Chapter 808: Chapter 808: Her Life Has Always Walked on the Edge of a Blade

Delphine got ashore, did not return to the villa, and drove directly to Emerald Hill Villas.

Emerald Hill Villas had been vacant with no one living there. Mrs. Li had also moved to a small townhouse in the Northern Town because it was inconvenient for her to stay here due to her age, watching over the late Mrs. Leclair’s house.

Delphine knew the villa’s password. After entering the password and going inside, she found everything exactly as it was when she left years ago, spotless, obviously maintained by someone regularly.

Her gaze shifted slightly, she bypassed the living room directly and went to the collection room in the back.

Ignatius Leclair had numerous collection rooms, categorized and labeled like an exhibition hall.

Delphine found the studio, walked in, turned on the lights, and looked at the famous paintings, flipping through the backs of the paintings. Sure enough, every painting had a label from the same gallery on its back.

Not only at Emerald Hill Villas, she had seen works from this gallery in the storage room of the Leclair Manor.

Emily Thorne. Such a poetic and artistic name, it turns out that all these years, she had been helping Ignatius Leclair manage all the hidden paintings. She never knew there was such a woman behind Ignatius Leclair. Fourteen years, even longer than she had known him, this woman had almost witnessed Ignatius Leclair’s journey from youth to young adulthood.

Delphine stood in the spacious and quiet studio, lips pale. She used to love painting when she was young and had learned for a while, but after leaving the Leclair Family and drifting around, she gave up the thought of learning to paint.

She had almost cut off all her childhood hobbies and dared not indulge herself in these elegant pastimes over the years. Her life had always walked on the edge, only by constantly keeping the clearest mind could she walk unscathed.

After leaving Emerald Hill Villas, Delphine drove back to the villa, feeling somewhat distracted on the drive back.

Yeats Howard had taken the two little kids to the Leclair Manor to visit the old man, leaving the villa empty. Delphine stood at the door, looking at the silent empty house, suddenly realizing that Ignatius Leclair had been going out early and returning late these past few days, for almost a week now.

Pressing her somewhat aching head, she didn’t enter the door, turning around directly to head to the neighboring Squire Manor.

Though Squire Manor was adjacent, it still took a ten-minute walk, the path lined with towering trees that blocked out the sun, flanked by wildflowers in full bloom, with Griffith Squire strolling his cat along the road.

After Leah left, Snowball hadn’t been taken away and was left directly at Squire Manor, fed by Griffith Squire until it was too fat to walk and loved running away from home daily.

Griffith Squire attached a bell and GPS system to Snowball’s neck, watching Snowball roll its chubby body outside, playing all day, either pouncing on butterflies or catching birds. If it ran too far, Griffith Squire would follow the location to drag Snowball back, much like walking a dog. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Griffith Squire was just picking up the dirty Snowball, who was rolling in the grass outside, by the neck and walking back, when he saw Delphine approaching, somewhat surprised.

After entering Squire Manor, Griffith Squire handed Snowball to the servants for a bath, then brewed a pot of tea for Delphine.

Holding the hot tea, Delphine felt her body warm up a bit, shook her head, and asked softly, "Is Leah doing well?"

"She’s doing quite well. She’s rather carefree, and now that Casimir Shaw has grown up and isn’t too clingy, Leah can handle it." Griffith Squire said faintly, sitting across from her.

If Leah had anything left to hold onto, it would be the child she carried for ten months.
