensing her feelings, Ian reached out and squeezed her hand in return.
"Our journey is more than halfway over. I’m sure that over the last four months, you’ve all made many happy, leisurely memories and have had many new insights. Until now, our guests have been busy with tasks and have rarely had a peaceful time like this to just chat. So, for the upcoming free time, is there anything our guests would like to say to their children?" The director put down the microphone after he finished speaking.
Margaret Jennings was the first to speak, her face wreathed in smiles. "Carina, Mommy is so happy to be traveling with you. I always thought you were the one who needed to be taken care of, but after coming here, I realized my Carina is a little warrior who knows how to look after and protect others. You’re even stronger and braver than Mommy imagined..."
Tears shimmered in Margaret Jennings’s eyes. "You’re Mommy’s only daughter, and you are my eternal pride!"
Carina Sanders, still dressed in a beautiful princess gown with her silky hair arranged in a pretty style, broke into tears. She threw her arms around Margaret Jennings. "Mommy..."
Following the seating arrangement, the cameras panned to Chelsea Raines. The sudden swing of several cameras in her direction made her jump. "Why... why did it get so sappy all of a sudden..." She normally excelled at making snide remarks, so she was a little out of her depth in this situation. She glanced at Jared Woods next to her and saw that her own son was already in tears from the emotional display.
Chelsea Raines took out a handkerchief and wiped his tears away, saying, "Stop crying. Look at you..."
She began, "Um... I’ve gotten more out of this show than I expected. My Jared is usually a little tyrant at home. I mean, he won’t lift a finger to do any chores. He even needs two maids to feed him. Sometimes if I say two words to scold him, he’ll run off and tattle to his grandma. He can’t handle the slightest criticism..."
Her brow furrowed as she recalled these past frustrations.
"Am I really as awful as you make me sound?" Jared Woods asked, feeling wronged.
Chelsea Raines smiled, her furrowed brow relaxing. "But since joining the show, he hasn’t been as much of a handful. He doesn’t need to be fed anymore, and he’s learned to be considerate of me. I’m very relieved."
She then asked gently, "Jared, is there anything you want to say to Mommy?"
Jared Woods asked cautiously, "Since you’re so touched and all, does this mean I can watch two extra hours of Ultraman when we get home?"
"I think you’re just asking for it!" Chelsea Raines’s tender moment was instantly shattered. The heartwarming atmosphere evaporated completely.
Soon, the camera panned to Ruby Preston. She appeared much calmer than everyone else. She was a person who didn’t like to wear her heart on her sleeve, and today was no exception. She gave a small smile. "This segment is so abrupt. I feel completely unprepared. For a moment, I’m not even sure what to say..."
She sighed with a smile.
"Ruby, don’t be nervous. Just speak from the heart. Say whatever you’re thinking. After the better part of half a year, I’m sure you’ve developed a much deeper understanding of your child."
"That’s definitely true," Ruby Preston said, her voice turning reminiscent. "Because of my job, I spend very little time at home, and I’ve discovered..." She paused, then smiled. "My son is completely different from how I imagined... I used to think Simon was a very cold and distant kid, but after all this time together, I’ve realized he’s actually a very warm-hearted boy. He’s grown up even better than I could have hoped. In all the time I was absent, he still managed to grow and thrive."
Simon Sawyer watched Ruby Preston across from him, and suddenly, he felt a sting in his nose. He pressed his lips together to force the strange sensation back down.
She pressed her palms together. "I am so grateful to the production team for giving my son and me so much time together. This show—*Supermom*—has been incredibly meaningful to me. I hope that in the episodes to come, Simon and I will get to see even more of our country’s beautiful landscapes!"
The director nodded with a smile.
The tour guide asked, "And what about you, Simon? Is there anything you want to say to your mom?"
Simon Sawyer’s dark eyelashes fluttered. He did his best to rein in his emotions, but his voice still trembled slightly. "Actually, I... I kind of like traveling with Mom..." After saying this, he straightened up, trying his best to make his expression look normal and not so awkward.
Ruby Preston was truly stunned. She stared at Simon Sawyer in disbelief, then a smile bloomed on her face.
’So her son didn’t dislike her as much as he appeared to on the surface.’ 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
In the blink of an eye, the camera turned to Renee Jennings. She looked even more lost than Ruby Preston, with a hint of awkwardness mixed into her bewilderment. ’The other guests were all speaking from the heart, but not her. She had virtually no fond memories of this trip. There was nothing about Nathan Lynch worth praising except for his grades. He was just a brat with a bad temper who always managed to ruin her carefully laid plans.’
Despite these thoughts, Renee Jennings’s expression instantly softened as she faced Nathan Lynch. She drew on her superb acting skills. "Nathan, Mommy is so happy to have a wonderful son like you. You’re so bright, and your grades are excellent. Of course, it would be even better if you could be a little more obedient. I still remember the first time I came to the Lynch family’s home and saw you. I liked you instantly, from the bottom of my heart. Back then, I was thinking, ’If only you were my son.’ And it’s so wonderful that my wish came true."
Renee Jennings’s speech was incredibly touching, but Nathan Lynch just shot her a cold glance. "There’s nothing wonderful about it."
The sudden, public rebuke caught everyone completely off guard.
Meeting Renee Jennings’s confused stare, Nathan Lynch said bluntly, "I hate you!"
Those three words were devastating, especially coming from a child of only six or seven.
"I know you have some prejudices that make you resist me. That’s alright, Nathan. I’ll win you over with my actions, little by little. We have plenty of time."
Nathan Lynch simply turned his head away.
The production team, likely sensing the intense awkwardness, quickly cut the cameras over to Naomi Kenway.
Naomi Kenway was playfully fiddling with Ian’s small hand. Noticing the cameras on her, she began, "First of all, I’m incredibly grateful to the production team for giving us this opportunity to travel as a family..." She started with the polite opening, her gentle gaze fixed on her son’s face. Just looking at him filled her heart with an immense sense of contentment.
"We’ve been to so many places in the past few episodes, and I’ve tried to find a way to commemorate each one. I believe these will be precious memories, no matter how much time passes."
