The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 264: Competing to Show Off Affection
A bashful smile graced Renee Jennings’s face as she tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Mhm..."
[Best Actor Lynch was heartbroken by his ex-wife. Thank goodness he met Rachel! They’re so lovey-dovey, it’s incredibly sweet!]
[I can’t believe those rumors about Best Actor Lynch were going around a while back. It’s utter nonsense. He and Rachel have such a great relationship, there’s no way he’d be close to another woman. Some of these gossip blogs are just getting out of hand!]
[Mona was just left behind back there. I hope Renee Jennings and Christina Lynch start paying more attention. A child’s mind is so fragile and sensitive!]
[Maybe it’s because I’ve started to find Renee Jennings annoying lately, but even as a fan of this couple, I just can’t get into their public displays of affection anymore.]
[Who knows if Renee Jennings is doing this for publicity on purpose. She embarrassed herself over and over on the show a while ago, so now she’s trying to do damage control! If I were her, I’d have just gone home and hidden myself away. Why bother? Her family is loaded, yet she insists on coming on this show to make a fool of herself. Do all rich people think this weirdly?]
...
Renee Jennings and Christina Lynch arrived at the guest meeting point. Christina Lynch was famously skilled at networking, and he knew several of the guests there. He even politely greeted people like Chelsea Raines, who had a controversial, love-hate reputation.
Chelsea Raines smiled, but ’it left a sour taste in her mouth.’ Every time she saw someone else’s perfectly doting husband, she was reminded of her own: overweight and with a wandering eye.
Outwardly, she was full of praise. "Best Actor Lynch really pampers our Rachel. It just goes to show how important it is to marry the right person. Some of us aren’t so lucky!"
"Speak for yourself. Don’t lump the rest of us in with you," Margaret Jennings said, her tone sharp. Her relationship with her husband was quite good. In over a decade of marriage, they had rarely argued. Though much of the initial passion had faded over time, their relationship was one of mutual respect and support.
Chelsea Raines pouted. "I was just making a comment. Do you have to get so worked up about it?"
"If you want to shamelessly suck up to them, that’s your business. Just leave us out of it," Margaret Jennings said before turning away.
Chelsea Raines stomped her foot in frustration.
Christina Lynch didn’t leave right away. He lingered to whisper a few sweet nothings to Renee Jennings.
Renee Jennings handed him her hair tie. "It’s too hot to have my hair down. Nathaniel, can you tie it up for me?"
Christina Lynch froze for a moment, then stiffly took the hair tie.
Ruby Preston, watching from the side, keenly noticed that Christina Lynch’s movements were clumsy and unpracticed. It wasn’t the natural, skilled gesture Renee Jennings’s tone had implied.
"Where’s Naomi Kenway? How come she’s not here yet?" an utterly bored Chelsea Raines asked.
Renee Jennings patted her hair, pleased, and said in a mock-thoughtful tone, "Nina always insists on bringing that huge suitcase of hers, and she has her son with her. It’s only natural for the two of them to be a bit slow. Let’s just wait a little longer. I heard she and her husband argue a lot..."
She quickly covered her mouth as if she had let something slip. "It’s not easy for the two of them. We should all be more understanding."
Her words dripped with a sense of superiority.
"Hey, isn’t that Naomi Kenway?" Chelsea Raines suddenly called out, pointing.
In the distance, a family in matching pink outfits chatted and laughed casually. The tall, long-legged man was Naomi Kenway’s husband, carrying a suitcase. Ian was in the middle, holding both of his parents’ hands. The family looked picture-perfect.
Seeing them, Margaret Jennings remarked, "A whole family in matching outfits. What a lovely sight."
Ruby Preston nodded. "I should get a set for my family when I get back. They look really nice all matching like that."
Renee Jennings, of course, noticed Naomi Kenway’s family approaching. A complicated look crossed her face, and she instinctively glanced at her own family’s outfits. ’They were custom-made by a famous international designer. How could they possibly be upstaged by an ordinary set of matching clothes like Naomi’s?’
As if competing, Renee Jennings reached out and adjusted Christina Lynch’s tie.
Ethan Shaw gazed at Naomi Kenway, fussing over her. "Did you pack enough clothes? What about the first-aid kit? And the insect repellent? Did you bring something warm in case the temperature drops at night?"
Naomi Kenway smiled. "I never realized you were such a nag, Ethan Shaw. Did you forget? You already asked me all this last night."
"Hmm... It’s for three days, right?"
Naomi Kenway nodded. "Right."
"I’ll miss you." Ethan Shaw gently pulled Naomi Kenway into a hug and pressed a light kiss to her forehead. "Take care of yourself and Ian."
"You too. Remember to take your medicine on time."
"Okay."
Ethan Shaw then picked Ian up, hefting him. "Officer Ian seems to have put on some weight. Daddy believes Officer Ian can take good care of himself and Mommy, right?"
Ian had been really into a cartoon recently, and he loved the rabbit police officer character, imagining that he was a police officer too.
It was time for their little pep talk ritual. Ian Shaw gave a sharp salute and, as always, puffed out his chest and declared, "I guarantee the mission will be a complete success!"
Watching this heartwarming family interaction, many viewers in the live stream chat were going wild.
[Now *this* is genuine sweetness, not that artificial stuff. The dynamic in this family is just too wholesome and beautiful!]
[Officer Ian is so cute, and so serious! Aunty wants to kiss his little cheeks right off! (so aggressive)]
[Ian has definitely gotten taller, his legs are longer now. But the baby fat is still there, hahaha.]
...
Meanwhile, Renee Jennings hadn’t expected Naomi Kenway’s family to come so prepared. A hint of worry in her eyes, she leaned over and affectionately kissed Christina Lynch on the cheek again.
Christina Lynch looked stunned, a reprimand on the tip of his tongue. He glanced around. ’He was a very traditional man and hated all this clingy kissing and hugging in public.’
But then he remembered the cameras and forced himself to swallow his words. ’He’d have to have a serious talk with Renee Jennings when they got home,’ he thought. ’She couldn’t be so ill-mannered in public.’
A whistle blew, and the director urged the guests to prepare for boarding.
Christina Lynch put on a show of being reluctant to part. In a doting voice, he said, "You have to take good care of yourself, Rachel. Eat your meals on time. I’ll be angry if you lose weight."
Renee Jennings nodded, gazing back at him with the same deep affection. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
As for the third member of their family, Nathan Lynch, he seemed to have been forgotten by the couple, who were lost in their public display of affection. He just stood there alone, trailing behind them.
[So sweet! Best Actor Lynch dotes on Rachel so much! A little possessive, I love it!]
[Why does this feel so awkward? It looks totally fake. This is that artificial stuff they were talking about.]
[Weird, did anyone else feel like Best Actor Lynch looked annoyed for a second there? He switched his expression in a flash. Guess that’s why he’s the Best Actor!]
[I don’t know, something about their dynamic feels weird. I can’t quite put my finger on it...]
[Hey, you two forgot about Mona again...]
