Chapter 179: Chapter 179: Bringing Ian to the Film Set

Naomi Kenway collected herself and went downstairs. In the dining room, Ethan Shaw was reading a financial newspaper to Ian Shaw, who was wrinkling his little face, looking like he wanted to say something but was holding back.

They both waited for Naomi to join them for breakfast. All three preferred Chinese food, so the table was laid out with classic Chinese breakfast dishes.

When Ian saw Naomi, it was like his savior had arrived. He jumped down from his chair and threw himself into Naomi’s arms. He tilted his little face up and asked, "Mommy, are you all rested?"

Naomi gave Ethan Shaw an odd glance, then ruffled Ian Shaw’s hair. "Mommy is all rested now. I’m sorry for making you worry, Ian."

Just as Naomi sat down, she saw Ethan answer a call. He then stood up and put on his suit jacket. "Something came up at the office. You two go ahead and eat without me."

"Wait!" Naomi called out to him, then paused. "You can’t skip breakfast. Have Nanny Warren pack something for you to go."

Ethan Shaw stopped in his tracks. The look he gave her held a hint of a smile, and his voice was laced with delight. "Okay."

Nanny Warren moved quickly, and Naomi was the one to hand him the prepared box. "Here."

Ethan took the box, but then leaned in a little. Just as Naomi tensed up, she heard him whisper in her ear, "If you still have a headache, remember to take the hangover medicine on the table."

The warmth of his breath by her ear vanished as Ethan Shaw strode out the door.

As filming for the fifth episode drew near, Naomi packed her things as usual. Since she had no idea what the environment would be like, she packed everything she could possibly need, paying special attention to emergency supplies. She must have been squatting for a while, because she felt dizzy as she stood up. She quickly found a piece of candy and swallowed it.

It happened to be the weekend, and Naomi was heading to the film set as usual. Before she left, Ian tugged on her sleeve, saying he wanted to go with her.

"I’ve finished all my homework, and I won’t cause any trouble. Please take me with you, Mommy~"

With her son giving her those big, puppy-dog eyes, Naomi found it nearly impossible to refuse him. Besides, the set was full of assistants, so someone could always watch Ian while she was filming. Plus, she had been spending much less time with him since she’d started this role.

Ian was still tugging on Naomi’s sleeve, pleading, "I promise I won’t be any trouble, okay?"

Looking at the reliance in his eyes, Naomi suddenly felt a pang of guilt. ’After I finish filming these next two days, I’ll take him to the amusement park.’

"You have to promise not to run off when we get there, okay? Mommy would be so sad if I couldn’t find you."

Ian nodded emphatically. "I’ll stay right by your side, Mommy."

As mother and son emerged together, the many reality show fans waiting outside the studio screamed with excitement and swarmed them.

Ian was so small, and Naomi was afraid her son would be pushed and shoved by the crowd, so she quickly scooped him up into her arms. She patiently answered a few questions from the fans before heading inside.

Naomi held Ian in her arms. The mother and son wore matching sunglasses, with the only difference being the smaller size of Ian’s pair. The curve of their lips was so similar that anyone could see they were related.

Ruby Preston was surprised to see Ian there. A gentle smile spread across her face as she teased him playfully for a moment.

Though the words were the childish sort used to humor a kid, Ian Shaw played along and gave a sweet smile.

Ruby Preston then praised Ian for being so well-behaved, remarking that he was much more cheerful and lively than the first time they’d met.

Ian Shaw suddenly asked, "Aunt Preston, where is Sean?"

Ruby Preston was taken aback for a moment, then smiled. "Sean? He’s probably at home taking equestrian lessons with his grandfather." She sighed. "Ian, you’re such a thoughtful little darling. My Sean doesn’t really like to be around me."

"That’s not true! Sean said he loves spending time with you, Aunt Preston!"

The smile on Ruby Preston’s face froze. She looked at him in disbelief. "Did Sean really say that? You’re not just saying that to make Aunt Preston happy, are you?"

Ian shook his head, his little face serious.

Ruby Preston seemed to ponder for a moment. "Is that so? I’ll ask him when I get back..."

Naomi spoke up. "Hazel Preston, I think you should find some time to take Sean to an amusement park. He’s a kid who has trouble expressing his feelings."

"Sean has said he’s not very interested in things like that."

"You should try. He might end up liking it."

Ruby Preston nodded. As she recalled, there were very few things Simon Sawyer showed interest in. Maybe trying something new wouldn’t be a bad idea. ’Perhaps it’s just like Naomi said... what if Sean actually likes it!’

The upcoming scene was crucial, requiring Naomi to rehearse with another actress beforehand. They decided to run their lines in an RV.

Naomi glanced over the script. In this scene, her character, the now-successful Hugh Chandler, reprimands one of her subordinate managers. The manager had been using their authority for personal gain and maliciously driving out other employees.

Hugh Chandler herself had once been forced out of a restaurant by a colleague’s malicious slander, so this manager’s actions stirred up painful memories.

Ian was also in the RV, watching everything with wide, curious eyes.

Naomi had repeatedly reminded Ian that she was only going to be acting, so he shouldn’t worry or be afraid.

Ian asked worriedly, "Will you get hit, Mommy?"

"No."

"Will you get yelled at?"

"No." In this scene, Naomi was the one yelling at someone else.

Ian’s expression returned to normal. "In that case, I won’t be scared."

Naomi breathed a sigh of relief.

When Clementine Coleman heard that Naomi had brought an absolutely adorable little boy with her, her curiosity got the better of her, and she rushed over to see what was going on.

’Whatever her personality is like, Naomi Kenway’s face is just gorgeous. Her son must be adorable too.’

Before Clementine even got close to the RV, she heard Naomi’s sharp rebuke from inside: "What good is an apology? What good are tears? You should have thought of that sooner?!"

It was followed by the faint sounds of sobbing and begging for forgiveness.

Clementine had heard from Renee Jennings long ago that Naomi was a truly vicious person. They said she loved to use her powerful connections to bully people—the worst kind of bully.

’And she’s just as brazen here on set.’

A fierce sense of justice ignited in Clementine’s heart. Her parents had raised her on wuxia stories about punishing the wicked and protecting the innocent, and the one thing she couldn’t stand to see was someone being bullied!

Ignoring the attempts of those around her to hold her back, Clementine stormed into the RV. A quick glance confirmed her suspicions—the scene was exactly as she had imagined.

"Naomi Kenway! How can you just bully people like that?! My mom always said bullies who throw their weight around are the worst kind of people! If you don’t stop, I’m going to hit you! I’m not kidding. I really will hit you. I’ll... I’ll avoid your face, at least!"

Clementine stared at Naomi, her expression one of utter heartbreak.

’Why? Why is this happening? How could the face I’m so obsessed with belong to someone with such a venomous heart?’

Clementine’s heart ached. The pain was gut-wrenching.
