The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 180: Ian Saves the Day
For a moment, there was silence on the set. Naomi Kenway and the other actor were both a little baffled.
Naomi Kenway was the first to speak. "What are you talking about? You don’t have a part in this scene."
Clementine Coleman, full of righteous bravado, declared, "So what if I’m not in this scene? I can’t stand to see you bullying people. The fact that I’m not in this scene makes me want to get involved even more!"
The corner of Naomi Kenway’s mouth twitched. For a second, she really thought Clementine Coleman had jumped right out of a TV drama.
The actress rehearsing with Naomi Kenway realized what was happening and quickly wiped the tears from her face. "Miss Clementine Coleman, you’ve misunderstood."
"Don’t be scared. Don’t let her threaten you." Clementine Coleman patted her chest chivalrously. "I’ll definitely protect you!"
Naomi Kenway said calmly, "Clementine Coleman, we’re rehearsing a scene."
"Rehearsing...?" she repeated, a beat too late.
The other actress explained, "It’s true, we were just rehearsing. Nina didn’t bully me. She’s so nice, why would she bully me for no reason? Miss Clementine Coleman, you’ve really misunderstood. I have the script right here. Here, look if you don’t believe me."
Clementine Coleman took the script and looked at the lines at the bottom of the page. They were identical to what Naomi Kenway had just said.
Her face instantly flushed beet red. Mortified, she covered one side of her face with her hand. "Ugh... I’m such an idiot. My brother was right. I’m not cut out to be a hero. I’d be better off begging in front of The Imperial City."
Naomi Kenway watched Clementine Coleman with a bemused expression. ’What a unique girl,’ she thought.
Clementine Coleman bowed three times in a row, each one a deep, ninety-degree bend at the waist.
"I’m so, so sorry! Please forgive me! I was completely in the wrong, I misjudged you, and I even yelled at you..." The more Clementine Coleman spoke, the more ashamed she felt. "I’m truly sorry."
"It’s alright. Your heart was in the right place," Naomi Kenway said. She didn’t dislike this quirky girl; in fact, she found her rather endearing.
Having been forgiven by Naomi Kenway, Clementine Coleman breathed a sigh of relief. She looked up, saw Naomi’s face, and her heart began to pound.
’A beauty-lover’s ultimate weakness: a goddess-tier face up close.’
Clementine Coleman clutched her burning cheeks and scrambled out of the vehicle, terrified of embarrassing herself any further.
While Naomi Kenway was filming her scene, Ian sat on a small stool to the side, watching his mother perform. His big eyes sparkled, and a small crowd soon gathered, completely charmed by his adorable appearance.
The crew members quickly discovered that Ian, just as he was on the variety show, wasn’t one for words. His fair little face was fixed solely on Naomi Kenway; he seemed to block out everything else around him. Only when his eyes were on his mother did they show a flicker of warmth.
Naomi Kenway’s shoot dragged on. Occasionally, Ian would pull a tablet from his backpack and start tapping away, the screen flashing with all sorts of dazzling data.
No one thought much of it, assuming he was just playing a game. He was only four, after all. ’Though the games kids from wealthy families play are certainly advanced,’ they mused.
The moment Naomi Kenway finished the scene, her son threw himself into her arms. His eyes sparkled as he lavished her with praise. "Mommy, you’re amazing! To Ian, you’re the most amazing actress in the world!"
Naomi Kenway smiled, taking the umbrella from her assistant to hold it over Ian. "Are you hot? Want me to have the assistant get you an ice cream cone?"
Ian nodded, not forgetting to thank her sweetly.
Stroking the back of her son’s round little head, Naomi Kenway laughed with contentment.
Ruby Preston suddenly rushed over, looking anxious. "A child actor for the production can’t make it right now because of a school issue. This scene is pretty important due to the location rental schedule. Naomi, would it be possible for Ian to fill in and help us out?"
She added, "It’s a very simple scene with very few lines."
Naomi Kenway didn’t agree right away. Instead, she looked down and asked for Ian’s opinion. "Honey, would you like to give it a try?"
Ian Shaw seemed to consider it seriously. "Ian has never acted before," he said. "Mommy, I’d like to try." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Ruby Preston was overjoyed. "Ian is perfect for this role!"
With no objections, Naomi Kenway took Ian and followed Ruby Preston to another part of the set.
Ruby Preston handed the script to Ian and softened her voice. "There are three lines here in total. They might seem a little long. Come on, Auntie will teach you how to read them..."
Ian held up a chubby little hand and waved it. "Ian can read them. Ian recognizes all the words on the page."
Ruby Preston was surprised. "Ian, you’re only in preschool and you already know so many words?"
Ian read the three lines aloud, his diction clear and without a single mistake.
Ruby Preston was full of amazement. "What a brilliant child! To know so many words at only four years old."
Naomi Kenway smiled from the sidelines, her heart swelling with pride.
Ian Shaw had an excellent memory and memorized the lines in just a minute. Ruby Preston praised him again and again, saying he must have gotten his good memory from his mother.
Naomi Kenway felt a little nervous when Ian Shaw began his performance. After all, this was his first time acting.
Truthfully, when Ruby Preston first asked, a part of Naomi had hoped Ian wouldn’t agree to it. The internet was a cesspool. If an actor performed poorly, they were relentlessly torn to shreds online. That was far too much pressure for a child as young as Ian.
But since her son had said he wanted to try, Naomi wouldn’t stand in his way. As long as it didn’t break any laws, she would unconditionally support anything Ian wanted to do.
Naomi’s heart was fluttering with anxiety, but Ian Shaw had already started his performance. He didn’t even need guidance from the crew, completing the scene with incredible ease.
The call of "Cut!" was followed by thunderous applause on set. A beat later, Naomi Kenway started clapping too, feeling a wave of emotion.
Naomi Kenway stepped forward and hugged her son, praising him just as he had praised her earlier.
Ian Shaw’s chubby little face flushed slightly, and he couldn’t stop smiling.
Ruby Preston walked over, full of praise. "Ian, your performance was wonderful! Will you act again in the future? You’re a real natural!"
Ian snuggled into Naomi’s arms, wrapping his hands around her neck and shaking his head. "Ian has tried it now."
"So, you’re saying you just wanted to see what being an actor was like?" Ruby Preston felt it was a shame, but she wouldn’t press the issue.
"If you don’t like acting, what do you enjoy doing?"
Ian Shaw thought for a moment. "Ian likes pharmaceutical research."
"That sounds wonderful. When you grow up, I’m sure you’ll achieve your dream. Aunt Preston believes you can become a great scientist."
Ruby Preston then added, "Naomi, you and Ian really helped me out of a huge jam. I’ll treat you both to dinner tonight!"
"It was nothing, really. Don’t worry about it, Hazel Preston."
"I insist. I can’t have our little Ian act for nothing."
