the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 999: It Would Be Best for Miss Crystal Landon to Marry In Soon, So That Ties with That Side Are Weakened
"Did you hear that? That Pearl Landon, isn’t she supposed to be a well-known lady from the Imperial City? But she not only calls her future brother-in-law by name but also tells me not to worry. Is she implying that I, an old lady, am meddling too much? Even if Richard Shaw likes that girl, I absolutely cannot accept it. How can she compare to my Crystal Landon, who is intelligent, perceptive, and well-behaved?" The old lady said with some anger.
Sister Zhao consoled her on the side. Fortunately, the Landon family didn’t visit often, or else the old lady would get angry every time she saw them.
Sister Zhao also had her thoughts. So many people want to associate with the Shaw Family, a prestigious household, but can’t. The Landons really are a tough nut to crack. Do they truly think the old lady is so amiable to everyone? If it weren’t for Crystal’s sake, she’d give them some face. Next time, it’ll be hard for the Landons to come around.
"This matter still needs the young master to propose. I think it’d be good to have Miss Crystal marry in soon and thus lessen the ties with the other side. Don’t be angry; it’s not worth it." Sister Zhao advised.
The Shaw family’s old lady nodded, acknowledging the logic. They need to have Crystal marry in soon.
The old lady recalled how the young girl couldn’t listen anymore, refused to eat, and indirectly got taken away. She wondered if Crystal would go hungry upon returning home.
Crystal returned home, entered her room, and completed an exam paper. By the time she finished, two hours had passed, and her stomach was growling. She went to the kitchen and found nothing much to eat. Not wanting to cook for herself, she called Hawk Howard.
"Caspian, I’m hungry," she said, holding her empty stomach with some grievance. She didn’t want to call Richard Shaw, partly because he might not care and partly because she didn’t want him to know her situation with the Landons, lest Richard think she’s pity-seeking.
Caspian was different; they shared a revolutionary friendship through racing.
Hawk Howard was working overtime. Substituting at St. Yale High School wasn’t part of his plans. His primary job was very busy. Although he had flexible working hours, he was brought back as a special talent, involved in confidential research. Seeing Crystal hand in blank paper for English, fearing she’d continue being so willful, he decided to become a high school English teacher, specifically making her a study plan.
As a PhD from Massachusetts Tech taking up an English teaching role in high school, the principal of St. Yale High School was laughing even in his sleep.
Due to his part-time English teaching during the day, Hawk inevitably had to work late into the night.
"Where are you?" The man asked, typing rapidly while speaking in a nonchalant tone.
"I’m at the Landon residence. I want fried chicken, fries, and something spicy," Crystal said, sitting in front of the Landon family’s villa, feeling hungrier as she spoke.
"Alright, eat some chocolate first. There’s some in the inner layer of your backpack; I put it there a few days ago. I’ll be there in forty minutes." Hawk said, then hung up the phone, closed his laptop, and set out to buy food for her.
A few days ago, Hawk noticed Crystal was studying diligently and worried that she consumed a lot of mental energy, so he bought some chocolates and stuffed them into her backpack, not having had the chance to mention it, but unexpectedly it came in handy.
Crystal was a bit incredulous and rushed to grab her backpack, indeed finding several chocolates inside, instantly thinking Caspian was practically an angel. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
She ate a few chocolate bars, realizing it might be necessary to stock up on snacks at home. Knowing Hawk would take some time to drive over, she took out another English exam paper and started working on it in the hall.
