Chapter 286: Chapter 286: Concrete Proof! Renee Jennings, Get Out of the Show

When Naomi Kenway returned, Margaret Jennings asked with concern, "We haven’t seen you at all. Nina, where did you go?"

Ruby Preston also asked, "Did you run into some kind of trouble?"

Chelsea Raines was there too. Although she didn’t speak, she was clearly listening in.

Naomi Kenway glanced at the silent Renee Jennings not far away. "Something did happen just now. I was talking with the director."

"What happened?"

"What else could it be? The business with Renee Jennings faking her data," Naomi Kenway said casually.

The other guests’ jaws dropped in shock. Chelsea Raines said, "That’s impossible, right? How could Rachel..." She stopped mid-sentence. ’Then again,’ she thought, ’it wasn’t... completely impossible.’

Naomi Kenway covered her mouth in mock surprise. "Oh, I thought the production team had already announced it. I can’t believe you all didn’t know." As she spoke, she kept an eye on Renee Jennings’s reaction. "It’s already been confirmed. The team investigated everything. There’s a problem with Renee Jennings’s sales figures. She inflated her numbers."

Hearing this, the other guests glanced at Renee Jennings, unable to hide the disdain on their faces.

Chelsea Raines seemed to have an epiphany. "That explains it. I was wondering how she sold so many watermelons..."

Renee Jennings sat to the side without a word, her expression so dark it looked like it could drip ink. The strange looks from everyone around her made her wish the ground would swallow her whole.

She clenched her fists and hurried away.

Only after Renee Jennings left did the other guests start to gossip:

Margaret Jennings said thoughtfully, "I never thought she was that kind of person. Her competitive streak is way too strong."

Ruby Preston added, "This is more than just being competitive. Using such dirty tricks is just despicable!"

After thinking for a long time, Renee Jennings went to find the director again. She planned to discuss the matter with him and see if the fallout could be minimized. This scandal reflected poorly on the show, too, so there was no need to let things get so ugly.

"Renee Jennings, what are you doing here again?"

Renee Jennings walked up, a fawning smile on her face. "Director, please, let me explain. I really didn’t do it on purpose. My intentions were good. I just couldn’t bear to see the watermelons the farmers worked so hard to grow just rot in the fields. The show didn’t give me enough exposure, and the number of viewers in my livestream was pitifully low. Trying to help the farmers sell all their melons was an impossible task. I had no other choice... so I privately messaged my agent during the stream."

She emphasized, "I did all this to help the farmers with their troubles. Otherwise, what good would it do me to buy the watermelons with my own money?"

She made a reasonable-sounding case.

The director finally understood. His expression changed, and he said in disbelief, "So... you really did inflate your numbers?"

’She was denying it so vehemently just a moment ago. How did she become so frank all of a sudden?’

Renee Jennings’s smile vanished. "Didn’t you already investigate? Isn’t it already confirmed??"

The director was momentarily at a loss for words. "Well, inflating the data is confirmed now... but only because you just admitted it. The person I assigned to investigate hasn’t gotten back to me yet. Besides, just having matching IPs isn’t conclusive proof of anything."

Renee Jennings’s vision went black. She finally realized she had walked right into a trap set by Naomi Kenway, foolishly running here to confess without being pressed.

The comment section exploded:

[You really faked your numbers?! I was just wondering what Naomi Kenway was up to, but now I get it. She was fishing for a big bad wolf like you!]

[This is the real proof. The person herself admitted it. Let’s see how her stans try to spin this.]

[How could you do this? I’ve been a fan for over a year. I’m so disappointed.]

[Renee Jennings maliciously disrupted the show’s rules and affected the competition’s outcome. The production team needs to kick her out!]

[Get Renee Jennings off the show!]

[Didn’t Rachel just explain? She only resorted to this to help the farmers sell their watermelons. How can you have the heart to criticize such a kind-hearted person?]

[Is the person above thinking straight? Renee Jennings’s fans never cease to amaze me. Cheating is cheating. What’s there to defend?!]

[It won’t be so easy for Renee Jennings to quit the show, right? She’s already signed a contract, after all.]

[Get Renee Jennings off the show!!]

...

Seeing how pale she was, the director said, "Why don’t you go back and get some rest."

Renee Jennings left in a daze.

The guide announced that all of the day’s tasks were complete and they could now take their respective ingredient packs home. Nigati’s eldest son offered to drive all the guests home.

Naomi Kenway picked up her ingredient pack with one hand and held Ian Shaw’s small hand with the other.

Suddenly, a vicious glare shot in her direction. Naomi Kenway turned and, as expected, saw Renee Jennings, her face a mask of fury.

She slowly closed in, the malice in her eyes so intense it was as if she wanted to kill someone:

"Why did you deliberately trick me?!"

"Trick you? When did I ever trick you? I was just chatting with the other guests. There’s no way I could have tricked you."

"Stop pretending, Naomi Kenway. You planned all of this. I never did anything to you, so why are you doing this to me?"

Naomi Kenway’s gaze turned cold. "You paint yourself as so innocent. Was inflating your numbers in the competition not wrong? If I were the one who had inflated my numbers, I’m sure you would have broadcast it to the whole world. No, wait. That hypothetical is invalid."

Naomi Kenway smiled, her tone leisurely:

"After all, I’m not nearly as shameless as you."

Naomi Kenway smiled at Ian and said, "Let’s go home, sweetie. Don’t stare at her too much. Associating with someone so devious won’t do us any good."

Ian nodded and agreed loudly.

Nigati’s eldest son drove the car over. All the guests got in, but Renee Jennings and her son were still nowhere to be seen.

A moment later, the assistant director came over and said, "Ms. Jennings needs to rest for a bit before leaving. You can all go ahead."

Ruby Preston nodded.

The ingredient pack for first place was incredibly lavish. Naomi Kenway made several dishes and invited Ruby Preston and Margaret Jennings over to eat with them. Following the show’s usual tradition, the ingredient packs for fourth and fifth place were likely as basic as they could get.

After dinner, Ruby Preston and Margaret Jennings volunteered to wash the dishes. Afterward, the adults sat in the house chatting while the children gathered around to watch TV.

Before they knew it, it was nine o’clock at night. Ruby Preston and her son, along with Margaret Jennings and her daughter, said their goodbyes one after another. Naomi Kenway saw them to the door.

Just as Naomi Kenway closed the door, a staff member said, "It’s time for our long-awaited bonus segment."

The staff member handed her a phone. "Ms. Kenway, just like in the first episode, for the next hour, you and Ian are free to call your family."

Naomi Kenway took it. Ian seemed very excited and quickly ran to her side, muttering, "Daddy, Ian misses Daddy."

Other than Ethan Shaw, Naomi Kenway didn’t really have any other family she could call.
