The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 254: The Matter is Exposed
After a brief chat with Ruby Preston, Naomi Kenway said her goodbyes and headed toward the dressing room to remove her makeup.
Her phone rang. It was Chloe Murray.
Naomi explained the situation to the makeup artist behind her, then answered the call.
"What’s up, Kara?"
Chloe sounded excited, her voice full of unrestrained energy. "Babe, remember how we were supposed to go to the mall? Things got a little sidetracked last time, so let’s go have some real fun now."
Naomi paused for a moment. "Don’t be ridiculous. Is your leg even healed?"
"I have a tough constitution; my leg is pretty much completely healed. Nina, let me tell you..." Chloe let out a soft laugh. "That disgusting bastard Martin Murray screwed up a contract, and now he’s being confined. Once I find all the evidence about the car crash, I’m going to destroy him!"
Chloe was in high spirits, and Naomi didn’t have the heart to ruin her mood. "Okay, I’m free. Where should we meet? Right now? My makeup today is a bit complicated, so it might take a while to get it all off."
"No problem, the scenery is more charming at night anyway," Chloe said. "I’ve already left home. I’m pretty close to the film studio, so I’ll come pick you up."
"Okay."
After she finished removing her makeup, Naomi glanced at the time on her phone. DING. A notification sound went off.
[Chloe Murray: Babe, I’m waiting for you in the garage.]
Naomi sent a quick reply, then grabbed her bag and walked out.
Naomi spotted Chloe’s limited-edition supercar right away. It was so eye-catching that it was hard to miss.
Chloe was a professional race car driver, and she was extremely particular and protective when it came to cars.
Naomi walked over and said, "Walk a few steps for me. Let me see."
Chloe couldn’t help but laugh. She spun around, took a couple of steps, then spread her hands in a smug gesture. "See? I wasn’t lying, was I? Back when I broke my... in that other country..." She stopped herself, clearing her throat twice. "Never mind, let’s not talk about that."
Naomi had already guessed what she was about to say and spoke disapprovingly. "Kara, you need to take care of yourself. You can’t just blindly chase thrills like this. There are also people with ulterior motives and bad intentions out there. You have to keep your eyes open and stay away from anything you shouldn’t touch."
Chloe was fiercely loyal—a trait that had once led to her being drugged and dying a miserable death after she stood up for a "friend."
Chloe nodded furiously. "Okay."
Naomi got a little angry at her dismissive attitude. "You need to remember what I said. Promise me you’ll remember it, okay? We have to be a little selfish. Helping others should only happen when we ourselves are safe."
Seeing that Naomi was genuinely upset, Chloe’s expression turned serious. "Okay, I’ll definitely protect myself."
Naomi still wasn’t reassured. She urged Chloe again to make sure she kicked out that sibling pair, Evan and Martin, and ensure they never had a chance to make a comeback. Otherwise, there would be endless trouble down the line.
Chloe, afraid that continuing this conversation would upset Naomi, quickly changed the subject. "Nina, what do you think of my car?"
"Is it new?"
Chloe nodded.
Naomi smiled. "It’s beautiful. I guess it’s barely worthy of you."
Chloe opened the car door. Just as Naomi was about to get in, she heard a wail from behind her:
"WK! WK! I... I... I..."
Hearing that familiar name, Chloe instinctively froze.
Naomi pulled back the foot she had just extended. The moment she turned her head, she saw a petite figure launch itself into Chloe’s arms at lightning speed. It happened so fast that Naomi couldn’t even see who it was.
It wasn’t until the person lifted their tear-streaked face that she saw. "WK... It’s really you! I’m not dreaming!"
Chloe was at a loss. "Who are you?"
Naomi said, "Clementine Coleman?"
Clementine immediately looked toward Naomi. The two women before her were both stunningly beautiful. As a hardcore admirer of good looks, Clementine felt her eyes were extremely pleased.
Chloe gently pushed the person away and turned to Naomi. "Babe, you know her?"
Naomi answered succinctly, "She’s a friend. From the same cast." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Hearing Naomi call her a "friend," Chloe’s expression became a bit more genuine. "I didn’t realize she was a friend of yours, Nina."
She extended a hand. "Hello, I’m Chloe Murray."
Clementine excitedly shook Chloe’s hand, nodding repeatedly. She glanced at Naomi, looking like she was about to cry again. "It’s such a small world! I can’t believe I’m meeting you. WK, I really admire you."
Hearing that name again, Chloe asked, "You’re a fan of mine?"
Clementine nodded furiously. "I’ve been a fan for three years! I still have the autograph you gave me a while ago. It’s in my study, and I practically worship it day and night."
Her exaggerated tone made Chloe laugh. She exchanged a glance with Naomi. "What are you talking about?"
Clementine seemed to remember something and waved frantically at Renee Jennings behind her. "Renee, hurry up! What are you standing there for? Are you just stunned with joy from seeing an old friend?"
She then gave Chloe a silly grin. "It just so happens that Renee is here with me. What a coincidence! You two can catch up."
Renee Jennings’s movements were stiff; she looked like she wanted to flee in panic. She clenched her hands so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
Today, Clementine had originally taken her to a jewelry store to pick out some pieces.
Seeing Renee dawdling, Clementine lost her patience. She muttered in confusion before walking over and grabbing Renee’s hand herself.
"Renee, what’s wrong with you? Are you really that stunned? That’s weird, didn’t you say she’d gone abroad again? Why is she here?" Clementine gave another goofy laugh. "I guess this must be a wonderful twist of fate."
Renee moved forward at a snail’s pace, her heart pounding so hard it felt like it would burst from her chest. Just as she was about to reach them, she suddenly let go of Clementine’s hand and pretended to be weak. "No, I can’t. I’m not feeling well. Maybe... maybe we can see each other next time..."
Suddenly, a figure stood before her. The person had a cold aura, and her short hair gave her a somewhat androgynous look.
Renee Jennings was jolted by the sight of that face.
"I hear... you know me?"
Chloe laughed again. "But how come I don’t know you? Is this a one-sided acquaintance? I hear we’re even old friends?"
Clementine’s face was full of confusion. "What are you guys talking about? I don’t really get it. Shouldn’t you be happy to see a friend?"
Chloe chuckled. "You really are a naive kid. She gave you an autographed photo, so what did you give her?"
Clementine thought back seriously. "Some jewelry and bags, and... I don’t remember the rest clearly."
Naomi now understood the whole situation perfectly, and she felt even more contempt and disgust for Renee Jennings. "What? The money Best Actor Lynch gives you isn’t enough? You have to come here and con a kid?"
Renee Jennings didn’t say a word. She clenched her jaw tightly. ’How could I have run into the worst possible situation?’
Seeing that Clementine still looked lost, Naomi couldn’t resist ruffling her hair. "Clementine, you silly kid. You fell for such an obvious trick?"
Clementine stared dazedly at Naomi’s face, instinctively rising onto her tiptoes. The next second, she remembered what Naomi had just said and shivered.
She’d been scammed.
