The Unveiling of Secret Queen-Chapter 1096: She Needs Someone to Accompany Her
He spoke up to this point, unconsciously glancing towards the girl sitting in the corner, then added, "Our Chinese Medicine department should also have a program this year. If your senior students hadn’t graduated, or if they were still here, then we could just..."
In previous years, most of the students from Nathalie Quinlan’s year would switch majors by the time they reached their sophomore year, effectively becoming part of another department.
Winston Sullivan didn’t think it was appropriate to say such things in front of the freshmen, so after pausing for a second, he continued, "If we’re going to do a program, it’ll have to come from your year. Does anyone have any ideas? If so, feel free to share them."
Before he came, the students had already discussed this topic.
They had also mentioned the incident where the Clinical Medicine department nearly took over their reserved karaoke room.
As soon as Winston brought it up, Tiffany Olsen was the first to speak: "We just ran into people from the Clinical Medicine department. It seems they’re planning a dance performance this year. For us... we were thinking of doing a dance program too."
Straightforward and cheerful by nature, she spoke openly and without reserve. Her doll-like face radiated confidence as she raised her hand and glanced around at everyone in the room, saying, "I’ve studied traditional dance for a few years, so I can perform a solo. But there’s one problem—I don’t have the music for it. If we just play a CD, the effect might not be great. Does anyone here play an instrument? If we can collaborate, that’d be ideal!"
She had already asked people about their skills when she first arrived, but no one seemed willing to step forward.
Tiffany herself had studied dance for a few years and was quite passionate about it. Performing on stage didn’t trouble her at all. Back in high school, she would voluntarily take part in cultural performances. She was used to these kinds of settings and wasn’t afraid of being on stage.
However, everyone had heard that the Clinical Medicine department was particularly aggressive this year. They had openly declared their intent to dominate the opening ceremony.
It was one thing for her not to get nervous, but she didn’t want to disgrace her department.
If she went on stage and didn’t perform well, it’d only bring shame to the department. She’d rather not stand up at all.
After scanning the room and seeing that no one else was volunteering, Tiffany looked visibly disappointed. She bit her lip, feeling a bit lost.
The enthusiasm she had been brimming with earlier now fizzled out like a deflated balloon.
Just as she started doubting whether she had been too impulsive, a raspy voice came from the corner where the girl who hadn’t participated much in their conversations was sitting: "What instrument do you need?"
Tiffany’s eyes lit up. She turned her gaze and saw Nathalie Quinlan’s strikingly beautiful face partially hidden under the brim of her cap, exuding an air of unapproachability.
Yet somehow, Nathalie’s presence gave off a sense of reliability and security.
"Anything works!" Tiffany’s faltering courage reignited. After speaking, she thought for a moment and clarified, "I just think that if we play a CD on stage, the overall effect might not be as great. Especially since the Clinical Medicine department..."
...was hell-bent on humiliating them. If they performed poorly at the opening ceremony, wouldn’t it be giving the Clinical Medicine department exactly what they wanted?
"How about a keyboard?" Nathalie’s husky voice responded.
"That’ll work, that’ll work."
Nathalie hadn’t originally planned to get involved, but seeing Tiffany so determined to step up for the sake of their department yet receiving no support, she couldn’t help but chime in. Nathalie had always been someone who didn’t go out looking for trouble but wasn’t afraid to handle it if it came her way. If Tiffany decided not to dance, Nathalie figured she’d probably end up going on stage herself anyway—just in a different capacity.
"Then I can accompany you," Nathalie said. She fully understood the real reason Winston had invited her out to this meal. Though she found it mildly irritating, she graciously agreed and lifted her head to meet Tiffany’s eyes. Her pure black-and-white gaze was calm as she asked, "What piece do you want to use?"
Something like this definitely needed prior coordination.
She might not have much free time to rehearse with Tiffany, and the opening ceremony was just a few days away. She needed time to familiarize herself with the piece to avoid making mistakes and embarrassing herself on stage.
