The Unveiling of Secret Queen-Chapter 206: Boss, you fell into a pit toilet_1
Amadeus Yancey gripped the phone that had been forcefully stuffed into his hands, gazed down to illuminate the screen saver, which was a cute photo someone had taken using Edric’s name last time.
His thin lips curled up, his fingertips brushed over his lip, the skin somewhat scorching, as if running a feverishly high temperature.
But in an instant, he was back to normal, unlocking the phone to take a look.
Audrick Zachmann hadn’t lied to him, there indeed was a missed call.
It was from Candice Yancey.
He dialed back the number while heading downstairs...
In the room, Nathalie Quinlan took a cold shower to wash away her fatigue, changed into a set of white pajamas, dried her hair, then slowly ambled out of the bathroom.
She had time to check her phone.
Without looking, she’d have never known; upon looking, she was startled.
Her phone was crammed with over a dozen calls and messages.
Those from Lowie Wilmar didn’t need checking, mostly likely about the transaction in the afternoon.
Remembering how she was caught in the act by him in the afternoon, Nathalie felt her brow throb vehemently.
Apart from Silvania Ingram and Lowie Wilmar, no one in McKinney knew that she was the doctor who sold Small Pills on the Black Market, now another person knew her identity.
Amadeus... her feelings were pretty complicated.
Common sense said that the fewer people who knew about this stuff the better, yet for some reason, she always felt he wouldn’t tell anyone.
Sigh~
Nathalie pressed at her brow, suddenly realizing her thoughts were quite terrifying.
Why did she trust a man who was a complete stranger to her, with whom she had no blood relations?
Did she instinctively feel he wouldn’t betray her?
Nathalie’s thoughts raced as her brow furrowed tightly, yet she couldn’t find a reasonable explanation.
"Because he’s Edric’s uncle?" Very softly.
But this reason wasn’t convincing.
At the very least, she felt a vague fondness for anyone related to Edric; perhaps this was a case of love me, love my dog?
Once Nathalie understood why she believed Amadeus Yancey, she suddenly felt much lighter in spirit, and looked down at her phone again.
There was also a message from the Red Alliance.
[@ilovebeingskinny: Boss, they’re looking for that miraculous doctor, and we can’t find him?]
[@ilovebeingskinny: Boss, weren’t you in a rush for the goods? How come you’ve disappeared?]
[@ilovebeingskinny: Boss, did you fall into a latrine pit?]
[@ilovebeingskinny: ...]
Nathalie saw his messages, especially the words about falling into a latrine pit, her lips twitchered, and she quietly operated her phone.
Soon after, a howl echoed from a secret villa afar.
"Damn it, the boss sold all my stocks at a low price!! Everything, all of it!!"
"Didn’t I just express some warm concern to see if he had paper when he went to the latrine? How could he be so heartless!! Don’t hold me back, I’m going to jump off a building!!"
Unfortunately for him, Nathalie was too far away to hear his wails. After finishing the stock-selling, she calmly dragged his contact into the blacklist, to prevent herself from being disturbed.
She then looked at the messages from other people.
Aside from Jhovany Sullivan, Freddy Cagwin, and others inviting her out to dinner, she received a new message.
From a new phone number not yet named in her contacts.
[146XXXX: Nathalie, what kind of clothes do you like? There’s a nice clothing store below the hotel where I’m staying. I went for a walk and saw a dress that would suit you perfectly, I’ll send you a photo to see.]
Attached was a photo.
The dress in the photo was from Seven, but unlike the lower-end series Ghania Quinlan had worn to school to show off, the dress sent to her clearly belonged to the high-end series. Both the design and cutting were much more refined than the dress Ghania Quinlan flaunted at the school.
